[2015 RWC] Semi Final 1: South Africa vs. New Zealand (24/10/2015)

All Blacks aren't the French.

No, but I feel that if there's a time for this confident All Black team to choke, it's against RSA in the semi's. If RSA surprise the All Blacks, they won't be able to put it together. However, if the All Blacks start well there will be no looking back.

There's a difference between confidence and arrogance. I do NOT think the AB's are arrogant! They are confident, and deserve to be. They worked hard for it. I also don't think the AB fans are arrogant. If the AB's were MY team, I would go into the game smiling. Be honest, EVERYONE would be shocked if the Boks win. I support my team, always will, but I'm realistic and I believe that respect should be given when deserved (same respect I owe the Pumas after their game, and my feeling that they are overrated. They proved me wrong).

As an All Black fan since the mid early 90's, I (we) have learnt to never be too confident.

The difference between arrogance and confidence is simple...who has the bragging rights? Simple really.

Thank God I'm from NZ and not arrogant yet .............??????????

Great!, the ref for Saturday's semi-final is the same guy that reffed the SA vs Japan game. And guess who is one of the touch judges, every springbok fan's favorite ref in the whole world, Romain Poite. The All Blacks definitely have this one!!

Garces as referee for me is a good thing. One viewpoint i have in life is that things have a way of balancing out. With Garces again at the helm, the Boks can lay the Japan ghost to rest. It will take a mighty mental effort, but it can be done.

Nope, can't agree. Confidence is supporting a team that's doing really well. Arrogance is how some of the England supporters behaved on this forum after the SA/Japan game....and it came back to bite them in the @ss.

Fair enough, between NZ and SA according to your annology, how many times have NZ beaten SA? if SA won one out of 5/67/or 8 games and the opposition kept on blaming refs/coaches/colours/IRB etc etc, would you call that Arrogance?Ignorance? or just both.

Arrogance is simply thinking you're better than what you are without nothing to prove it.

Did you actually read my post???????Can't for the love of me understand why your revs would be high....I said I DON'T think the AB's OR their supporters are arrogant.

So in simple words, being arrogant is being an @ss....are you one, because then you can see yourself as arrogant if you want to.

Sorry mate, too many beers....no I din't read your post, my head was too far stuck up my own arse

brother!!!!!!!!!!

Let's just agree to disagree, the All Blacks are better than the Spring Boks without sounding arrogant.

Off to sleep now. There's no problem being confident but being arrogant for a Saffa is just hillarious.

This man is drinking in the week. Beer as well, I applaud you good sir. You'd fit in well here in SA, or I'd fit in well in NZ. Can I come crash on your couch and drink your beer?

But could it also be a realistic view after all the All Blacks have not exactly been the most successful at the RWC.

In almost every cup we have gone in with the mantle of "favourite" and failed dismally at every one away from home, why is there any reason to believe this one will be any different.

The form in the pools was decidedly indifferent and outside of 20-30 minutes in the second half the match against France wasn't really anything to write home about, yet because of that 20-30 minutes we are suddenly unbeatable again?

Can we win the cup, indeed we can but there is nothing to say we will and all three of the teams left in the competition can beat us and two of them routinely do.

I'm struggling to reconcile your words with the math. I said the game would have to at least be 60-40 in favour of the ABs, but IMO more like 70-30. Thats hardly unbeatable is it?

I think I get what you are trying to say but you are a little all over the place to be honest. Eg "two teams routinely beat us" out of OZ, SA, and Argentina? Who would they be?

Cause since the last RWC SA have a win percentage of 14% vs the ABs, OZ 9%, and Argentina have never beaten us. None of them are routinely beating us I would have thought!

But I do hear where I think you are coming from, its just that even still, when you convert all that to numbers you'd still be hard pressed to find anyone that would say this game is 50-50. That being said, if you do generally believe what you are saying, you should head down to your local bookie cause they will give you 3:1 on SA, a price it would seem you would want to be all over ;)

Sure thing bud, why not? Afterall, let's face it, Saffas are the new refugees now aye? Anyway, I've got work in the morning, sleep well.

That is true enough! I'm not ashamed to say that if I get the opportunity to go overseas I would take it in a shot. I love this country, culture and nature but there are some dealbreakers for me.

Lets wait till the teams are announced tomorrow and then we can rinse off everything typed here and have at it all over again. Yay!!

Look i think NZ Supporters has a right to feel confident after their team ripped open the french in many places. Heck after the springbok wales game i went to celebrate at a local bar and
watched the France vs NZ game and already at half time i thought the score was big. After full time all of my friends were in agreement that its going to be one hell of a mission to beat the all blacks after the way they played.

But... i would like to point something out. The springboks are not the french and we apply a different kind of pressure than the french does. The springboks played very well against the usa beating them 64-0 but they did not put the same kind of pressure on us as Wales did and as a result our handling, Tactical kicking and goal kicking suffered to name only a few.

My point is that yes new Zealand played very well against the french but they wont play nearly as good against the Springboks. Not because I think the all blacks cant repeat a good performance like that but because in the close games between these teams its a whole different dynamic. NZ wont smash us and that goes both ways. It is going to be a close game. Richie won it for you guys on one of the last moves of the game last time out and its going down to the end however cliched that might sound but its true.

Referring back to some of the earlier posts in this thread that its not arrogant to think that the all blacks will smash the boks. I do in fact think its arrogant. Just because we played out of our skins in the 2013 rugby championship to beat Argentina 73-13 and then Australia 38-12 did not mean we were going to smash the all blacks the next weekend.

With all that said i think New Zealand should win this Saturday if form tells us anything. Hoping for the best though.
