Transfers rumours

Thought Mike Haley to Chiefs was on the cards, maybe Munster's name thrown in to muddy the water's.....

I'd heard this, but it was rumored before Cordero's signing. To be fair, adding another FB still wouldn't represent an embarrassment of riches and Rowe is on record as saying that Chiefs have some wiggle room within the cap (albeit a few months ago).

This might sound a little harsh on Codero (who I do like) but if him only staying till the end of season meant we had the cash for Haley then so be it, ideally have both but I'd take Haley starting FB for the next 4+ years potentially and possibly good enough to play for England but always likely to be behind others, so he'll be available all year round...

Cordero's not definitely off at the end of the season. Baxter said something along the lines of that if the move ends up being beneficial for both parties then he'll stay around. This season appears to be very much like a taster session for him to see if he wants to stick around. I reckon he probably will.

I'd be happy to see him stay and add Haley, are there any backs off at the end of the season, have you heard anything?

I'd have thought Haley would take up a lot of money for a 2nd choice FB. Especially considering Dollman's hardly ready to put out to pasture.

Exeter re-signings are going to hit them in the cap aswell.

From what i gather Cordero will stay at chiefs end of season, barring a meltdown or something.

That's a concern, rumours Bath were prepared to go to £600k for Slade, some big contract's coming up next year...

We do need to be very wary of the amount of players we have. For example, the amount of centres we have is just madness. Hill, Devoto, Slade, Campagnaro, Whitten, Laverick, Strong, Hendrickson, Skinner, albeit a few are dually contracted with the Pirates but it's still beyond excessive. We could go without half of those and be perfectly fine.

The impressive form of home grown players isn't going to help with the cap either. Simmonds will likely go from being on pennies to one of our biggest contracts.

A good point but maybe it's a case of if Haley's coming up as available, so if you want him (as some rumours have suggested) than you have to take him now or risk him going elsewhere...

Yep.

Also Harry Williams who signed a new contract in Jan went from a cheap young championship signing to becoming a England International that will be a Yuge increase especially since wages have gone up massively already. Players like Steenson and Lees will prob stay the same though.

2019's a big one Nowell, LCD, Hepburn, Slade, Armand, Devoto, S Simmonds, Francis, Woodburn, Dollman and still Ewers to renew this year..

I expect Francis will leave. I doubt a Welsh international is too happy being stuck at 2nd choice for his club.

Devoto and Dollman to leave?
Yeah I expect Devoto will leave but I can't see Dollman going anywhere else. If he's out it'll be retirement.

I could also see Woodburn leaving. He's good enough to be a Bath starter now and he seems to be closer with his old teammates than with his current ones. That, with what would also likely be a pretty hefty contract would be a dream scenario for him.
