Saw the Taking of Pelham 123 this morning. What a film! Best film I have seen in a long time, kept me engangd throghout the story and genuinley wanted to kno whow it ends. And the plot is easy to follow which is rare as lost of films have plots that are a bit complex.

Totally agree. Better than average film!

Taking of Pelham 123 was (IMO) the best film of last year, but I'm a sucker for those sort of films.

Saw Inglorious ******** last night. Despite Tatintino movies normally replacing cleverness with shock value (see: Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction), I was really impressed with this - The script was utterly fantastic and Christoph Waltz stole the show... I didn't realise it was possible to watch a war film and like an SS officer!

Saw "Daybreakers" yesterday - beginning of the film was intriguing with the futuristic, "real-world" setting and blood deprived vampires - ending was a bit questionable and a letdown. Decent performance by Ethan Hawke as main protagonist.

Seen a crap load.

Land of The Lost. Gah, the worst Will Ferrell movie I've seen. Each subsequent film of his is a step below the last, and it's a long time ago that he's been in something worthwhile (i.e. Anchorman, 04.)

Lolita - 9/10. Kubrick goodness. Some bits are a little dull, but it's made up for by the fantastic acting and storytelling.

Waltz With Bashir - 6/10. Beautiful animation, and a very dark story, which unfortunately didn't interest me at all. Not many Middle-East based films do, it seems.

In Bruges - 9/10. The sharpest movie of the noughties. Colin Ferrell is great and quirky, and the script is filled with irony.

Hunger - 9/10. Kubrick-esque prison drama, set in 80's Northern Ireland. Intense, brutal and occasionally shocking. It's very slow though, so I wouldn't recommend it if pacing is an issue for you in movies.

Notorious - 9/10. Very tense Hitchcock thriller, though it sports a slow beginning. Bergman is brilliant, and cynical.

12 Angry Men - 10/10. The story is predictable, and a bit simple, but that doesn't detract from anything really.

Saw Robots for the first time today, it's amazing how fas animation moves these days! liked it very much though, it's a somewhat predictable story but that's not really why you watch these. Loved the jokes, not sure younger viewers would get everything but that's no biggie since they have enough to distract them :) Robin Williams was very good as Fender, didn't go over the top or dominate too much but added just enough random nonsense and humour to spice things up a bit.

Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs - AMAZING FILM!
It was so funny, well scripted and the characters were amazing!
These animation films just keep providing really high standards every time.

Watched Invictus last night. Brilliant. Simply brilliant.

However the over-obsession with Lomu hurt the final sequence IMO. Plus there was no reference at all to food poisoning.

I finally watched it a few days ago and even thou it's the a movie based on SAF Rugby I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it even them beating us in the final. I think Matt Damon might of had a hard time with the accent a few times but a good performance and a master performance from Morgan Freeman.

You may be joking Teh Mite, but I remember watching Jeff Wilson come off the field and throwing up on the sideline. So obviously that it was gushing out his mouth and the then threw a blanket around him as he was shaking. I don't know about any Suzy the waitress stuff, I just know for sure that many players were ill that day. South Africa won and it's history, but I really think in case of something like that ever happens again, they should have a contingency plan. I'd say that if it was another side sick playing NZ in a WC Final and we were well too.

Still, good to know that you liked the film, I'll take that as a solid recommendation and go see it.

I've recently watched Inglourious Basterds and yep, it's a good one. Christoph Waltz deserves an oscar nom at least. Watched Dantes Inferno animated last night. Wasn't too bad most of the time, just a few crappy minutes of average animation at times.

From what I've heard this year has produced several brilliant animated movies:
Cloudy...
Up
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Coraline.

Though I've only seen Up. Maybe Pixar will have some good competition at the Oscars this year.

I'd planned to see Coraline in theatres as I like Neil Gaiman's books and though Stardust was a pretty decent film-adaptation, but a lot of things got in the way and I ended up not seeing it at all. I'll need to add it to my must-see list. Never heard of the Fantastic Mr. Fox, saw Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs a while back, liked it a lot, the ice-cream scene looked so delicious! It's hard for me to dislike an animated film that is about food, but still, very well thought out, and indeed great characters. Maybe something stupid, but I really liked the way they designed those shoes.

Aye, watched it tonight. Great stuff.

It has the very clichéd slow-mo scene for the final kick but the movie mostly works well. It's simple and hits the spot.

:)

The last movie I saw that was a month ago, entitled Valkerie..If I spell it correctly. The main actor was Tom Cruise. I think it's a 2008 movie, about taking down Hitler, but they didn't succeeded on their plot, rather those officer who plan it, was convicted of death.

Shift expectations in 3D

No words to say

genuinely brilliant movie

Autumn Sonata - 10/10. The final 15 minutes are some of the saddest I've ever seen in a film.

Click - 5/10. It's a step above most films like it, in that, despite its comedy-aspect being total ****, the drama is actually pretty good. The meeting with the grandfather near the end is heartbreaking.
