Better news than the jaw - now it depends on the nuance of the fracture, but I expect to see him on the pitch again for the QF.Confirmed maxillo-zygomatic fracture (clueless what that means - over to you @Quel Carreleur).
Will remain with the squad but unclear how long he'll be out for.
Yes, you can play sooner (than 3 weeks), but would be against (UK) medical advice. We've seen players play through with these fractures, not just finishing the match, but turning out again the following week. Some said that if it is only a simple fracture, Dupont could replay after 10 days so fingers crossed.

JFC don't do that, I thought Brad had been called up for a second.Better news than the jaw - now it depends on the nuance of the fracture, but I expect to see him on the pitch again for the QF.

But rugby insurance is stricter in France (see a couple of players who've been unable to get insurance to play, in France, but have in the UK) - which is well beyond myu capacity to comment on.
Medical advice would be 21 days; France have 24 days before the QF, and don't need him before then, so I wouldn't risk it. I'd argue that you don't need him against Eng/Arg/Wal/Aus/Fij either, so give him a better chance for the final - but that's very much personal opinion (3 weeks okay, 5 weeks much better)

Saracens' Brad Barritt hopes to face Leinster despite fractured cheek
Brad Barritt has been labelled The Terminator after undergoing surgery on a fractured cheekbone only five days before Saracens Champions Cup quarter-final against Leinster.www.skysports.com

My sister's dentist broke her jaw in April, she's still healing now.
The decision should be taken out of Dupont's hands and be made on the basis of the best medical advice. You tend to heal quickly when you have a very important match in three weeks. Athletes are willing to tolerate a lot of risk in times like these.
I read it the latter way, the former would make much more sense. She broke her own jaw or your sister's? One's unfortunate, the other's a claim on her PI insurance…..
George North suffered quadruple face fracture and centre pleads for security

I am sure George North can tell him how long he will out for. IIRC Lydiate also had to have surgery on a smashed cheekbone and had to have a plate inserted.
Edit: needs to see a surgeon to determine severity. 4-6 weeks out is only an indicator. He's only 26. At least a couple of RWCs he could still play in.
