The Movie Thread

That's a shockingly bad line...contrast it to something like..
Who is Keyser Soze? He is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Soze. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, ****. He's gone.

Watched Amadeus and The Prestige recently. Both are top films.

Two of my favourites, key parts of my DVD collection....F. Murray Abraham is spectacular as Salieri, amongst some other amazing performances in Amadeus.

Edit: Been thinking of watching Dark City again, haven't seen it in a while a movie I love.

I've always liked the line at the beginning of the Godfather:

I believe in America. America has made my fortune. And I raised my daughter in the American fashion. I gave her freedom but I taught her never to dishonor her family. She found a "boy friend," not an Italian. She went to the movies with him. She stayed out late. I didn't protest. Two months ago he took her for a drive, with another boy friend. They made her drink whiskey and then they tried to take advantage of her. She resisted. She kept her honor. So they beat her. Like an animal. When I went to the hospital her nose was broken. Her jaw was shattered, held together by wire. She couldn't even weep because of the pain. But I wept. Why did I weep? She was the light of my life. A beautiful girl. Now she will never be beautiful again.
Sorry...
I went to the police, like a good American. These two boys were brought to trial. The judge sentenced them to three years in prison, and suspended the sentence. Suspended sentence! They went free that very day! I stood in the courtroom like a fool, and those two ********, they smiled at me. Then I said to my wife, "For justice, we must go to Don Corleone.

So glad it wasn't just me who thought Prometheus was full of holes.... was starting to think I was in the minority

Really? I appreciate the heads up because it's all on me to pick the film we go see this week and I was trying to decide between Prometheus and That's my Boy.

"Now you will receive us.

We do not ask for your poor or your hungry. We do not want your tired and sick. It is your corrupt we claim. It is your evil that will be sought by us. With every breath, we shall hunt them down. Each day we will spill their blood til it rains down from the skies.

Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal, these are principles which every man of every faith can embrace. These are not polite suggestions â€" these are codes of behavior. And those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost.

There are varying degrees of evil, we urge you lesser forms of filth not to push the bounds and cross over into true corruption, into our domain. But if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three and on that day you will reap it. And we will send you to which ever god you wish.

And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. We shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti."

What an awesome movie

Ah but it's a political film  or so the director argues before the film starts with metaphors!

On another note watched J.Edgar ... cracking film.

Nah man it was about these two short arse blokes with one desperate to destroy the others ring

Watched a couple of good films this week... Chronicle was like Cloverfield meets Kickass, liked it and sets up a franchise with unanswered questions regarding its mythology.

Then watched The Nines... f**kin awesome. Difficult to categorize but like an existential pulp fiction (narrative broken up into three distinctly different parts) set in a Sims-like world. Also drug use is advised when watching this one
