[2015 Six Nations] Wales vs Ireland (Round 4)

He probably surpassed his international career to be honest, thanks be to BOD!

Yeah, he was a better player having played with BOD but at the same time he was somewhat under-appreciated because of it. There were a couple stages of the players' careers that D'Arcy was the better player, 2004 immediately comes to mind. Obviously it wasn't often though.

Yes , agree with that. Overall , probably the best centre partnership in the 6 Nations since it commenced.

That is arguably the worst assessment of anything I have ever seen in my life.

I was waiting on the biased blinkered dumb ass typical irish response... He would not lace any other centres boots in the world... O Driscoll retired from a broken back, carrying that waster for ten years.

Yes 2004 comes to mind, that was eleven years ago mate... Last time he played well... I worry about people like you being allowed on a forum

You are bang on mate, he walked into that team for too long unopposed.

that picture is actually them laughing at the thought of the best Centre pairing to ever grace the 6Nations being the Darcy & BOD :D

You're a fool. I can think of one time in his entire career that he missed a bad tackle, vs France 2011, to cost us a game. The way he created space for O'Driscoll, who was always double marked, was incredible. There's a reason he was unopposed and it was because, up until November, he was head and shoulders above any other 12 in the country, none could defend like he did, none could create space and distribute like he did and none were an attacking threat like him. The last time he played well was not 2004 but 2014, again he was better than BOD and played a more vital role in winning the six nations. He's an unsung hero of the Irish rugby team and we should not be celebrating the fact that he's been dropped but be hugely disappointed that his legs couldn't carry him 6 more months to get a player of his class to the World Cup.

Nothing like an Irish sports hipster to boil blood! If one good thing came from Ireland being bad at rugby a could years ago is that you lot were more interested in German football.

Edit: @goodNumber10, I thought it was Greenwood and Tindall imagining how good life would be if they had been as good as BOD and D'Arcy respectively, non? :p

You are making a little more sense now. He did know how to defend and he did make space for his centre partner, but he was not a threat going forward, which made life easier for teams playing against us, he was a good player, and I'm being generous, he was not in top three centres in 6N except in 2004, I think he won player of tournament. I know he is irish but take off the blinkers. Time for fresh blood.

Know when you are beaten cmac... They didn't win World Cup with bad players, they were best in world at the time, can't see them repeating that feat anytime soon however...

I didn't disagree that he shouldn't be in the squad but to call him a waster? Bull****, you don't have to be good going forward to be a good player and D'Arce was good going forward in his own right. BOD has played outside Wallace, McFadden, Greenwood, O'Malley and not looked as good only Roberts has formed as good a partnership with him. D'Arcy wasn't a world beater for most of his career but he was always a very good international inside centre up until March last year.

And all that with GN10 was a wee joke, hope you understand! ;)

I've got a ticket for this game, can't wait. Should be an intense battle, hopefully it's not all kicking, and some good rugby get's played. I'm far more comfortable about this game after the France game, we shored up a couple of areas that was really worrying me beforehand in that game, namely the scrum, lineout, maul and kicking game. If we can repeat that, we'll very much be in this game Imo.

A lot of matchups I'm looking forward to here. Second row should be a ***anic battle, with two similar pairings. Backrow may be key. Two form halfback pairings facing off as well. Centres could be another key area, bit test for Payne and Henshaw Imo. Kearney v Halfpenny, two of the best fullbacks under the high ball!

On paper it should be a cracker.

This will be more of a classic as both teams are very similar in a lot of areas. I think whoever gets it right at the breakdown will be the difference. As you say a lot of form combos on both sides going up against it.

What time is team announcement?

Never mind it's 1.45pm

-Ian Keatley might travel to Cardiff just as a precaution, although Johnny has had no problems with his hamstring and Joe is confident he'll be able to see out the game
-Joe says he thinks it'll be an entertaining game as Wales have an extremely good kick game too. We'll probably see a bit of everything
-Cian Healy is knocking on the door to get back to starting but Joe wants to reward Jack McGrath who has kept us his standard since SA game
-Joe talked a lot about the quality of the Welsh side, in particular; Biggar, Webb, Davies, Roberts, and the back three, Liam Williams being a fullback brings a huge advantage to Wales.
-Talked about concentrating on getting Madigan more training and time at 10, and how he's at a disadvantage not having a concrete position.
