[Six Nations 2018] Round 2: England vs Wales (10/02/2018)

Not gonna lie; hate that when discussing MOTM it depends on who wins. The best player of the game deserves MOTM regardless of whether their team wins.

Right, I'm breaking my silence. Garces has been a bloody joke! Wales could do whatever they ******* like at the break down. Offside, off feet, you name it.

It's not like Wales was the only one to get away with it. Robshaw was often offside, Itoje dived over the ball constantly and not to mention staying on the line at the lineout.

I expected the score to be higher to be honest. 12-3 first half 0-3 second half. England did well to hold out because the second half was an onslaught.

wait... there are places where the hooker doesn't stand on the line for the throw-in?

Farces (actual autocorrect there, but it's too apt to change) was wearing red today. Literally nothing for England at the breakdown. Seemed to want to keep it close for the spectacle.

Was really trying to give Dicky boy a chance, but he's glacial.

Shouldn't be there.
Wiggles showing why he was always the wrong choice for the bench. Time to ditch that experiment, did he give one decent pass to his club FH?

I don't disagree but a key point would of been many of those 'turnovers' for Wales were in lockable range for England. Most of England's would of been territory kicks.

I can see Hughes or Binny being rushed back as soon as either is half fit, and Simmonds to flank if fit. No8 is such a key position and Robshaw shouldn't be covering it.

Thought Launch was our best forward.

Marler will be back to strengthen the bench.

In those conditions there was a good case for Teo starting.

First 20 was pretty good. Last 60 was pants.

Good if scrappy game. Some quality performances from welsh players Navidi, AWJ, Tipuric off the bench. But England are a better side and that is the end of that conversation.

All the welsh fans, crack open a nice bottle of Shiraz, I've heard it goes well with humble pie...

England did what they needed to do in an uninspiring performance really. Mike Brown did well enough, but really the kicks were too long and he had the field to return in. Farrell was my MOTM.

Garces let a lot go on the ruck for each side, so talk about the things England did well to win rather than that. Fast defence, Farrell dictating the game and took the opportunities when they were there. I guess England will be worried that they didn't continue to be ruthless and really look lethargic in the last quarter.

Wales will question the disallowed try. But I think general game management first half is what lost the game.

Hughes is already half fit, and next weekend is a rest weekend...
The question is who comes in for Wigglesworth. Vellacott or Robson are the obvious choices, but Cook, Simpson and whoever's fit-but-not-playing or Maunder/Townsend would be a step up.

Farrell was definitely the man of the match agree.
For me garces had a negative effect on the game because he killed some of the key contests such as the breakdown.
Wales looked good in the second half but were really poor in the first.

And Wigglesworth showing why he was such a **** poor sub. England subs are supposed to up the tempo, he actively slowed it down all the time.
