Aviva Premiership - Round 1

You got an injury in a rugby tackle - that must be the first time that's ever happened.... I wish I knew what being injured in a rugby match was like...
If only Savage played rugby, then he might share your opinion too.

Look - it's simple IMO... if you are not running out of the way of the ruck then you are deliberately and cynically slowing the opposition's possession. And you are deliberately putting yourself in a position where you force someone to either not hit a ruck, or hit you.
Roll out the way then stand up. Putting your hands up is only relevant if you're offside in open play and showing the ref that you are retreating - doing it in the way of someone trying to hit a ruck does nothing.

You didn't read what I put did you, shoddy work. Then you assumed it so threw the beginning of a hissy fit. I wasn't affecting the breakdown similar to North, the clear out was dangerous because I was defenceless and not affecting the ruck. The point with the injury comes from being hit and not expected it because I was retreating, not affecting play and the fact the player wanted to hit someone.

What's Savage got to do with playing? I don't get that point. I know he's a rugby player, do you?

Based on that North was hit before he even had a chance to get away from the ruck. He didnt just stand up, raise his arms and just stand there.

You suggested that hitting someone that is offside in the "gate" is wrong - I disagree. Putting your hands in the air helps no-one, particularly not yourself.

You then tried to gain some sense of intellectual superiority by suggesting that your personal experience of playing the game means that your argument is more valid than mine. "if you play rugby then you would know it's dangerous"

We just seem to disagree on whether or not North was affecting play.
If he was inside the gate then he was. I will have another look but from my recollection he was fair game and should have expected to be hit.

It seems to me that you are projecting your own injury onto the situation and getting ****** off because of it.
I'm not sure where you think I started throwing a "hissy fit".

Looking at the gif - he should have rolled away before he stood up. Simple as that IMO.

You neg me and say I'm throwing the toys out the pram!
Moron.

From the gif he had little time to do anything. Simple as that in my opinion.

Funny guy suggesting that just because I have played I have a more valid point, never have I said that. But I do apologise for playing / attempting to play the game we are here to discuss :( .

Nah wasn't bummed about the injury, I got my ankle strapped to my boot and carried on playing for the rest of the game. Thanks for the concern though, much appreciated :) .

What was this supposed to mean then?

Well, clearly we disagree on the situation.
I do find it weird that you're offended enough to neg me though!

Sorry as I said didn't know actually playing rugby was a bad thing

Didn't realise you called me a silly play ground name too

And I felt the neg rep was warranted, no need to cause a fuss over it like

... so just not going to answer my question then?

What specifically made you neg me though, just annoyed that I disagree with you?

Anyway ...

Should be interesting game, Chiefs missing a few, hopefully London Welsh can give a good account of themselves.

North wasn't in the ruck and was moving away.

Savages hit was totally illegal, you can't just take out any player you like.

If North was obstructing the scrum half to first receiver then he ref should abbé picked up on it.

What savage did was dangerous

By the by, and with no comment on this incident as did not see it, taking out guys around the ruck/breakdown unnecessarily has increasingly crept into the game without punishment.....when was the last time you saw such an incident punished?

I guess Savage was rehearsing for his part of Roman 1 in the Glous rugby team production of the passion of Christ.

Is Fatty Goode still playing.............surely Wasps have a better 10?

Goode's a very good 10. Just because he looks stupid doesn't mean he's not still got the skills.

They've signed Ruaridh Jackson, though, who I think is a quality club 10.

But he does not have the speed around the field that say Jackson has got? Is Jackson injured or on the bench?

gotta say watching that gif of the north incident i don't feel the clear out was warranted.. he'd literally just stood up, and had been given no chance to retreat in anyway.

I would agree with what you say but he should have rolled out of the way before standing up and he knew by just standing up there he would be providing cover, from an offside position, for his scrum half!

On the bench, but I still think Goode has a lot to offer, despite his lack of pace. Vast amounts of experience, great distribution and kicking - when you've got players like Wade and Varndell on the ends of your moves, your 10 doesn't necessarily need to offer a massive running threat (though he is massive, so is a threat when running :p)

I think North could've moved away a bit, looks like he stood up where he did to slow it down a touch (i.e. no rolling, stood directly up rather than stepping away) hhoowweevveerr I don't think the hit was warranted. Could've just shoved him onto the ruck, which would be the standard response (and probably what I'd do if someone stood up directly behind the ruck, and didn't look like moving).

Goode has been a very very underrated player but last season he was poor.

View from the first 30 minutes:
Our attacking structures are still meh.
Great to see Cittadini
Miller not had a great start

Ok...lets us see how he goes and presume Jackson will come on at some stage...

Looks like he was hit by two players at the same time and wonder if they planned to actually hit North or whether he just got in the way as it was all very quick and they were moving pretty quick!
