[2017 RBS Six Nations] Round 2: Wales vs England (11/02/2017)

Itoje definitely isn't a long term international 6 (in fact, he played a lot of the game at lock) but damned if I see the point in dropping one of our two best players to move him up and accommodate a rookie when Itoje had a decent enough game today.

Why have we suddenly had to put up Butler and Jiffy? Poor Moore barely got a word in....

Might actually be better than the French commentary....when they get excited they literally go "lolololololol"

But yeah I've always wondered how they manage to stealth in Jiffy AND Butler.

A suggestion maybe a little out-of-left-field, looking past this Six Nations. Could Carl Fearns be our answer to the pack problems? A ball carrying 6, only 27, apparently playing well for Lyon (albeit at 8), and available for England this summer when he joins Gloucester. He could also play at 8 whenever Vunipola isn't available.

I mean, provided his form doesn't tank upon joining Glos. Which is very possible.

Trouble with Fearns and England is that he has signed for Glous the graveyard of English players of whom only May has really survived ;).

I expect him to be with England but watching the tigers game today Glous need a new forwards coach most of all.

Who's the Falcons backrow? Always MOTM or it seems he is

Wilson isn't up to international riugby IMO.

But Clifford and Harrison are?

Totally disagree. He's very athletic, but I just don't think he's big, powerful or plays tight enough for lock.

Obviously Sarries have different priorities than Eng, but I see his international future as 6 and in the long term, possibly 8.

All this talk of the replacements for the Italy game reminds me.....isn't Watson due to be available for this one?

Fearns is my ideal 6, said it for years.

I'd honestly look at Haskell at 8 next game. Haskell has carried better in his two cameos than Hughes has in his two starts, and he has plenty of experience there at club/int. level.

English fans tonight in bed will be like:

Does Rhys Webb use the same fake tan as Donald Trump? Looks like he's been in Greece for a month

Surely Brown's days are numbered. Daly at 15 with Watson, Nowell and May competing for the two wing spots

Always liked Fearns rugged / aggressive approach.

Thought one of the criticisms always levelled at Hask was that his carrying was comparatively weak. Hughes is still v new at this level, but there have been some encouraging signs. With 10 more caps under his belt I think he'll look a very different player. Don't forget that he's an easy target to mark as we haven't got many other carriers at the moment.

For a guy who's not powerful enough he looked pretty good packing down at tighthead lock today - which he did on a number of occasions.

Not unless Daly is playing there, or at least at wing, for Wasps. He took his try well, but was beaten in the air every time today. For me it's Watson at 15 with May and Nowell on the wings. But I agree we need to look beyond Brown.
