A Political Thread pt. 2

Read his statement what a **** what actual ******* ****.

IDK.

There's enough for them to both go but, whatever you think of them individually and their party, could it really be in the county's best interests for its 2 most senior politicians to stand down simultaneously mid term?

Probably moot as I reckon Johnson will almost certainly try to brazen it out.

Sunak is different. He might just decide he's had enough. And regardless is no shoo in for the top job as he might have seemed 18 months ago.

Party reaction will obviously be crucial.

Neville Chamberlain and Sir John Simon famously won WW2

Sorry have no time for that ******** sentiment.

I would agree if they were both critical to the functioning of the Govt but Boris certainly is not - everyone knows the Tories elected him leader not because he's the best candidate to be PM but because he's a campaigner and seen to be their best chance of winning elections. Sunak could be replaced quickly and easily by someone like Javid IMO.

Them remaining in post sets a dangerous precedent in that it's ok for senior members of the Govt to break the law and lie about it in Parliament.

**** him, **** his government and **** anyone who still supports them. I am done with this. I don't give a damn if you oppose left wing politics, abstain in that case. If you continue to support this shower of lying, immoral, completely devoid of integrity ******** just because they are on "your side" then you are part of the problem.

It is mad tbh that the press were briefed about the event at the time and it went very under the radar - evidently he legitimately didn't think he was breaking the rules (that's not an excuse, it just makes him an idiot)

Yes
Yes it is
Our choices are to have a criminal a confirmed liar in both 10 and 11 Downing St; or to have a conservative party leadership election.
There is no world where the former is preferable to the latter

In normal time then yes I would agree it shouldn't be an issue - but to have both go in the current climate would be a risk.

It may be a risk you think is worth taking, but to pretend it's not an issue at all is disingenuous

What benefit do they currently bring to the UK that their departure would affect?

I agree it probably is a moot point, but I honestly see nothing in their governance that makes me think this country would be worse off without them.

And that's before we get to the morality of the situation and how it affects our country's reputation and image. Hard to criticise other countries' leaders when our own are blatant liars and criminals.

See above so we change our entire government during the second World War but now isn't the time.

**** off you disingenuous prick.

I'll repeat the same question as I did for Old Hooker. What benefit do they currently bring to the UK, that their departure would affect?

I never said it was risk free, just better than the alternative in every world imaginable

What about the "current climate" is more urgent than, for example, WWII?

I have a new game i invented earlier disingenuous prick or idiot. As far as I'm concerned any defence to these people staying in power makes you one or the other.

Ok bud relax I didn't say I don't think he should go. Think and take a big deep breath before you get all sweaty and red faced.

I've been saying since it first broke that I thought he was done.

Fyi changing gov before WW2 was a risk of course lol. Just because it paid off doesn't mean it wasn't a risk

Nah **** off, done with your constant disingenuous bullshit.

Using Ukraine as an excuse not to resign is just pure ****** IMO.

Yeah I still don't subscribe to the idea that he's 'having a good war'. What's he done other than condemning Putin and using soundbites like 'Putin must fail' on twitter? He's not really been faced with any real conundrums or tough calls and is simply following the US's lead in what has been a coordinated response by the west/NATO. In fact he was facing a lot of criticism at the start for being slow out of the blocks by issuing such piffling sanctions compared with the US and EU.

You could put deputy PM Raab (yawn) in temporary charge and we'd be no worse off.
