[2016 RBS Six Nations] Round 4: England vs. Wales (12/03/2016)

Jourbert didn't make that call, the 4th official did. So anyone having a go at him needs to reign it in a bit.

I also think that it was a very different situation to most accusations of gouging, as it happened in the act of clearing out. More usual that it happens when both players are already on the deck in a ruck. Will be interesting to see what the outcome of a citing is. Could easily have been a yellow though.
Precedent set a couple weeks ago will let him off sure, if you try to clear a ruck anythings game!!

*calmly waits for bite, I'll be eating fish tonight*

Gatland giving England credit through gritted teeth, all down to Farrell's kicking as Wales beat us 3 tries to 1...not that Wales haven't beat us by the skill of the boot over the years, have they?

Doesn't really cut it I've seen plenty of refs take charge once it's been made clear to him what happened based sanction Joubert was clearly shrugging off responsibility.

Don't get me wrong TMO deserves a right hiding for this too.

Ignore this one please. I made a bad. Sorry Alpha Bro I love you.

Joubert is a huge joke.

Makes ones colossal f*** up with the Francis call, so balances it out with another colossal f***up with calling North in touch. Idiot.

TMO called one, touch judge called the other.

Yeah he was passing the buck and its not good enough the referee is in charge not the TMO. From the second he was told he "definitely made contact" there only one end to that decision.

But the TMO has the better view. For me, once it's initiated, I'm not going to blame a ref who goes along with the TMO. The ref trusts the touch judge to call touch, he should trust the TMO with his calls too. Admittedly, he could hear a wrong one being made... but I blame that more on the TMO than the ref.

edit: Generally when I see the ref take charge of the TMO situation, I see mistakes.

No mention of Haskell.

Not sure if serious.

Re; 'worst offenders'. Haskell nowhere near as bad as the three mentioned who gave penalties away on a regular basis game after game.

Serious, you bet ya.

Again. Oh rly?

Ehhm... Uhhhm... Ahh...

Hmm?!

Think you may have misunderstood me.

Complicated thoughts about that last 10 minutes.

Francis should have 100% gone. Yellow at least, red more likely.
Cole was lying in the ruck because he'd just been poked in the face. I think the card should have been rescinded tbh.
It's absurd that in that situation, England are the team down to 14. Joubert had a very bad minute.
That being said, England were heading towards a team card anyway. Had Cole not gone, someone else probably would have. On the other hand, the penalty from Francis' poke would have relieved pressure and it may not have come down to that?

Wales were dominant, but I doubt they would have been as dominant if England had a full 15 on the field. I doubt they would have scored two tries. But I also doubt they would have scored nothing.
On the other hand, would any of SANZAR conceded two tries in a handful of minutes when down to 14? Being able to defend when down to 14 is a part of the game. Joubert may have pulled the sword out, but England were the ones that fell on it.
The changes clearly had a big impact on our defensive structure. Where was the leadership? Robshaw probably wasn't the one that should have been sacrificed for a front rower.

Wales deserve credit. They were on top for a lot of the second half, even the last 10 aside. England also deserve credit, because they dominated for longer. The right result happened in the end, so not too unhappy.

If Francis had been off the field when he should have been, we wouldn't be talking about this close victory.

Thought Joubert had the arm out for advantage from the maul going down before that point?

Nice job, Thingimubob, but save your breath, the English are "world beaters" again. They have God on their side. The unwashed do not not have an opinion worthy of their righteousness. Meanwhile in everybody else's reality England did what England do. Look good.......till it counts.
