[2015 Six Nations] France vs Wales (Round 3)

Halfpenny is one of the only players who has actually made a successful move to France, so I think things are fine on that end.
Seems like the language always isolates players at first, but sounds as if he is doing fine now.
It does seem as if we are a nation of mums boys who hate leaving the street, let alone country!

France do look like a bad version of South Africa alot of the time with what they do, and the one time in the match they went to being French they scored their try. It's been like that or France throughout Saint-Andre's reign, they seem to have no game plan or structure whatsoever. When they play with direct quick ball from their forwards and a backline who throw the ball around at pace they look very good, but their negative attitude and incoherence with their ideas off slow ball and set piece ball is the reason they're in the mess they're in

This is true. The only time I began to sit uncomfortably in the whole game was when the forwards began to offload time after time after time.

odd thing is that Saint-Andre is still blaming the French top 14, and is saying that French club first choice kickers are foreign when of the french 6 nations squad Lopez is first choice for both Clermont (Top of top 14) and France. Rory Kockett is first choice for Castres, Morgan Parra is usually very reliable, and experienced goal kicker at international level. So that excuse doesnt really work.

You have to understand PSA is an arse, alike able one, but an arse!!

Noves gave 24 games to a 20 yo kid who is Nyanga 2.0 when he has FOUR international backrowers with well over a 100 CAPS to pick from

what does that say about Noves coaching of youngsters vs PSA's? Then he hears from the national coach that youngsters don't get their chance in the league

That will not go down well with the clubs....

yeah, but how many toulouse players are in the french national team just now?
dusautior, huget, meastri, that's it.

Noves is another one who has alot to answer for with the decline of French rugby as Toulouse this season (even though they have alot of French players) look like they've had almost every strip of flair and creative instinct sucked out of them.

Ridiculous :D Toulouse are not responsible and this is not Noves problem either. He doesn't coach les Bleus.

You're back in the FFR logic here: let's blame the clubs for our own failings.

FFR have done the damage all by themselves. They can get their internationals elsewhere.

nah you dont get my point

im not saying noves is responsible for the national team, but the fact that toulouse are an example of everything thats gone wrong in french rugby, that they've evolved into one dimensional unimaginative dullness with their rugby.

i dont back PSA whenever he blames the top 14 for the state of the national team, its a weak get out clause of his. He has enough talent and depth at his disposal, and he doesn't use it well. His selections over the past 3 years have been woeful

Did anyone see this at the end of the Scrum V special on Sunday?

So this is what Chabal gets up to in his spare time these days...

Not when you look at the generations of top players we've produced and a trophy cabinet like no other in Europe.
The mere fact Toulouse are no longer dominant shows the league has become much more competitive than it used to be. Many used to complain we were too dominant! It's much more open than it used to be. And yes it's mostly forwards rugby with big packs. It's always been that way.

This is modern rugby. Defenses have taken over. How's that Toulouse fault?! It produces the rugby you're describing. It's all over not just here.

Steve Hansen was saying the same last weekend even suggesting IRB should change the rules to allow for attacking rugby and more tries

You're barking off the wrong tree here. If you're looking at what's wrong look no further than FFR. Plenty of examples that say why http://www.therugbyforum.com/threads/34837-Why-is-Saint-Andre-s-record-so-poor-with-France?p=704503&viewfull=1#post704503

They're not half as dull as the majority of the games in 6N. Look at the number of posts complaining about the drudge we've seen so far in 6N!!!

Read my posts of the last two 6N......why should it change this year!!!

The format doesn't help the 6 Nation teams, to be fair if it was home and away then teams would know they can get a second bite at the cherry and they could play a more expansive style.
However, sometimes you have to trade in excitement for intensity an there has been some delivery on that element in the 6 Nations this year.
Ireland keeping out France and then keeping out England were intense affairs that demanded viewing.
The Irish try was full of guile and opportunism and it was a special moment in the tournament.
Yes the 6 Nations can be a dour affair at times and the fact that once a team goes 3 and 0 you almost always have the winner or a slam so... hah, no pressure Ireland.
It does bode well for ireland in the RWC though with France in their group.
