Rugby 2005

yea i know y
<
but i dont know about u but im very highly anticipating this game

... if the last version, R2004 looked as good as this one with the improved player models and apparent (or so it seems) better player movement (and I can only presume a greatly improved menu interface if it takes from the recent FIFA game)... would it have helped at all?

I would rate gameplay far higher as a priority then appearance or gfx, but if the visuals will look as well as these - could they gloss over some ("SOME" - not all) of the gameplay problems that were so horribly apparent in Rugby 2004 ???

I'm pretty sure in the press release they said something about new commentators.

I was also reading something on info.ea.com that said
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
the game, which features a host of gameplay and graphical upgrades[/b]
I'm just happy gameplay got a mention, and not going on about licenses or how pretty it looks.

well they've bound to have done somethin to the gameplay (hopefully introduced some!)

imagine all they had done was the visual improvements, which has already been designed for a previous sports game ... now that would be a kop-out

... just browsing the web looking for extra info or pics and came across some old pics of 2004 (which I did buy!) ... j'eez it looked shocking bad, and there was me almost having it completely wiped from memory... back to the hypnotist I go !

Yeah I know that, but in the last game they barely mentioned the gameplay.

I have put in bold the features which directly relate to the actual gameplay (the most important thing in a rugby game)

Player form and injuries
All new highly detailed motion capture for bone-crunching tackles, scrums, lineouts, kicking and passing
All new AI engine

* Stadiums:
75 Stadiums in all from around the world, including all the World Cup Stadiums. Essentially there is a home stadium for each team included in the game, some teams use the same stadium

Play by play commentary from the BBC's John Inverdale and Channel 7?s Gordon Bray

They had problems with that with Rugby 2004, they probably weren't sure whether they'd get it or not and never bothered to update.

not holding out much hope for the Celtic League or Zurich Prem at this stage, unless they are still waiting to announce a deal with these organisations for participation

... since they have the license to the Heineken Cup, does that really give them the rights to the teams in it ?(are they not owned by their own organisations or leagues? as opposed to the cup competition they may or may not be playing in, depending on their domestic perfomances)

... don't mean to go overboard about the license's/teams/competitions issue, but as -JJ- just pointed out with a previous post, there is very little info released based on gameplay or anything else

95 teams thats alot...could hav pacific islanders in da mix???
how many european cup teams?
and the npc has only 12 teams(1st Div. anyway)could be a chance to hav the npc in....

that fact it has rugby101 sounds cool as if it is accepted among their gaming giant ranks...eg,Tiger Woods,Madden....but still no sign of a campaign or season mode...uno from super12(or even npc)to international season(6nations,tri-nations)
to the world cup....or even having the season take place last year and playing 4seasons till the next world cup

..im a genius...i know

Electronic Arts tackling Rugby 2005

Second scrum sim from EA Sports game takes the field this spring for the PS2, Xbox, and PC.
Time to tape those ears down and join the scrum, as Electronic Arts today announced that it is once again tackling the sport of rugby. Rugby 2005, the follow-up to Rugby 2004, is currently in development at HB Studios is being produced by EA Canada. It will be released for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC this spring.

All major international rugby teams and players will be featured in the Rugby 2005. Also included are several real-world tournaments, including the Super 12 and the Tri-Nations. This year's version also features graphic upgrades, including new motion-captured animation, authentically detailed stadiums, and enhanced lighting effects. Players will be able to control players with on-the-fly play calling, an improved kicking system, and fakes and tackles using the right analog stick.

GameSpot will have more details on Rugby 2005 as they surface.

lol, thats rugby 2004's features...

PI's are hopefully in

NPC is very doubtful, 24 euro teams at least - on-the-fly is like calling moves during play, not just at scrums and lineouts - what moves this entails i'm not quite sure, but maybe like switch, wrap around, drop kick etc

Guys, the features I chucked up were for Rugby 2004. 04. 04. Not Rugby 2005. I was just showing how little they talked about the gameplay for 2004. 04.

calling plays in during live gameplay...like nba live...using d-pad and callings while players aruond u execute the play
