Pool Predicitons:
Pool A: New Zealand, France
Easy pool to predict who'll go through, the ordering of the next three teams though is hard to predict
Pool B: England, Scotland
England should go through comfortably, I think the Argentina against Scotland match will come down to the referee's interpretation of the scrum, I also think Georgia will get a losing bonus point against Scotland
Pool C: Australia, Ireland
I think Italy will be really close to Ireland but I still back Ireland, I think this group could well play out like the 2003 World Cup pool with Australia and Ireland in it, just Italy instead of Argentina
Pool D: South Africa, Samoa
South Africa should win the group easily, there will be a scrap for second but Wales have consistently botched up against the Islanders, and after their most recent match against the Barbarians they aren't exactly changing my mind about their chances
QF Predictions:
QF1 - Australia v Samoa
Lightning will not strike twice, Australia will get battered by Samoa but their superior try finishing abilities will see them come out on top
QF2 - England v France
This match will be the most boring of the quarter finals, I can see a repeat of the 2007 World Cup semi final in this match, France haven't had a good record against England over the last five years, I expect this to be no different with England edging it
QF3 - South Africa v Ireland
I expect South Africa to win here easily
QF4 - New Zealand v Scotland
The most one sided quarter final, I would expect New Zealand to score 30+ points here
SF Predicitions:
SF1 - Australia v New Zealand
New Zealand will ... choke
SF2 - England v South Africa
South Africa know how to win these matches, fully fit by then with the likes of Juan Smith, Fourie du Preez and Heinrich Brüssow back they also have the best goal kicker in the world who is exactly who I'd want to play in a tight match decided by penalties.
Final:
Australia v South Africa
The front five will be the difference here, South Africa will have dominance at set piece and dominate possession
Winners: South Africa (first ever team to retain trophy)
