Spring Tour:New Zealand vs Ireland - 1st Test. (09/06/2012, 08:35 GMT)

Yea but your playing for you country and the whole country is going to scrutinize or praise your every move. The Leinster boys seem more comfortable in the club environment for instance

Because they are at liberty to play the game they are most comfortable with

Exactly. Perhaps due to better coaching? Better gameplans with players knowing their roles more clearly.

That's what you and lot of Irish fans think, personally i don't think a lot of these players are as good as their hype. Just my opinion don't call me a WUM because it's different from yours

New contract? Shitty coach?

and with the other discussion re Ireland, I think they could be more competitive if the right players are picked definitely, I mean I watched some of the Heineken Cup games. Those guys are good, for Europeans... ;)

Want to swap coaches then ?

You're right how could I have been blind for so long? Players like PO'C, Ferris, SO'B, Heaslip, Sexton, BO'D, Bowe and Kearney are all useless.

Is it Kidney's fault that the IRFU haven't appointed a back's coach? It just seems to me like hes a scapegoat

Kidney's choice I believe.

Just as it's been Kidney's choice to persist with O'Callaghan and D'Arcy way beyond their sell-by date. Or to not regularly play the half-back pairing that has won Ireland's most notable recent victories. Or to retard the development of a back-up to Mike Ross by a belief that Tony Buckley was an international quality prospect while nigh flogging John Hayes to death. Just as it has been his choice to criticise players who thrive playing ball in hand for not kicking all the time. Just as it has been his choice to basically ignore all young players not from Munster. And his choice to send out a raw unit of inexperienced backs with players in their less established positions to face the All Blacks away.

This list can go on a long time. The HEC is not international rugby, but questions have to be asked as to why Welsh players who have performed mediocrely in lesser competition come together and look more effective than Irish players who were outperforming them in that competition - and you do down HEC rugby too far far. Nathan Hines is on the record as saying the hardest game of rugby he's ever played was at HEC level. Ireland do not look the sum of their parts and this is painfully obvious.

I do not believe the Irish are world beaters. I do believe that Kidney is wasting some considerable talent and has been doing so since his first incredible year as a coach.

William, the amount of kicking that the Irish backs do is fairly directly attributable to Kidney. He has publicly complained about them not kicking enough. The players don't kick as much under their provincial coaches. And yes, Savea can't be fun to tackle, but it was Kidney who decided to leave out his biggest strongest winger when facing him.

No
McFadden - Useless
Trimble - average
Court - average
Murray/Reddan - average
Earls - lacking physicality

So you believe Kidney deserves no censure for playing a useless player ahead of an average player - to use your own ratings?

Who hypes these guys? Useless is very harsh on McFadden though especially when Kidney refuses to play him in his actual position and Trimble is better than average.

Well McFadden can't even get passed D'Arcy at club level so i think Kidney has a good reason not to pick him!

Calling these players useless is just pathetic. Yes at test level some of them might be talked up a bit but so what... but they most certainly are not useless... they were just made to look average by better players tonight.

I mean at centre... Downey/Earls/Cave even JJ Harahan (spelling?) should be ahead of McFadden for centre selection.
He has more potential than Trimble on the wing though imo

McFadden certainly isn't "useless"

I suggest you calm down and stop typing knee-jerk heat of the moment comments welshglory

It's Hanrahan.

So you think Kidney's bollocksed up his centre and wing selection, but think Ireland's current international malaise is nothing to do with him?

And yet you've called Andy Powell useless plenty of times before, McFadden certainly hasn't put in any of the kind of performances Powell did in when he burst on to the scene.

This is a ridiculous argument. Do Ireland play to the sum of their parts? No, obviously not. Would we have beaten the All Blacks today if we did? No.

I only really watched the first half and about 10 minutes of the second half, but I'd like to draw a contrast between New Zealand and Ireland today. Ireland got the ball into the New Zealand 22 on two or three occasions for decent amounts of time, coming away with no scores. The All Blacks in contrast, while looking a bit ring rusty, were far more clinical. We lacked cohesion and looked undercoached with the ball. Static, clueless, everything these players aren't for their clubs.

I feel a bit for Conor Murray at this stage. He clearly isn't good enough at this level. Too ponderous in delivery, not physical enough for the size of him and he has a poor kicking game. He shouldn't be getting picked.

It seems I have the ability to settle the vbookie does everyone have this?
