For sure, I'm in no way trying to suggest Francis did nothing wrong. I fully expect and would hope some sort of punishment coming his way. No matter who it is and against who, gouging is a heinous act that has no place anywhere near a rugby pitch.

I didn't know that Roma and Travellers where protected Races (Or whatever it is called).

Surprised about travellers being covered by it, Esp after the run in i have had with them not to stereotype but a lot of it was about tarmacking the drive and selling Chainsaw's from the back of their 4X4's which looked very suspect for the price they were wanting.

But guess it is class as a race. Depends on Lee I guess.

Have to say my few dealings with them have been less than glorious (although my wife's family does have some gypsy blood from about 100 years ago). It's still unwarranted on the rugby field though as noted is Itoje, Watson, Tualangi, Vunipolas or Joseph had been told something they'd be a ****storm far greater than this.

It should be noted racist language is way more about intent than the words used. Was Marler being a mate when he said it? Nope he was trying to provoke a reaction and was being derogatory. Like I said it was mild but most standards but I'll be surprised if Marler gets off with slapped wrist.

Alright then. You go out and shout "oh black boy" or "oh gypsy boy" at people of those races. Let me know if they get offended.

In regards to the Francis incident, I'm not convinced it's accidental. Does look like he's going for the eyes, so needs a long long ban. Gouging is the worst thing you can do on a rugby pitch imo, so book should be thrown at him.
