He's meant to be, something about seeing the situation from the other side of the equation comes to mind.[/b]
Can you elaborate?

The Godfather Part II - Not sure whether I like it more than the first. Very dark, emotional and powerful. De Niro won the Oscar but I thought Pacino put in the more gripping performance. Different style of movie to the first, though what it lacked in charm it made up for with bitter reality. 10.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Sheer comic genius, along with all the other Python Films. Frankly if you don't frind Monty Python funny you have no sense of humour.

Cidade de Deus (City of God) - Starts off at the end then rewinds to the very beginning. Great storyline and well structured, telling the tales of individuals inhabiting the so-called 'City of God', in Rio, who all link to the central storyline in one way or another. Very gritty and violent and realistic, though at times it contains a feel-good factor, which evens everything out nicely, especially as the credits begin to roll. Loved the cinematography - especially with the beach shots which were sadly few in numbers. The Spanish cast do a good job, especially the antagonist, Li'l Zé.

10/10.

American History X. Excellent dialogue and a stellar performance by Edward Norton. Though its theme is pretty cliché, it is conveyed in a dark, horrifying way and the moral at the end, though important, is kinda bleak. Loved it. 10.

"A Time to Kill"

Matthew McConaughey's closing argument is still every bit as impactful as the first time I saw it.

I fart in your general direction, you.... silly stupid Eeenglish kinigits!![/b]

Apparently the trick with the coconuts instead of horses came about by accident. Originally they want to use horses but the budget didn't allow it. It was Graham Chapman's idea to use cocnuts, a stroke of sheer brilliance brilliance that turned a setback into that hilarious aspect of the film.

It's A Wonderful Life. And indeed it is. Began well. Slowly developed and became excellent during the latters stages:

***SPOILER***

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where George's uncle loses the bank's money. Stewart's acting while at home with Mary was pretty damn great.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 'if you were never born' scene got boring with it's annoying moral which seemed to drag on, but the ending made up for it. Very rarely do I cry from joy; even though I expected it. 8/10.

Hitchcock's Rear Window. - 9/10. Excellent movie.[/b]

One of the most influential, from a horror view point, movies of all time :bravo: For anyone wondering about Hitch's influence on the dark genre, Romero based Night of the Living Dead on The Birds, and lets not even get started with a whole sub genre directly attributable to Psycho.

Lost Things - Indie Australian horror flick, yes you can work out what's happened pretty quickly, that's the point, superb stuff well worth a watch if you can find a copy.

Watched 'Twilight' for the millionth time and damn that Alice chick is so sexy I wan't to instantly fox her. Good movie can't wait for the next one to come out especially with all the werewolves and stuff should be cool.

The Damned United

Good film about a great manager. I didn't know a huge amount on what Clough did as a manager but the film educated me about him. Sheen puts on a very good peformance. Highly recommended. 9/10

Ok...I agree with the bit in bold.

The Fountain

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful cinematography (especially in the modern and future sequences) and score and a tragic story. I like Jackman even more. His relationship with Rachel Weisz's character was touching. The ending was pretty abstract though, but it seems fitting, as the movie as a whole is quite vague. 10/10.

I just watched "El Secreto de sus Ojos" (The Secret of her Eyes). What a great movie. It starts off as a traditional movie, with the detective attempting to track down the murderer, and falling in love with his new assistant. The aforementioned murder prompts for thorough investigation, which in turn brings to light an unsolved murder that troubles all of the actors -- and that goes 20 years back in time. Great stuff.

The cast may be unkown to most of you, but Ricardo Darín is some sort of hero in the Spanish speaking world. Last but not least, the movie's director, Juan José Campanella, has had the pleasure of directing many episodes of "House M.D.", "30 Rock", "Law and Order", among others.

Rating? 10/10.

Oh, and Sir. Speedy: If you liked "City of God", you should try to find and watch Tropa de Élite. The film takes place in Río de Janeiro, and it certainly looks like the continuation of the one you watched.

Watched "No Country for Old Men" last night.

I wish I hadn't.

I kept watching hoping to see the point of the movie, but either it didn't have one, or I missed it.

It just appeared to be a vehicle for Javier Bardem's character to go around with a smug look on his face while gratuitously murdering the other characters in the film.

I see critics rate this film highly, but I can't see how.

Agreed... and what's worse is that I had to watch it dubbed in Spanish... DUH!

Perhaps they were high while watching it. ;)

I don't know about that, but David Lynch must surely have been high while making Mulholland Drive, which I've just got done watching.

Absolutely nuts. Very well composed, but weird as hell. Naomi Watts is fantastic, as is Laura Harring.

Again, the hell did I just watch?

Eerie as hell score makes it seem like a horror flick at times. Great watch if you have 2.5 hours to spare. 10/10.
