Sidhe's Rugby Challenge

Started customising squads and it's gonna take up some considerable time, a really really lengthy process. Good to see the player likedness is there with the non-licenced teams (well SA has). Just started doing SA and most the squad looks like the players with pretty much spot on physical dimensions you just have to change all the names. Really weird though the way they have done it as you have to go to edit team to look at the player position and photo suss out who it is and remember what their fake name is then backtrack to edit player, find the bogus player name you want and then change it. In the player editor there are no pics of the players just a bunch of random names with positions, makes it hard to suss out who's ment to be who which is why you have to look in team editor first. Confusing. Customisations options really are something in this game, massively in depth. Probably overboard for the average gamer but if your into tweaking everything you'll love it.

To me they are slow and disjointed. They seem to alternate betweem normal paced lineouts and 'slow mo' lineouts. The animations look bad and it isn't smooth at all. There is a second where the player who catches the ball lands and then just stands there. Then you pass it and your player throws a dodgy short ball to another foward (not a back), throw another pass and it hits the deck. Other times you get a steal and the ball goes off into space then appears magically in your hands (glitch).I'm not trying to hardcore bad mouth this game (just saying it how I see it) or put people off (I know others will have different opinions). Just can't stand some who are still talking this game up. It's good in a sense as it has alot of club comps, customisation and online etc (and great graphics) it's just that I can really see they havn't had too much consideration for gameplay. I'm looking forward to playing RWC for a direct comparison but if it's like 08 with a few upgrades I think it will trump RC.

Pretty much agreed with everything. The lineout's aren't gameplay friendly, the option to have pods are interesting and a great addition, the throwing options are okay but ultimately unlike RWC they don't provide a good platform to attack off.

The gameplay in general doesn't seem to allow for strategic plays like you would with RWC, but the options and the graphics make RWC 2011 look like a PS2 game.

The passing and gameplay in general for RC are better than what Rugby League was but to be honest, that's not saying much.

It's definitely fun. Slow Mo is pretty good, but as said earlier - you definitely need alot of space before you can get one off.

The Action Camera is amazing when you have a break away with a back and your in a one on one with the fullback, but I'm keeping both if not for the novelty of having 2 rugby games but the online facilities.

Fingers Crossed it both RC & RWC will fix that up at least.

I think the initials and positions are enough, most of the time, going by the England Wales video I've just watched.

Ah was more on about it's not looking promising that the Heineken is in/being able to make one and somehow import it into Franchise (seriously doubt it though). People on the Sidhe forum pretty much ignored my question about it. Would love to know if there are Autumn Internationals and Summer Tours in non-WC years too.

Know what you mean about the passing anyway, seems that the hot-potato tactic does not work at all! One thing I'm def gonna do is tone down the offloading for all sides, was something that I thought was daft and unrealistic about RL3, but not overly surprised its ended up on RC though.

Serves me right for not reading the thread properly.

I hope there's some kind of substitute for the Heineken. To be honest, in my view competition licenses are the least important since you can just make a generic competition with the licensed teams they have. Have you heard anything more on this?

Yeah worst comes to worst I'm happy to make one, but still will be gutted if there's even no generic European tournament in Franchise to break up playing in he Pro12/Aviva/Top14. Was one thing that annoyed me about playing in the Super League on RL3, there was no Challenge Cup on it, despite the fact that they had all the teams you could need to make one (even the ones in the lower leagues). Didn't mind so much playing in the NRL since you had things like State of Origin and the Trans-Tasman test in it. Just really do hope that even if they've left out the Heineken in any shape or form, I really hope they have at least put in the international fixtures of November and June.

And nope I haven't heard anything <_< a thread I posted on Sidhe pretty much got completely ignored. I guess checking if there's a European club competition on the game isn't high on the list of to do things for your average NZ Rugby gamer.

Get in contact with TRF C A Iversen ... he will help you out ;)

So for once the developers here aren't lazy, I admire your honesty.

This has nothing to do with laziness. It has everything to do with basic expectations for my money's worth. Getting very simple basic things right is one of them.

Actually, the developers not looking up the results of the northern competitions might be called pretty damn lazy.

