The Movie Thread

Saw Fast and Furious 6. Hilariously OTT and cheesy at times but actually a good film. I'm a fan of TFATF films (except 4, that stunk) and this fits the franchise, people will no doubt say that techically its a bad film but I had fun watching it and to me if I've enjoyed watching the film then its good

I was pretty impressed with the 50km/30mile runway at the end...

Man of Steel, really enjoyed it but then I've always been a big Superman fan. Can't wait for the inevitable sequel witch I'm guessing will have Lex Luthor as the villain.

Upstream Color, not bad at all. Excellent cinematography, best I've seen.
Storywise, not as good as Primer, but certainly a more 'developed' product. Can't wait for A Topiary if it ever comes out.
Primer is on Youtube from time to time, and Netflix depending on your country, well worth a few watches if you have some spare time.

I watched the Wolverine on Sunday.

As a big Marvel and X-men fan, I really Enjoyed it. And the Ending... Man that made me so excited!!

Pacific Rim which was surprisingly good which was probably due to low expectations, the plot is meh generic as plots come. Giant Robots punching giant Lizards is very good though.

I'm a massve Marvel comics fan so I'll be heading to see it this week, glad you think it's good.

I'm most looking forward to a Deadpool movie that Marvel have been trying for a few years to get off the ground. I just hope its got that really tragic dark touch to Deadpool - rather than nothing but the shallow wise-cracks of Wade Wilson in Wolverine Origins.

I heard they cancelled the movie for Deadpool. I know they released a Deadpool game last month, and It's reviews weren't that impressive...

So yeah - its been cancelled and then been well underway many times now.

The DP game was disappointing for a number of reasons. The first is the breaking of the 4th wall thing was far too central to the plot - and the two voices in the head thing has been abandoned by every good writer of the DP comics - but reintroduced by every bad one, one of which helped write the script for the DP game. I'd agree it was a fairly average game, but I think that's because the entire game was about the gimmicks of DP but lacked any of the really dark stuff which I think you have to have to make DP anything more than an ultra violent Looney-Toon.

Test 2:

I don't think they ever made a truly good super hero/comics based film just yet. I was a fan of Iron Man, the book, as a kid. I think the movie was a disaster and didn't bother with the 2nd.
I think the Dark Knight series is close to horrible. Took Batman way, way too seriously. The Dark Knight itself lasts 3hrs, has wayyyy too much going on, some random shyt here and there, has looong stretches, and just isn't well structured.
The X-Men were fine but a little too Hollywood. Could have done quite a bit better...

I'm saying this because I'd have liked more out of them.

I'm going to ignore Yoe because I don't want to start WW3...

Went to Now You See Me a week or two ago. I enjoyed it, it has some impressive effects, chases and twists. The big twist was partially ruined for me because it turns out I have the strange ability to recongnise and actor from behind with his hood up.

Threw The Right Stuff in the other day. Entertaining, if not a bit drawn out. A must if you're at all interested in the origins of the US space programme.
