Transfers 2014/15

Bakkies Botha to retire at the end of the season.
Joe Pieterson from Biarritz to Cheetahs.................good luck he was crap at Biarritz!!

Interesting fact y'all. John Hayes has been in more scrums career wise than Adam Jones. Conceded less pens at scrum time than Jones and won more scrums against head AWKWARD

dear lord

to be fair if you took away hayes last two-ish years i could have believed it

Bristol's majority shareholder is a billionaire whose open ambition and belief is that Bristol belong in the Premiership and that they will continue to build and maintain a Premiership-worthy squad until they get there. Money is not an issue. They'd probably sign Dan Carter and Israel Folau tomorrow if they could.

As for Jones - he's presumably getting a decent whack and doesn't have to move very far. You can see the appeal there, even if he could have earned more elsewhere.

edit: Duck's assertion that this is basically the end of Jones seems very premature.
He could probably play for Bristol for 2-3 years. He could probably make decent money doing it.

I think the issue is that the Championship is no place to keep up your scrummaging and match fitness skills. If he moves to Bristol, he won't be back into the Premiership until next September, at which point I suspect he'll be out of Wales' plans for the next WC, and there's absolutely no Wales future for Adam past next WC. The next WC is his last chance, and I think he does himself a disservice by lessening his chances to play in it.

He should have made a one-year deal with a Premiership club not in the HC. Play some top scrummagers in the Premiership, get some rest during HC rounds, get ready for the WC. He can then make the money move to Bristol the year after.

Can I just point out nothing is official regarding Jones' potential move to us. Its still rumoured

There's rumours of him going to Saracens or Sale as well. Not definite for any yet.

I think it's safe to say he'll be playing in the Premiership or for Bristol.

Been at Biarritz for....6 years?

Happy enough - would've preferred an out and out 6 or 8, however this shows that we want to play two 7s at all times. Worked well enough last year, so if Lund is half as good as he was when he left then he'll be an able backup to Seymour n Braid.

Scotty - it's genuinely quite difficult to understand a lot of your posts.
It might be an idea to double-check what you've typed before you post.

I'm not taking the ****.

Brett Thompson ------> Edinburgh

He's got a really impressive highlights package on youtube. Seems to have a really aggressive running style and plenty of size and power. Good running mechanics as well. He's got a lot of potential. Reminds of George North in a way. I could even see him developing into a crashball centre for the USA.

They got plenty of those already, what would be a much better find is a player who can create some space for the wingers.
