[2014 TRC] New Zealand v Argentina in Napier (06/09/2014)

I do feel like we are getting the rub of the green with these scrum calls. Although argentina is promoting open side of the scrum hard well before the ball is in.

Mccaw needs to talk to the ref to set the scrum up square before allowing the ball to go in.

Argentina have started pretty well. Some really dodgy calls going against them too. Tight game the first 15.

Argentina far more combatative and competitive than I hoped they would be but we are only 17 minutes in. Love them to be able to keep this up!

Didnt you watch the games against SA? this is no suprise to me. They were VERY good in Welly last year other than the last 20 minutes and this looks like a better team than then!

Argentina is by far the most underrated team in the world.

They are playing slightly to loose atm though. Thats the AB's game and they wont win it.

Argies looking good at the moment. Certainly offering more of a challenge than we did so far.

Well worked try.

Dagg is looking like the Dagg of 2011. Where has he been the last 3 years?

Whitelock off injured. Bugger.

Austingtir...that was against a poorish SA team who seem to have been asleep for most parts of both games and this is the AB's....

I stand by the fact that I did not expect them to be this close after (now) 30 minutes or to be as competitive as they are despite that super AB try! I did not expect to see the AB's more reacting than proacting but the conditioners are a great leveller in that respect.

Also they tend to fade and I hope that they continue right the way through the 80 like this although I do think that that will be very difficult.

The weather is also a big leveler. If this was a clear afternoon i think AB's would be well ahead by now. Safe to say Arg have probably got the best scrum in the world atm.

Maybe a spoke too early re: Dagg. That's two knock-ons in the last couple of minutes...

Zomg Retallick just got a nice battle scar.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Tighthead. Try. Great time to strike.

We need to stop making mistakes in the last minutes. Every single ****ing game is the same. Mental.

Interesting that the tighter fitting jerseys of the Pumas are proving more easy for the AB's to hold than the AB's which means the Puma's LH sees his elbow coming out and a consequent loss of control and power....

What a try made by Barrett...........

That was terrible by Argentina. Barret must be the fastest fly half in world rugby. No doubt.

could there be an upset on the cards ? :)

Nope normal service resumed. Argentina are good though. VERY VERY unlucky with that "tight head". The AB's did manage to put enough into the scrum to get that result though so they gotta get some credit for it was more of arg 8's mistake though by the looks.

Barretts speed is ridiculous!!

Whats scary to me is Argentina under WC rules next year. Even the pool match will be a hum dinger is suspect.

Argentina were just overly sure that they would take that last scrum. Barrett saw the hole because Argentina were lined up for an attack and it was great support for the finish. Would like to see where the Arg back row were to leave that hole.

Not sure what happened in the scrum, it looked like the Arg number 8 kicked it back in after a mini push from NZ?

I think thats the thing Arg werent expecting there scrum to move back by 10mm for a split second and lost control of the ball! : ) There scrum is dominant theres no denying that. But certainly the AB's are doing better than SA.
