I'm still trying to decide which is more likely: Samoa making the final or South Africa playing itself in the semi-finals ;)

My prediction.....

Pool A: 1. New Zealand 2. France
Pool B: 1. England 2. Argentina
Pool C: 1. Australia 2. Ireland
Pool D: 1. South Africa 2. Samoa

QF Predictions:

QF1 - Australia vs Samoa
QF2 - England vs France
QF3 - South Africa vs Ireland
QF4 - New Zealand vs Argentina

SF Predicitions:
SF1 - Australia vs France
SF2 - South Africa vs New Zealand

3rd Place ply-off:
France vs South Africa

Final:
New Zealand vs Australia

Pool Predicitons:

Pool A: New Zealand, France

Easy pool to predict who'll go through, the ordering of the next three teams though is hard to predict

Pool B: England, Scotland

England should go through comfortably, I think the Argentina against Scotland match will come down to the referee's interpretation of the scrum, I also think Georgia will get a losing bonus point against Scotland

Pool C: Australia, Ireland

I think Italy will be really close to Ireland but I still back Ireland, I think this group could well play out like the 2003 World Cup pool with Australia and Ireland in it, just Italy instead of Argentina

Pool D: South Africa, Samoa

South Africa should win the group easily, there will be a scrap for second but Wales have consistently botched up against the Islanders, and after their most recent match against the Barbarians they aren't exactly changing my mind about their chances

QF Predictions:

QF1 - Australia v Samoa

Lightning will not strike twice, Australia will get battered by Samoa but their superior try finishing abilities will see them come out on top

QF2 - England v France

This match will be the most boring of the quarter finals, I can see a repeat of the 2007 World Cup semi final in this match, France haven't had a good record against England over the last five years, I expect this to be no different with England edging it

QF3 - South Africa v Ireland

I expect South Africa to win here easily

QF4 - New Zealand v Scotland

The most one sided quarter final, I would expect New Zealand to score 30+ points here

SF Predicitions:
SF1 - Australia v New Zealand
New Zealand will ... choke

SF2 - England v South Africa

South Africa know how to win these matches, fully fit by then with the likes of Juan Smith, Fourie du Preez and Heinrich Brüssow back they also have the best goal kicker in the world who is exactly who I'd want to play in a tight match decided by penalties.

Final:
Australia v South Africa

The front five will be the difference here, South Africa will have dominance at set piece and dominate possession

Winners: South Africa (first ever team to retain trophy)

How would france be ontop of pool A if they are going to send out a B team against nz

How would france be ontop of pool A if they are going to send out a B team against nz
They aren't, if you read Lievremonts comments they were twisted by the media to say that,
He just said that if they had secured promotion from the group, they might consider resting some influential players to avoid injuries etc. before the playoffs
I don't think that he would though

Pool A - New Zealand, France
Pool B - England, Scotland
Pool C - Australia, Ireland
Pool D - South Africa, Samoa

QF1 - Australia vs Samoa
QF2 - England vs France

3rd - France vs Ireland

Final - New Zealand vs Australia

Pool A- New Zeeland, France
Pool B- England, Argentinia
Pool C- Australia, Ireland
Pool D- South Africa, Samoa

QF1 - Australia vs Samoa (Hard game but Australia should cruise this)
QF2 - England vs France (recent games and history)
QF3 - South Africa vs Ireland (South Africa have what it takes to play close tight games, which WC games are)
QF4 - New Zeeland vs Scotland (30+points?)

SF1 - Australia vs England (Tight one, im going with England. They have what it takes.)
SF2 - New Zeeland vs South Africa (If they don't choke :p.)

3rd - Australia vs South Africa

Final - New Zeeland vs England (They'll win when in the final, tight game.)

Meh, the tournament is far too predictable.

The one group of real interst is Pool D. Fiji, Samoa, Namibia, South Africa and Wales.

I can see South Africa winning all their games comfortably enough, but I cant see any of the other teams winning three games.

I think it could come down to points difference which could actually work out for Wales.

Call me crazy but I think the NH is gonna have a much better year than people think. Especially England - they've got a good draw and and I think if they don't meet NZ til the semis it's gonna be the closest game of the tournament - could well go the way of NZ but you can't call it either way

The main problem withWales is the group they are in. Its the group of death.

I dont think everyone is writing them off (through its fun to do it), but the reality is, in a competition where shocks will be at a minimum, people are looking to that group and seeing a potential upset.
