The Ukraine War thread

I've found the attitudes of Germany and France in particular to be one of the major reasons the EU isn't taken that seriously internationally. I understand not wanting to be war hawks but sometimes you just have to face up to the fact that some people will choose war and you must be prepared to fight them. France and Germany have acted extremely naively towards Russia and continue to do so. How the hell can they think a "peace" where Russia gets what it wants will be lasting seeing as how it didn't work previously and has never worked for Putin's Russia?

Hmmm, replacing sec. def usually not a good sign.

That said, they'd not have been a decision maker on operations, more (abstract) logistics.

Too be fair everyone apart from the Baltic States and Poland have been naive with Russia. Lucky for Europe Poland's military plus expeditionary forces from stronger NATO members like the US, UK, Finland and Turkey would stop a conventional Russian attack but it would be good to be able to have France's very capable military onside if things went south

I agree many were naive before. The issue is France and Germany in particular still seem naive and don't seem to have learned that there is no negotiating with Putin. He's like Hitler, appeasement will just make him come back for more. At some point the west needs to properly square up to Russia and say enough is enough. The longer it isn't done, the worse it will be.

Kim Jung Un to meet Putin to supply the Russians with weapons according to the US.

They will be high quality and reliable then. They are definitely scrapping the barrell buying from Kim Jung and must be burning through hardware. It could also be the sanctions are kicking in on parts etc.

First challenger 2 bites the dust. Hopefully the crew got out ok and the tank can be recovered so assesments can be made.

Confirmed that the two ships hit in the dry dock yesterday were both hit with Storm Shadow and both completely destroyed. That's the first Russian submarine destroyed since WW2

Lies, everyone knows it was just an accident with 2 Russians smoking particularly large cigarettes next to the fuel and ammunition storages.
