RWC: New Zealand - Tonga (09-09-2011, 20:30)

Totally agree with you hitman51, SBW was a FREAK not only in the offloads but his strength in the tackle and quick ruck in the tackle. He is a SUPERHERO! I have not seen anything like this guy since Lomu's big bash entry into the RWC 1995.

He is unselfish and is the equivelant of Christiano Ronaldo of SOCCER, only difference is he does not seek the limelight by scoring but sets everyone around him up to score! He made the outside back look amazing... how freakin good were those offloads, the behind the back flip and the dummy pass come chip off the outside of his foot. This guy has SKILLS!

9. Cowan
10. Cater
11. SBW
12. Nonu
13. Smit
14. Jane
15. Mills

this is my team!!! Kahui, dagg, slade and weepu on bench....

Bail what the hell are you on about? If it wasn't for the 6 tries we scored we would have lost? The game was never close mate sort your life out.

I think what Bail meant was that possession, territory etc was pretty much the same. Tonga held their own. In fact I think Tonga marginally had more possession and territory in the game. NZ did however have more offloads which created tries.

Don't think, it's a fact. http://www.rugbyworldcup.com/rugbytracker/match=10920/statistics.html

The stats say all that it must say. NZ win that game only because their big offloads numbers and missed tackles from Tonga.
Tonga could have win it if they were playing a yearly tournament with NZ.

I personally think too much hype is placed on Carter and McCaw. As a player I rate Kaino more valuable to the AB's than McCaw. His defence and attack today was huge! He was what was missing in Brisbane two weeks ago. Kahui was good and SBW played one of his better games. The more games he play the better he'll get. Dagg had some god touches but still looks to take the wrong options still. Cowan holds on to the ball too long.

Possession and offloads are not necessarily related or unrelated, it depends on what happens with the possession, territory and off-loads. Also, yeah Tonga could win against New Zealand if they'd been playing every year for a long, long time. So, could Germany or even Switzerland if they were into it enough and spent every year playing against France.

Did you see how many times Richie was lying all over the ball? Flipping the ball back from offside positions ? And not getting pinged! That is why he is so valuable! For some reason refferees just dont pick up blatant offences that everyone else can see! Slade played very well when he came on. All black scrum looks creaky, Sheridan Thompson and Cole would be licking their lips watching that!

Good game for Tonga...Thought they should of got more than penalty for breaking NZ's scrum 3 times 5m out..I was thinking about the English team when Tonga barged over for the try.BRING ON THE ROLLING MAUL :D

This is probably the only mistake of Clancy in this game. There is new orders from O'Brien to give a penalty try after the second penalty.

I agree it should have been a penalty try. But the all blacks dont get as harshly punished as much as other teams. Fact. And before anyone says Im moaning, Im not, I understand why, they are perceived as the best team and so the refs naturally will side with them more easily if they have a superiority.

Not enough credit is going to Tongas scrum everyones criticising NZs scrum and talking about how other teams would be champing at the bit to test them when in fact no one seems to acknowledge that neither the springboks or the Wallabies were able to test NZ. When the Franks brothers were on together in Brisbane the All Blacks started to dominate the scrums.

The Franks brothers havnt really been tested all year. More credit should be given to Taumalolo and Pulu. Remember Taumalolo destroying John Schwalger affectively ending any chance of an ALL BLACK eoyt after an All Black call up earlier. Taumalolo dominated Census Johnston during the PNC this yr as well.

I don't think it should have been a penalty try. The NZ scrum broke the bind without going backwards, so I don't see it as an imminent try situation.

Btw, this game won me 10000 vCash. I'm a vRich person now.

Well why do you think they broke the bind? Do you not think it was because they thought they were going to get pushed over...?

I agree it was a penalty 3 times in a row given by the ref. That's normally not enough for a penalty try, but Tonga could have gotten one if they would've kept it in the scrum for another couple of times.

Tonga got a converted try from that attack anyway, so doesn't really matter than a penalty try wasn't given

Im actually more interested in how that area is being reffed to be honest, rather than whether Tonga scored or not,as I dont think the All Blacks are as strong as they make out in the front row, and hope that can be exploited by one of the better scrummaging teams.

It will be interesting to see if the Tongan can maintain that level of emotion. First game, premier match, big build up and hype leading to it definately energized them. Much of the good that was seen in the 2nd half from Tongo was the result of the energy Taumalolo brought, his coming on made a huge difference. If you could give MOM award to a losing player as well as a winning player I would definately have given it to him.
