Sidhe's Rugby Challenge

Ah not looking promising then :(

From what I've read, most of the problems (excessive offloads, bugs etc) are patchable. The rest I think is partly down to people just not used to the more realistic passing, at least if what some YouTubers have been able to do is anything to go by.

Maybe waiting has been a blessing in disguise, hopefully some of these things will be patched.

Right had a good read through SIDHE FORUM and found some of the team ratings. For those that care the ospreys 22 is as follows (courtesy of CA Iversen - presume its same person here due to very unique name, so I thank you if so :D :D) -

1. James 63
2. Bennett 60
3. A. Jones 65
4. Gough 65
5. A. Jones 78
6. Collins 79 (He's there)
7. Holah 77
8. R. Jones 78
9. Phillips 89
10. Biggar 72
11. Williams 83
12. Hook 87
13. Bishop 73
14. Bowe 88
15. Byrne 86
---------------
16. Hibbard 59
17. Mitchell 58
18. Evans 61
19. Thomas 71
20. Nutbrown 61
21. Prydie 76
22. Owen 59

Now to me that does seem quite fair??? (other than front rowers being overlooked and Phillips being over rated :p). Also my initial "fears" of Shane being lowly rated have been put to rest. Those that feel that 83 is low need to get their heads checked. One can only presume that his position specific stats are very high :D :D

Now lets just see THE ORANGE ONE!

The Frontrowers are irrelevant in RC. Whereas with 08 - too early to tell with RWC 2011 certain Props made a difference incomparison to other props when locking down scrums.

The Lineouts aren't affected by it. And as far as I can tell neither are the scrums. Unless you have great hand+eye with the thumbsticks, then how your props perform in the key areas of RC aren't relevant.

That said John Afoa makes a decent centre and Keven Mealamu is not a bad 1st Five.

Thank god you can change the player ratingsb because some of that is ridiculous. Leinster 72? Favourite was Treviso 64, Ulster 60!!!!!

Last year:

Treviso 9 - 19 Ulster
Ulster 32 - 13 Treviso

Not to mention respective league positions.
I'm sure it would not have been a budget breaker to hire a a few guys to take care of the European ratings accurately rather than that shite.

I'd have done it for free. I mightn't have done a wonderful job (actually, I would, but thats besides the point), but I could have at least supplied the tables and results that pointed out Ulster was the third best team in the Magners last season, not the second worst, and that Sarries actually won the AP.

We are talking incredibly simple stuff. Think I'll put this game off of the purchase list after all without some very good reviews.

Sketchy....
Dread to think what Sale's are like

Then again, 99% of the team won't be in the game so I can just change them when spending a week or so doing all of the transfers

I can understand Henson at Sarries, but Payne a 3?

I know they're based in the SH, but do they not have anyone on their staff who has ever watched NH rugby?!

If you think that's bad you should see their USA team. Every starting player is a forward in real life!

what i loved when i played the game was that munster were 1 better then leinster which left me smiling but others not so happy seeing as we were in dublin

IIRC Mario or Milla said all NH stas was done by a guy (or a few people) in France.

Also Castrogiovanni rated higher than Adam Jones :| Glad we can edit stats for offline tbh

Aye, being able to edit them is good, and online the stats don't count so in the grand scheme of things they don't really matter - still a shame though
Makes me wonder what the likenesses are like for the players then - i.e the non-international/non-famous NH players
I presume they'll just be generic players

looks like there's a **** load of editing to be done... thank **** i'm still a student and we won't have to rely on woosaah this time...

Well there was an early screenshot with the Scarlets vs Leinster - couldn't recognise a single Scarlet from the 4 or 5 in the screenshot. Some of the stats are just ridiculous for the NH too, does seem to be a huge bias towards the New Zealanders and Australians.

Ah was more on about it's not looking promising that the Heineken is in/being able to make one and somehow import it into Franchise (seriously doubt it though). People on the Sidhe forum pretty much ignored my question about it. Would love to know if there are Autumn Internationals and Summer Tours in non-WC years too.

Know what you mean about the passing anyway, seems that the hot-potato tactic does not work at all! One thing I'm def gonna do is tone down the offloading for all sides, was something that I thought was daft and unrealistic about RL3, but not overly surprised its ended up on RC though.

If you're getting on PS3 you can download others rosters so you wont have to do it all, or any tbh just wait for someone to do something and upload it, I'll only be doing a few as im off to uni etc. but still some guys on the sidhe forums have started doing all SA super rugby teams and the international so the same could happen for the NH stats.. hopefully you can merge two databases and split all the work of editing all the players.

Here is one, they are doing updates to international teams inc. likeness and stats etc - http://projectnovo.freeforums.org/ or http://forums.sidhe.co.nz/showthread.php?44128-Project-Novo-PS3/page2

Think my worst fears about rugby challenge have been confirmed. Great graphics, comps, options and really average gameplay. Passing leaves alot to be desired (reminds me of RLL *cringe* but not quite that bad), the games a bit glitchy and the AI doesn't play that realistically i.e. chucks the ball around a whole heap randomly (I'm playing on pro). Offloads are way excessive SA got almost 50 in one 7m half against me (on pro) crazy. Only a few games in and still getting whipped haha, slowly getting used to it. Don't like the ruck atm, probably get used to it but first thoughts are not that great but again I have it on pro (should probably just accept I need to start out on a lower level!). Bit of a bummer that rugby 08 probably has superior passing, RC's could be much smoother thats for sure.
