3rd TEST: South Africa v Lions

Well done BIL good game well played. Got absolutely smashed afterwards with some Lion supporters actually only celebrated the series win this weekend. Never celebrated as much after the Boks losing a game.

No. It's because many of you seem to forget that we fielded a second team today[/b]
What happened to being gracious losers? Funny how we havent seen any of that at all.

Aside from 2, 4, 8, 11 and 15 that wasnt too far off your best team. And a lot of them are close calls. 9,10, 12 were the S14 combination. Zane was the Bulls (and form) ful back. Pack was harldy impacted at al.

Look at the lions players missing. BOD Roberts Byrne Jones Jenkins Ferris. Add this to the weird selection of Worsley (did alright) over Croft, the likes of Flannery O'Leary and Shanklin who didnt even get to travel and the mish mash of our own backline and your point is moot.

[/b][/quote]

Obviously you didn't read my first post. And as for Zane Kirchner, he is vommit, and was NOT the form fullback of the super 14. He just happened to be in the form team, so everytime the Bulls performed, and he happened to touch the ball, he was hailed as being brilliant.

On In this game, we were completely outplayed. Everywhere. The Lions wanted this win badly, and really did everything to get it. I wanted them to win, as i feel they put a lot into this tour, and don't deserve to leave empty-handed. They are a quality side, and showed today that when things go right for them, they WILL run over you.

On the issue of "our best players"...

- What do you think our counter-attack play is like when you take out Bryan Habana and JP Piterson, and replace them with 2 guys who have not played in the same team before, and who last played a rugby match 2 months ago?

- Then you take out a centre partnership, and basically cut it in half. Jean de Villers and Jacques Fourie work well together. Always have, always will.

- Now, all of you NH posters have been going on and on about how **** Francois Steyn is, and how he is not worth the money, bla bla bla. Sir Speedy in particular has blasted Steyn on many occassions. Did anyone see the difference this guy made when he came on? I have always ALWAYS said 15 is his best position, and he is a guy with incredible talent. He played well all tour. Zane Kirchner started his first test ever, kicked everything away, butchered a try, and pretty much played the way he always does.

- Next we have the forwards. I thought Kankowski didn't do too badly, and Smith and Brussouw had good games too. The Lions were just better on the day in the loose. Thanks to Martyn Williams having a really good game, and Heaslip finally showing good form.

- We have the best lock COMBINATION in the world. Although, one of them got taken away for this match thanks to a stupid decision. So basically, Matfield was alone, and just couldn't do all of the work needed by 2 locks. Heck, Muller is not even our second choice lock!

- I thought the props did pretty well, although Chilleboy was suffering at scrum time. When Bismark came on, the scrums were a lot more stable!

So saying that apart from X Y and Z we had our best team, is honestly such a stupid statement. Especially the fact that you are forgetting that everyone has had a lot of game time on this tour, compared to a South African team with 10 changes, all of who have not started a match in over 2 months. I'm starting to think that all of the NH boys are only out to prove that their players are better than ours, and always will be. That's the only thing any of you seem to give a **** about. "We are better, were better in the first test, and better in the second test. He is better than XY and Z Springbok players..." seems to be the general NH consensus.

My fiance works in a hotel, and when i fetched her yesterday, i was greeted by some Lions fans waiting in the lobby. I had a Springbok Jersey on, and they had Lions jerseys on. So, naturally, i looked over at them and congratulated them on a fine performance. You know what their response was? Here is pretty much what our conversation was before i left:

ME: " Great game, were you guys there?"
THEM: "We were, and we finally saw that whenever we are about to beat you blokes, you go out to hurt our team, because if all of the referee decisions are fair, and you don't fight, we will beat you any day of the week. We were robbed of this series."

I just gave a smile and left. I was heavily outnumbered, so violence wouldn't have worked. Basically, it says a lot about you guys. Also, there are many of you on here that just can't seem to admit that you were beaten in this series by a better team. We had our issues in the first games. Players, coaching decisions, and as constant 'foul-mouthing' coming from the Lions camp. Yet we stuck at it, and won the series. That says a lot about a team's character, as well as their ability to grind out a win whenever needed.

I love the players you guys have over there. This was an incredible team, with so many exciting players. EVERY SINGLE player was good on this tour at some point or other. But i find myself right back to square one of hating all of them, and hating their fans, because when i say Tom Croft was great, the reply i get is "Yeah, Spies WHO?" It's beyond annoying at the moment. It just always feels like the only thing any of you give a toss about is whether or not one of your players is better than ours.

Honestly, the Lions were unlucky a number of times, but just weren't good enough to get over themselves and win the games that mattered. Players like Paul O' Connel and Mike Phillips just couldn't shut their mouths about how they were cheated or robbed. Not one of them congratulated John Smit on the series win. I have lost all my respect for them. Then, because of one idiotic moment in a players career, the whole world has branded the Springboks as a group of thugs who can't win when playing fairly. Absolutely disgusting. Now all i am reading is that the Lions should have had more time to prepare, and that it's the organizers fault. What the f*** is going to be next???

