[2015 TRC] South Africa v Argentina in Durban (08/08/2015)

Lol. One day you and me should sit with some Biltong and watch some ruggas all day.

I think HM wants to give JDV the benefit. Let him have a run out and see what happens. If he's not up to standard, then no harm done. We still have time to get them to match-up together in the match, which I think will happen anyway, as I can't see JDV play more than 40 minutes, maybe 50.

The 1st paragraph sounds like a good idea!

The 2nd is probably fair enough and I tend to be on the same page that I'd be surprised if JdV went the whole 80 but at the same time having him start rather than come in off the bench just makes me feel that this is the route HM plans to go forward in any case; it just feels predetermined rather than experimental and I doubt the result (barring either *massive* positives or negatives) will have any bearing on future selections. But that might just be pessimistic speculation from me an nothing more. I'll try to be more patient but damn it's been a long 2 weeks since the Jo'burg game without any rugby!

I'm most looking forward to Ayerza and Koch lining up and hopefully they do in fact line up *straight*, hey, Marcos? Marcooos??

Might be of interest:

· The Springbok starting team boasts a total of 651 Test caps (341 in the backline and 310 in the forwards), while there are a further 137 caps worth of experience on the bench.· South Africa and Argentina have played each other 19 times since 1993, with the Springboks winning 18 while one match was drawn. The Springboks have scored 728 points and 88 tries and conceded 361 points and 33 tries for an average score of 38-19.
· South Africa and Argentina last met on August 23, 2014 at the Ernesto Maltearena in Salta. The Springboks beat Argentina by 33-31 thanks to a late penalty from the boot of replacement flyhalf Morné Steyn.
· Bryan Habana will extend his record as the most-capped Springbok wing, with 107 caps in this position. If he scores a try he will extend his own record of 57 Test tries for South Africa as well as most Test tries against Argentina (5) and the Rugby Championship record of 18 tries. He will also play against Argentina for the 10th time, breaking his own South African record.
· Jean de Villiers will extend his record as the most-capped Springbok centre, with 91 Tests in this position and will captain South Africa for the 35th time, placing him third behind John Smit (83) and Gary Teichmann (36). Jean will also be playing in his 51st Rugby Championship game to extend his own SA record.

· There are three sons of ex-Springbok players in the team: Ruan Pienaar (father Gysie), Schalk Burger jnr (father Schalk snr) and Cobus Reinach (father the late Jaco). Pieter-Steph du Toit is the grandson of Piet "Spiere" du Toit. Patrick Lambie is the grandson of a former England international Nick Labuschagne.
· The Springboks' captain and vice-captain for this weekend, Jean de Villiers and Schalk Burger, both matriculated from Paarl Gymnasium.
· The referee is Romain Poite of France. It will be his sixth Test involving South Africa. Of the previous five South Africa have won three and lost two. His last appearance was in November 2014 against Ireland in Dublin, a game the Boks lost 15-29.

JDV back?! Crikey that is some recovery!! Maybe it will inspire the Boks to the 30 point win that is within their reach!

Looking forward to seeing which Hernandez turns up! El Magico or his alter ego of the past few seasons.....

One flat and one forward pass and one try!

SA will need to score 38 points now!!

Good try and nice move started by JMH no less!!

Am I the only on watching this walk over for Argentina who have almost total control! Where are you Conrad? Back to bed and overslept?!!

Edit.....there you are!!

What's the score? Go Pumas, hope they get a win.

6-21! Another try for Imhoff!
Argentina looking very dangerous. Back to their days of lots of unorthodox offloads and line breaks.

South Africa look off the pace though and making some pretty basic mistakes.

Wow! Third try........this could be some walloping for the Africans!!

So many mistakes from poor passing, Berger chucking the ball here there and everywhere, running poor lines and losing both the break down and the tight!

Could be even worse had not JMH missed three kicks!!

Another try! I can't believe it!!!!

3 tries in 30 minutes at Durban against the Boks!!!!!!
