Should be a wales win yet we were saying that last weekend!. both teams will be wanting a big improvement on their last games. i'll go with wales by no more than 6 at the moment. team announcement for wales is tomorrow so that should give a idea on the whole biggar/fullback situations

That's generous to Scotland. I don't think Scotland have it in them to up their notch, especially away against the (joint :)) best NH team

gotta give them a little credit, they are improving. their backs seem to be hot and cold though. some games they are on blistering form then others there is no threat at all. cant recall any moment of them really threatening in the england game, so i doubt they will score any tries against our defence this time but if we get on the wrong side of the ref then they could kick their way into the game.

as for biggar update, nothing as of yet apart from management have said its not a long term injury, but i expect he will be ruled out of this game just in case, with either anscombe or priestland playing at 10 -

EDIT: according to wales online the WRU are holding a press conference at 1pm today so we should have a bit more info this afternoon

On paper this is our toughest game of the campaign and I would expect Wales to win by 10. We have a poor record against the Welsh although we should have won last year - let's hope there are no ridiculous red cards this year.

Obviously Scotland need to greatly up their game, but as they've shown in the past, that can and might happen. Awareness of where Roberts is will be crucial for Russell and the centres. Catch him out of the line and Bennett can capitalise very quickly. Getting in behind the wales rush defence is key. I'll take Scotland by 10.

I predict a Wales win. At best Scotland will keep it a close game till around the 60 minute mark then the poorer Scottish fitness will kick in and Wales will pull away. If Wales are ahead or equal at half time, I'd say they will win. Scotland score the vast majority of their points in the first half and if they don't have a decent lead by then, they are unlikely to win.

Neither side showed any ability to penetrate defences last week but I'd wager the Scots are more likely to make a costly error than Wales.

Cut out the mistakes made from last week. There is a chance we can win. If we don't cut the mistakes out we won't win.

The Scottish club sides have done well against the Welsh club sides in the Pro12 but the difference between us and them in recent years is that the Welsh players can cope with the step up to international level and have been able to lift their game accordingly whereas we have struggled to bring the same level of skill and accuracy to the international stage. Let's hope the players can deliver on Saturday and make this much awaited breakthrough because the next two games are must win if we are to salvage a respectable campaign.

Agreed, if Scotland can score a try then they can score some points. If they get more points than Wales then they should win.

i agree they should go out to play better than the other team, and aim to score more points than the other team over 80 minutes

Wales team to face Scotland: Liam Williams; George North, Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, Tom James; Dan Biggar, Gareth Davies; Rob Evans, Scott Baldwin, Samson Lee; Luke Charteris, Alun Wyn Jones; Sam Warburton, Justin Tipuric, Taulupe Faletau.

Reps: Ken Owens, Gethin Jenkins, Tomas Francis, Bradley Davies, Dan Lydiate, Lloyd Williams, Rhys Priestland, Gareth Anscombe

-------

should build on last week but worried for biggar, if he takes another knock then it could be disastrous for us. as good as priestland was v ireland i wouldnt fancy him playing against england

Duncan Taylor in for the injured Matt Scott. Hopefully Alex Dunbar isn't too far away. Been a while since we've seen him and Bennett together for Scotland

Scotland: Stuart Hogg; Sean Maitland, Mark Bennett, Duncan Taylor, Tommy Seymour; Finn Russell, Greig Laidlaw (captain); Alasdair Dickinson, Ross Ford, WP Nel, Richie Gray, Jonny Gray, John Barclay, John Hardie, 8-David Denton

Pleased for Anscombe and hope he sees some action; but are we a little short on wing cover with only Liam W to move or Lloyd "left peg" Williams to come on...?

Think the idea is that Anscombe covers FB, if a winger gets hurt then Williams moves over, and if a centre goes down then North bumps up and Williams again moves to wing. Nice to see Anscombe get a shot but still want to see him get a good shout at 10 to see if he can cut it there, too.

VC has stuck with last week's squad which is indicative of the faith in the current squad . Much depends on the half back fluidity . Felt that Laidlaw's service was too laboured last week and the backs were not allowed that vital moment to show their capabilities especially Bennett . Russell is a talented fly half who has stuttered of late . Methinks it will be a close one and trust that it will click !

i cant imagine either sides will have good ball for the scrum half with basically 4 sevens on the pitch scrapping for turnovers haha

I think Bennett was also suffering from a lack of match fitness against England having just come back from a shoulder injury. Hopefully he'll be raring to go this weekend.

Bennett is a class act and if he stays fit will always a be potent source .