Yes, we lost yesterday because we were beaten by a far better team. But i am sick and fu*king tired of every message saying that we are a crap team, overrated, dirty, and have worst players position for position.

I am just thoroughly relieved that this series is over. It has done more harm than good, and that's an incredibly sad fact.

Not quite all of us...

I like Steyn. He still has a long way to go before becoming the finished article but he has all the necessary skills in his locker to go on and become a great of the game.

The team you fielded, against the one we fielded. As opposed to your best team, versus our best team. I was talking about this game, and then finally about the times when your best team played ours.

I apologize though, sometimes i confuse myself.

Several points

- The Boks were weakened in the 3rd test. But then again so were the Lions.
- A test match is still a test match and you can only play what's in front of you.
- There was an equal number of selection f-ups from both parties over the series, from selecting Vickery ahead of Murray before even leaving the UK to replacing Du Prez with Januarie at the wrong time in the 1st test.
- Burger IS a dirty little thug who need to be locked in a room with Buck Shelford, Chuck Norris and Time Rodber for 20 minutes. That may just sort the horrible shitehawk out.
- Botha did NOT deserve a ban. However those "Justice 4" armbands were up with the most pathetic gimmicks I've ever seen at a rugby match. Whoever gave them the green light needs a lobotomy.
- The media need to hand their heads in shame the way they've stirred up a melting pot of bullshit and over-reaction, creating this sense of intolerance and stupidity between rival supporters.
- While we're at it, Shaun Edwards and Paul O'Connell should never be allowed near a microphone again.
- For that matter, Shaun Edwards should never be allowed near a game of Rugby union again.
- And Peter De Villers should never be allowed to breathe again.
- Simon Shaw is a complete twat and living proof that a Wasp will never change its stripes.
- The Beast is a very average prop made to look good by an even worse"raging bull". Mute point displayed by both Jenkins and Hayes. Murray would have (as previosly prooven) obliterated him.
- Had an over-rated American f***wit not been the only available selection for Ireland at 10 for the past decade, this series would have been tied. Which on reflection would be a fair result overall.
- The 2nd test was possibly the best test match in rugby history. It was certainly up there with the best.
- Certain SH members can forever STFU about "NH players can't run and only kick the ball", look at the points and tries scored statistics.
- What a shame tests 2 and 3 weren't swapped arround... How exciting a finish to the sereis would that have been?

Yeah screw team spirit and the bond these players feel for one another. I mean it has got them no where all they have to show for it is a lion series victory and a WC.

Get real. You think he's the only player to ever suffer the citing officer getting it wrong?

When i first saw the armbands I thought they were in honour of the Sevens player who was in the car crash, I was pretty shocked when I saw them up close.

If Bakkies died, fair enough wear an armband, he got a two week ban for f*** sake!

Sad and pathetic is all it was.

No but if they feel that they would like to make a statement on the issue they felt was unjust so be it. They were sticking up for their team mate nothing wrong with that.

Showing such public dissent is tantamount to bringing the game into disrepute and smacks of a ponceball mentality. Then again, I don't think I've ever seen ponceballers stoop that low. Remember - Soccer's the game where you can get sent off in the first minute.

You ever think that he made a difference when he came on because the guy who started was utterly cack?

Seriously though, he had a solid tour, but he wasn't that good. He has the potential to be an excellent player, but he hasn't shown form remotely close to what it could be.

Also, I'm hardly one of the 'big' Steyn bashers, unless you're referring to steynboi, who I enjoy bashing. Very much.

If you dont want the opinions of non-springboks find a different forum. More importantly of you cant differentiate between WUMs and standard posters maybe you should stay off the internet full stop.

Personally im sick to death of all the Bok posters effectivey begging to be recognised as the greatest team to walk the planet in every post. Insisting that we recognise fairy average players as the ebst in the word when they are cleary ............... average. When they dont get it they decide to despise anyone and everyone from an entire hemisphere. laughably sad.

The Boks are word champions for a reason. They just beat the lions for a reason. Probably because they are a class side. They are nowhere near as good as you guys think you are but they are a class side all the same.

Now get off your soapbox lose the victim complex and think of this as preparation for the tri-nations excuse fest your all about to embark on.

Tough at the top! ;)

Don't worry - your depression will pass when NH fans turn their envy to Aus after SA end up bottom of the 3N.

"JUSTICE" = a British & Irish Lions Test Win

Well done to the Lions! Jamie Heaslip played his balls off! I was more than happy to see Hayes get in there.
I'm sad the tour is over as this has been some of the best Rugby Drama we've seen in a long while. Excellent hard fought matches from both sides all the way through. The ending was definitely deserved for the Lions who have played heart and soul in this series.

I'm sure the Lions players feel it's unjust that Burger only got 8 weeks (as a fan I certainly do), didn;t see any armbands on them.

Calling football players ponceballers makes me think that your mentality in accessing other peoples sports is a little flawed. I do however agree to some extent that it was a little OTT but they felt very strongly about it and wanted to show strong support for their team mate. It was not directed at the Lions or any player but more at the inconsistent citing process that is currently in place.

If it does serve to improve the process then everyone benefits.

But isn't that, in effect, showing obvious dissent towards the officials.
