A Political Thread pt. 2

Actually think Starmer is answer questions from the audience very well. Showing real understanding of the brief.

Referencing the immigration stats before and after Brexit really shows how much of a lie it was.

Yup Rigby has done a good job at attacking both leaders on what their voters care about.

Sunak doing a far worse job of listening to the question and communicating the improvements he'd make. A lot harder from a position of 14 years of power.

I've just noticed with Sunak's attack on Starmer, Starmer didn't do it once.

**** that

Thank God it won't translate to seats.

Still pro PR **** Farage PLC.
I think it might. Massive pro-Brexit areas (if they still exist) or the most far right parts of the country could very well swing towards Reform. Tbh, much as I hate them, I think them getting seats if they get a large share of the vote is right and fair, I also believe we should move to PR even though it means the likes of Reform get in. Let the Tories fight for the right wing vote rather than getting it by default.

Most models say support for Reform will just split the Tory vote and just lead to less right wing seats and doesn't translate to seats for Reform.

Models tend to work on trends and past averages and don't account for freak occurrences and outliers, Reform overtaking the Tories to 2nd is both.

Asked why he (Sunak) thought opinion polls were suggesting some Conservative voters were turning to Reform UK, Mr Sunak said "we're only halfway through this campaign". He also repeated his insistence that "the Conservatives had a "tax-cutting manifesto" whereas Labour was "going to put your taxes up".

You can't make it up can you? Tories raise the tax burden to the highest peacetime levels since WW2, they decimate public services meaning they will cost a LOT to bring back up to speed, and then turn around and say they are the party of tax cuts and Labour are going to put taxes up... Does anyone still buy the bullshit of the right wing taking what they have done and pretending it's actually their opponents who have done it or will do it? This was like May boasting about how they were increasing the number of police whilst ignoring the fact that it was on her watch that they dropped to such low levels to begin with.

This is very typical of how they have operated, take the cake and then demand you heap them with praise for offering 1 slice back, and it will be the smallest slice with all the nice bits removed and only because it's gone a bit stale. They talk as if it's Labour who have been in power the last 14 years.

I'll never understand why so many people get sucked in by the likes of Farage and Johnson. Farage has absolutely no intention of working in Government and making a difference to people's lives because he knows he'd get found out - just like Boris Johnson was. He just wants to make a living out of mouthing off from the sidelines - just like he did when he was an MEP.

Give it a few years and there will be a clamour for Boris Johnson to come back and save us all from oblivion.

It's nothing really deep. They do well in times of hardship. They're snake oil salesman at the end of the day. They promise a lot to desperate people, play on their fears/dreams but honestly don't care for these people at all. They're a means to an end.
