Aviva Premiership Round 6

Argh, such a frustrating 2nd half.
First half was very encouraging, but then we came out after halftime and looked completely clueless.
Tigers played pretty poorly tonight, and if we were ever going to beat them it was going to be tonight, and I think many/most sides in the Prem probably could have if they came up against them in that form.

One positive is that Nathan Fowles had a great cameo from the bench.

One negative is that if (when) Ward gets a ban we could be going in to the Heineken Cup with only one hooker (and a loosehead who can cover hooker), unless we take along an academy player, in which case we'll have one hooker with minimal prem experience in Taylor and one hooker with no prem experience in (probably) Cruse.

Sale probably wouldn't have won anyway, but Barnes had far too big a hand in that result.

Leicester will get butt-****ed by Toulouse next week.

Amusingly I saw one or two tweets by Tigers fans/idiots who slated Barnes as he was, in their eyes, "a Sale supporting t**t". Hilarious

Tigers fans though, isn't it?
If they're not winning by 5+ tries then the whole world is against them.

Tigs fans are a law onto themselves. Nasty ******** also.

Blimey, couple of shocks today!
Not nots click and 5pt Saints, and Chiefs do the same to Quins!

Were Saints and Quins at full strength or making assumptions about easy games before the H Cup next week?

Think Quins were pretty much full strength.
Think Saints got a load of injuries, and also weren't at full strength, but still a shock result.

Very small glimmer of hope for Biarritz after a black day then if Quins can get thumped by the Irish and at near enough full strength....................probably give them the wake up call though!!

Abit of a gap opening between Sale and 11th already. I would still put my money on Welsh going down, but Sale are going to have to start improving pretty soon.

Quins weren't good today. Still, fair play for fielding an almost full strength side given the massive game next week. If it were the Rabo league they could have played the A team today....

Just like Leinster and Munster did today then eh? or Ulster the other night. Your point would be a good one, if it weren't so demonstrably false.

I think Ulster played their full strength team except Williams was on for Wilson - who might I add has played every game this season

Provincial sides giving their HEC players a run 1 week before it starts in the distraction league?

**** the bed...

On topic: I've fought Catos corner for a long time, but yesterday he demonstrated exactly he's considered a joke. Directly responsible for 3 notnot trys and also fluffed 2 for Saints. Team game etc., but he was utter garbage.

Second Welsh try was brilliant!

Henson's had a good game, kicking from hand a bit wayward (great distance, but he was just kicking it right at Sarries players) but distributed and defended well.

Henson's pass at the beginning of that move was outstanding, lovely support running afterwards to score.

Henson looks a little rusty (he's not defending in the line yet), but the class is obvious to see imo. It's also quite amazing to see how good his goal kicking is, considering he's not kicked in a competitive match since what, 2005? And even then it was just the long range pot shots.

Great ending to this!
Really want Welsh to get the try/win, even if it hurts Sale's chances.

Edit: Ay? What did he end the game for?

Anyone explain the ref decision to just blow the whistle? A collapsed scrum from a penalty surely has to be re-set?

Nobblynick:

"Massive game" next week.................thanks for the compliment - not sure you have been watching either Biarritz's general performances or results for the last three years though!!

Do not be fooled by their winning of the Amlin last year, my tip is they will probably be trying to repeat that this year rather than challenging for the H Cup and, at home, Quins should have no problems they way they have been playing despite yesterday!

Well done Welsh and if you want to send Henson down here, we will take him!!