RUGBY 15

BLOEMFONTEIN (CHEETAHS) - 68
BLUES - 79
BRUMBIES - 77
CAPE TOWN (STORMERS) - 75
CHIEFS - 76
CRUSADERS - 82
DURBAN (SHARKS) - 74
HIGHLANDERS - 77
HURRICANES - 77
JOHANNESBURG (LIONS) - 66
PRETORIA (BULLS) - 80
REBELS - 70
REDS - 79
WARATAHS - 75
WESTERN FORCE - 74

These ratings are so wrong, STORMERS played Bulls in the Final last year and made it to the semi finals this year but teams like Blues, Brumbies, Hurricanes, Highlanders, Chiefs are all rated above them. Understand that Crusaders should be high but they did no win this years S15. Reds deserve top spot and ranking if current. When last have Crusaders won the Super rugby ***le. Bulls have won 3 of the last 4 ***les but are ranked 80 behind Crusaders if last few years are to go by.

Obviously a NZ'der who did the rankings. FFS, Hurricanes, Chiefs were at the bottom of the S15 table this year?????

Hope a bloody patch gets sent out to update these rankings for online play!

We didn't make up the stats, so it's not really a matter of us failing to look up results. We got data from various appropriate sources for the sides and competitions and employed a European firm to do stats analysis.

Yeah this is true. Still tricky though as I don't know every players names even with the initials as a hint from all the unlicenced teams. Doesn't help either that when you go to select a player in editor it has only the name you can see and not the position or anything else. That shows up once you've selected the player and gone into the next screen. I think they could have made it a tad easier. In saying that atleast you can edit everything I guess. Been using wikipedia alot lol, might just wait until this game is released worldwide and wait for others on this forum to decipher all the names for the unlicenced teams. Take me too many months to do it alone.

Anyone else getting really annoyed at the auto pick up from the halfback? you can't trap it at the back of the ruck to let your backline set grrrrr. Halfback just picks the ball up after what seems like a few seconds.

Correct me if I've got this wrong - you have published the stats, but the actual decisions on them were taken by another company (in France, according to earlier in the thread), and they based their decision entirely on statistical analysis? Did you check them yourselves/with another body before publishing?

Can I suggest that a) You think long and hard about using this company again, as they appear to have let you down quite badly b) In future, taking a leaf out of Sports Interactive's book, and use your forums to get the fan's opinion/insight? We may not be experts, or have all the data. We may contain a number of the totally biased, totally stupid, and totally trolling. But as a consensus, I'd say we're not far off, and we certainly know that Saracens aren't a mid-table side.

What's more, we'd do it for free, for the joy of it.

But they're editable, I don't see what the deal is. Be pretty hard to nail every team exactly, stat wise. It's pretty subjective sort of stuff anyway.

I'm still waiting for some kind of review on here of RC. Everyone was banging on about how amazing it'd be, yet haven't heard a peep. So, is it true about the 'info' i've seen that it's barely playable, or is that just a complete load of nonsense?

I don't think I've read or seen anything that suggests it's at the barely playable level. it has bugs for sure but then so does rwc2011. the biggest complaint seems to be the huge amount of offloading that happens in the game. it can be fixed for offline play by adjusting the offloading stats for every team in the game but that is a lengthy process and a patch that reduces it would be the smarter option. From what I have read off various forums including here it seems like if sidhe patched up the bugs and reduced the offloading rc would be a game many would play for a very long time.

Put it this way. Most reviews only tell you half the story. They've done an awesome job (near perfection) on pretty much everything other than the gameplay, which is way too basic for my liking. I almost find it unplayable but am giving it until the end of the week before I decide if I get my money back. Guts me a bit as I've preordered almost every rugby game in the past (not RWC) and really enjoyed them all and would have never thought of returning any of them. This game just isn't growing on me which is a weird feeling. I guess I'm a gameplay junkie and couldn't care less about the amount of comps, options, editable material etc. IMO sidhe have gone overboard in the wrong areas and failed to put enough emphasis into the MOST important aspect of rugby union video games. THE GAMEPLAY.
