[2015 Six Nations] England vs France (Round 5)

Shambolically entertaining is the phrase that springs to mind. France were slightly the more shambolic, but would have been a lot closer with a goal kicker in the side.

Congratulations Ireland

Amazing game. England - keep needing improvement. Two steps forwards, one step back. Gutting to come that close.

England's backline:

Decent game, that.

Exciting, but a bad game of rugby.

Last week the grinding Irish went through 33 phases, and Wales told them to FO.

This week a bunch of children turned up at Twickenham and chucked it around to see what happened. Total lack of structure in defence, and defence is the bass line of rugby's music.

One thing for sure - neither France nor England will win the world cup because SH teams will eat them alive. If I'm wrong then I prefer league or American football, because they have rhythm.

In the broad view, I think we've just seen Thatcherism on the pitch, and I wonder what sort of deals were done in the background to serve up this nonsense and make the crowd go wild. Nigel Owens is a great ref, so I've no doubt about him - I suspect sponsors have got to the management.

Completely contrary to the the eejit comments by the haggis eating noob that seems to have joined us, I thought Nigel Owens was excellent today. His superb game management allowed the players to play the game, and the result was what you saw, the most open and flowing 6N game in decades.

I've been watching, first 5N then 6N, since I was a teenager; that's about 45 years. For much of that time, matches have been dour, uninspiring and sometimes downright boring. I don't recall ever seeing an England v France match as exciting as this.

Poor trolling effort.

Is it possible to be the weekend with more points ever scored by the 6 unions???

Yup Owens was great as is his usual game hes not perfect but he's usually a class above the rest. Cares about the game to the extent just want players to play.

Wow. What a game. Player ratings for me:
1) Marler - 6.5 - Made his tackles well and got around the pitch
2) Hartley - 5.5 - Did more than usual, which was still almost nothing
3) Cole - 7.5 - Some great turnovers and made lots of tackles
4) Parling - 6 - Solid
5) Lawes - 7 - Snapped another 10 in half, got a turnover, did well in general
6) Haskell - 5.5 - Was ok, then gave away a stupid yellow which proved very costly in the end
7) Robshaw - 7 - Couple of great carries and made loads of tackled as per usual
8) Vunipola - 7.5 - Great tackling, strong carrying
9) Youngs - 9 - Sniping was brilliant, created most of our tries. Let down by a couple of stray passes, one of which gave france a try
10) Ford - 6.5 - Created well but had kicks charged down
11) Nowell - 7 - Finished both tries well
12) Burrell - 5.5 - Anonymous, needs to be replaced by someone (Tuilagi/Slade?)
13) JJ - 8 - Great running, always a threat and superb defence
14) Watson - 6 - Quite quiet put took his try well
15) Brown - 6.5 - Solid as always

Best thing about Owens is why you notice Owens is because he's a great ref. If they were all like him we'd not talk about refs.
