[2015 Six Nations] Wales vs Ireland (Round 4)

It was the most confusing moment of my life, it took me a full minute to move afterwards and this was during Uptown Funk!

Sorry to run off on a tangent, but the 'new sound' that Ronson has discovered is shockingly similar to the 'not so new sound' discovered in 1987...

Isn't all this a bit pointless. I hate way IRFU name 46 guys when there's 2 games and well at max there should be 34 men there. No need for this big a squad.
However I'd ask is Bent gone ahead of Kilcoyne?
Is that the final nail in D'Arcys international career?
Is Gilroy completely out of reckoning?
Is McFadden deemed unwanted too?

Gilroy should really have been in there, he'll definitely feel hard done by considering the squad size. He's back to his best in my opinion. I'd have to ask what Jones adds more than him? Schmidt clearly likes him and his work rate, but for 1 on 1 player beating there isn't many in that Irish squad who could better Gilroy. He can also cover full back but considering the general 1st team I don't think there's too much need anyway..

Yes, yes, hopefully not and yes I'd think. Bent has been a rock this season, one of Leinster's best performers in a bad team. Unfortunate but necessary, he'd be holding them back at this stage, every Provence has at least one better centre.
Gilroy should be there, anyone hear murmurings of any misbehaviour that's kept players out of squads before?
McFadden hasn't improved like other wingers and doesn't fit the gameplan... :(

Have to agree about Jones. He made some silly errors at the weekend in the PRO12 and Gilroy has been super, but then again, I trust Joe and his judgement so in joe we trust.

Haven't heard anything over Gilroy. And regards Bent I haven't watched as closely but do think a lot of his critics were judging him on his TH performances only which isn't fair but interestingly Leinster have 8 players in the front row included. I think Kilcoyne is unlucky but it doesn't mean much as regardless they're not going to play.
Regards D'Arcy you probably have it right.
Gilroy I suppose is a flashy guy but is it that Joe prefers guys that are more effective aerially now as it is a key element of the game plan. I thought McFadden would be a Schmidt type of player in that he works hard and does dirty work like getting involved at rucks etc

Gilroy looked pretty solid in his positioning, kicking and aerial effectiveness on Saturday as well as the ball in hand stuff - but, the evidence of Schmidt's tenure is he doesn't like changing his squad much once he's picked it at the start, and Gilroy doesn't have the international credit in the bank to change that. What he's doing will be considered come the summer, not now.

Probably.

Only thing is there is no summer really only Baa Baas game. Agree he's playing well but as I seen with Zebo last year he was given work but at least was in the camp sparingly to see what's going on. Like effectively Gilroy seems to be 8th or so on pecking order.

Wales have named their starting 15. Unchanged from the French game. Do they normally release it this early? (Forgetting about the English game?)

They always used to announce the team on Tuesday unless there were any doubts re injury.
I wish soccer did the same, its ridiculous announcing the side half hour before kick off and does punters know favours who want a bet.

Hmmm weird. But anyway, fantastic Welsh side. We're going to have a tough day on Saturday. The kicking game simply won't be enough on its own. EXCITED!

Johnny Sexton fit to play on Saturday. Crisis averted.

Jamie Heaslip, Jared Payne, and Sean O'Brien also all clear to play on Saturday.

I'm feeling confident about this match. I think Ireland are stronger in most areas and will strangle the life out of Wales and do a job on them up front. England were very dominant and should have won more comfortably.

Should be a great game, but it will be a penalty competition, and could be just a forward battle combined with a kicking tennis. On another note it's about time darcy has been shown the door. He hasn't fulfilled his potential at international level. Irish fans too complementary of his abilities. Hasn't made a line break in 5 years.
