Jean De Villiers spear tackled Rene Ranger, nothing happened.

Zane Kirchner clothes lined Cory Jane, nothing happened.

Rene Rangers makes a solid tackle against Zane Kirchner using the arms and gets a penalty, around the waist aswell.

Rolland biased? Hmm?

I would say the All Blacks got ''ripped off'', they were all over the Boks and they were extremely luck to get the two tries that they did.

Was anyone else impressed with Morne Steyn's defence tonight? Very impressive, tackles that the likes of Pierre Spies and Schalk Burger were missing, he was nailing.

Good performance by him, I guess.

How Danie Rossouw got a yellow card in the first 5 minutes, only the ref will know. Whats worse he's kept off for 12 minutes.

As a Springbok supporter I would also love refs start penalizing McCaw for his ongoing off-the-ball activities, diving over the ball in the ruck and continual off side plays which has been a "feature' of his play for years. I will keep on hoping........
I thought that yellow was a bit twitchy. Not deserved imo, a penalty, sure - but not a sending off.

Wouldn't have made a difference though. Apart from the goal-kicking and lineouts, the ABs were impressive.

Dannie Rossouw sin binned after only 3mins, for what? Your guess is as good as mine. Two tries were scored by the sixteen all blacks on the field at the time. Funnily enough one all black was not wearing all black, he was wearing yellow and blue and went by the name Alain Rolland.

The entire game was a farce. The sin binning of Rossouw denied any chance of a springbok win. John Smit after the game commented; "We are looking forward to seeing what we can do with 15 men on the field... Two tries were conceded in the time Danie was sent off"
Shark Bait. Probably change your name to 'Toll Bait, mate. ;)
Why was Danie rossouw instantly sent off, for nothing more than what should have been a 'calm down' talk? Also, why was ranger not sent off? and why was MaCaw given 70 warnings but was never sent off? NZ were also VERY guilty of falling over the ball numerous times. It was an abysmal display by him. I also found nonu's try very suspect. Nice of the NZ TV crew to not show a proper replay.

We wouldn't have won anyway, as NZ were better than us both in attack, and defense, but Rolland certainly made a nice dent to the scoreboard.

Kirchner had the best game i have seen him play. Aplon needs to start at wing, like we have been f*cking saying all season.
Agreed.

But - SA showed up this week, and were MUCH better. Tighter set-pieces, and much better ball.

Kirchner is once again, brilliant. I still dunno why Frans Steyn is favoured (I suppose you guys see more of him) but I thought he had another good game.

Aplon is very dangerous - IF he can hang onto the ball.

Spies was average again. Showed up by Read once again.

Otherwise, a good effort by the Bokke, but not enough against this AB performance.

They should win against the Wallabies. Be very surprising if they don't win by at least 15.

I was also having a closer look at the game of Spies, but he didn't do that much.

First off,Conal. Its not about adding ten points. Its about momentum. The sin binning prevented the Springboks from gaining ascendancy early on. Duh.

Iron Mike; De Villiers did not "spear tackel" Ranger. Check the rules, all he has to do is put him down safely, which he did.

Jan fell over as Kirchner made the tackel, it certainly was not on purpose.

First off, it was around the chest... So when you say around the waist you lose all credibility. Secondly, there has to be an effort to wrap arms around the tackeled player by the tackeler for it to be a legal tackel. Law 15.

Also, you said the following; "Rolland biased? Hmm?" You suggest his is not bias in that comment and then straight away say the All Blacks were ripped off? Make up your mind, either he is bias or not. What about McCaw, he got a final warning about a billion times, nothing...

Mate South Africa lost ... nothing you can do about it :D

Did not say I could.

But as a rugby fan I may voice my opinion on what has happened... After all is that not what this web site is about?

Ye have an opinion but the way you make it out you feel you deserved to win the game. The All Blacks played the better rugby.

I feel like we deserved a chance to win the game. It was over after three mins... Is a chance too much to ask for?

Nope. It is not... And Botha is gone. Fair enough... But Dannie did nothing wrong...

Is self discipline in the forwards too much to ask for?

You spoke about not being able to get momentum because of the card, but it came that early on surely they could've built it up in the 66minutes after he came back on?

The new official stance on ''lifting the ball carrier'' is that, if their legs go above their head, i.e turned, even if it is 2 inches, it is an instant yellow card, that is the rule all across rugby, club rugby, school rugby, age grade rugby, professional rugby.

It doesn't matter how safely they are put to the ground, which wasn't really safe as he landed on his shoulder / neck.

Urm ... Roussow was sent to the bin for hand to the eyes and kicking out?

We are talking about how JDV spear tackled Rene Ranger.

The South African doesn't think it was illegal at all, just pointing out the official stance on lifting a ball carrier.

It wasn't carded or penalised either, that is why we are discussing it.

Ok lets entertain the idea that Ranger was illegaly tackeled... What impact did that have on the game, and how did it compare to the sending off of roussow?

and to the guy that asked the question about the momentum and why they didnt build it in the remaining 66mins... They were forced to play catch up rugby...

It had an impact on the game because JDV should've got a yellow card and South Africa would've performed better :)

No he wasn't biased, he missed calls on both sides, but I thought at the rucks and scrums he was pretty spot on.

JDV is a world class player... So I am going to dismiss your comment as supreme ignorance... But you did not answer the full question. How did it compare to the sending off of roussow?

Shark Bait, Rossouw slapped and then kicked McCaw. It wasn't hard, but it was stupid, and if you mees up in front of the ref like that, you run the risk of getting sent off. That simple. Stop having a cry because your team loss. You claim that that 10min was what destroyed the Boks, but they were down by 3 points with 15 men on the field at one point in the FIRST HALF so your point about momentum after he came back on is rubbish lost. There were times when South Africa cheated and got away with it, Dannie Roussow just wasn't lucky. Starting *****ing sessions about Roland being bias and being the 16th man just shows your a bad loser. Now, argue further or continue to throw away what little dignity you have so far?

It is relevant to Brousow getting sent off, as it shows Roland was not bias towards the All Blacks, as that could well have been deemed a yellow card to JDV. It is not just All Black fans claiming JDV should be in trouble.
WELLINGTON, July 17 (Reuters) - South African wing Jean de Villiers will appear at a judicial hearing on Sunday after being cited for a dangerous tackle during his side's 31-17 loss to the All Blacks in their Tri-Nations clash on Saturday.
De Villiers was cited by citing commissioner Scott Nowland for the tackle on All Blacks' winger Rene Ranger in the 27th minute of the match, governing body SANZAR said in a statement.
He will appear before judicial officer Dennis Wheelahan of Australia in Wellington on Sunday.
De Villiers is the second Springboks player to be cited in this year's competition. Lock Bakkies Botha was suspended for nine weeks after he admitted head butting All Blacks' scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan in the 32-12 loss last week at Eden Park.

Who started the poll, "Were the Springboks Ripped Off"? If it isn't a mod I'm taking it down, as it just makes for a whining session. If people want to contribute by offering actual evidence to their claims, then by all means do so, but starting a poll shows very little but imaturity and a case of "put your hands up if we should have won".

If Shark Bait wants to deny any kick -
