The Movie Thread

Watched Primer recently. Not bad. Need to watch it again soon, I think I missed quite a bit first time around.
Also watched Boy. Quite a good film. Really good acting, Waititi was able to write, direct, and act without any issues. The nipper who played the lead was outstanding. Enjoyable film, not a heavy plot but certainly refreshing compared to the other rubbish that is being produced.

Last week I watched Hunger Games, The Avengers and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy... All 3 were great, but the Avengers was the best of the 3 for me... TTSS took a long while to get going and I nearly fell asleep...

Hunger Games wasn't bad, but rather predictable.
I haven't seen the new TTSS, but the one series with Alec Guinness was indeed very good.

The gf and I ordered TTSS on box office the other day, both of us though it was long-winded and boring. God only knows what the critics saw good in it.

Saw The Avengers and Cabin in the Woods the other day (Those Cineworld Unlimited cards really are a beautiful thing) and thought Avengers was utterly terrific throughout. CITW was more of a mixed bag- I absolutely loved the first hour-and-a-bit, but then it seemed to lose itself. I'd still reccomend both, even to you regular citizens who have to pay money when you go to the cinema. (Ha!)

Deffo want to see Avengers, looks great. Also want to see the Bourne Legacy when that comes out.

Saw Cabin in the wood the other day it was alright but the ending was odd some.

I saw the dictator last night, nearly didn't get in because the door fella wanted I.D luckily I had my school card.

Great film, as funny as Borat, as racist as Borat but not quite as crude which will suit some people.

I went to see The Dictator with Cmac, and I felt the same about it, theres actually a few subtle jokes in there.
I too went to see Cabin in the woods and despite enjoying it I came out feeling angry and couldn't stop poking holes in the plot for the next two hours. I'm planning on seeing Prometheus when it comes out, it looks right up my alley

Die Hard 4, with that sexy Asian girl as miss evil :)
Still need to find time to watch the three other movies.

Prometheus in 3d. As someone who's never seen the Alien movies for one reason or the other it was very enjoyable. Michael Fassbender was very good as usual. This will sound a bit off but that guy is too Aryan for his own good. I'm not generally a fan of 3d but I felt it really added nicely to the movie. Giving great depth to it (that is not meant to be a pun by the way).

Just seen Prometheus, loved it, had a crisp view and lovely cinematography and brilliant settings and sets.
The actress seemed a bit like a horse.... Still would
Other than that it was all good :)
9/10

Looking forward to seeing Prometheus. The challenge is getting the girlfriend to go because she saw the trailer and thought it was a bit too scary. I'm not a horror fan myself but I loved the Alien films especially the second one (Aliens) which was more action based.

I have seen lately the Dictator, Battleship, Men in Black 3 and the Avengers (which I liked even more than those other three combined).

Watched Battleship on Thursday.

It was better than I expected, and Rihanna was badass!!

Good to see the Friday Night Lights cast also making it into big movies (landry and Tim Riggins)

I saw Dictator yesterday, very funy but not for everybody. I can recommend it.

The best movie last time i saw was Intouchoubles, good balance between comedy, and drama. Fact that it's true story make it much intresting!

Saw The Dictator today, loved it. Very funny and his best work since Ali G In Da House. Nice to see him in a proper film again instead of these "comedy documentaries" like Borat and Bruno which I did not like one bit.

Saw trailer for Ted too, that looks good and very funny.

In the past seven days, I've seen Snow White & The Huntsman (Her off Twilight kills it by just being too miserable), Men in Black 3 (Good fun), Dark Shadows (A bit rubbish), Moonrise Kingdom (Charming), Top Cat (Absolutely terrible, and I'm a big Top Cat fan. Avoid it at all costs), Prometheus (Good, but I was hoping it'd be scarier), The Dictator (Good start and end, but lost its way in the middle. Still quite funny) and the Angels Share (Really rather good, to be honest) as well as seeing both the Pirates and the Avengers again. My eyes hate me.

Another Earth, thought it was pretty poor.
Interesting concept but altogether rather predictable.
