Rugby 2005

Who here thinks rucks will be manual this time around?
Seriously, how do you win rucks in Rugby 2004? I've never won one on purpose to this day. At least with WCR, sure there was button bashing, but damnit, you stepped it up and crashed near your forwards when you needed to win it.

Yeah true - you can add players to rucks in rugby 2004... About 10 seconds after the ruck forms! lol

Its all to do with rucking stats - and the good teams will steal your ball almost every ruck on hard, pathetic

how can u have manual rucks tho? other than button bashing is there any other way? i reckon u should only lose the ball if say a player gets turned in a tackle or theres say 3 players from the defending team in a ruck compared to 1 from the attackers

How can you not have manual rucks? It's such an important aspect of the game that you should be in control of it. Either get tackled near your team, or risk it out in the open -- but even then, it should be a contest if you've got an equal number of players verse your opponent.

Heck, Rugby 2001 almost had something going. Number of players, and then timing your push. At least that was something of a contest.

You gotta have something. Even if it's manually taking control of other players and shoving them in the ruck. "Get in there!" or, "Crap, we lost it, get out!"

I really cant believe how many people are just discussing what teams will be included. Has everyone forgotton about the shocking gameplay of Rugby 2004 ?

Belive me I would rather have the mother of all playability rugby games with only 2 teams than all the teams in the world and it plays like R2004.

At this stage I think the main hurdle we need to get over is " How does it play ". I am eagerly waiting for a magazine or some such to get hold of a copy and give us the low down.

I am trying so desperately hard not to get excited about this game as I have this gut feeling we are going to be let down AGAIN. I think everyone seems to be thinking " Naaaaaaaah they wouldnt cluck it up AGAIN " .... would they ?
not too mention nobody knows if these are gameplay pics or and fancy animation, to make us get excited

sure it looks good

but that dont mean **** all, especially, if these animations are snippets from an intro,

what if they have taken the same approach as pes.

where the intro is like its on some 10th generation console, giving us an insight as to what pes25 will be like in 2025.

although i must say i have seen 2 types of pics, where the graphics are considerably different............this either means some pics are on different platforms or some pics are jazzed up, but either way i would take both, coz they are great either way.

As long as i dont get a surprise in my first match, where i am watching some shoddy piece of work, where i gotto take 30 secs break every 10 mins due to the "am i wearing grandmas glasses" question u ask urself coz u cant focus on the pic the the visuals are that trajic.

but if there aint no manual rucks u might aswell buy rugby league

Yes they've made the screens look fancy - but its not the same as that PES movie to start - you can tell thats def. not game footage - rugby 2005 looks real as the stadiums look the same as 04 and the players/crowds look like fifa 2005. Look at a fifa 2005 screen, then look at the gameplay - hardly different

Rugby 2005 will be lucky to have an intro movie - Fifa 2005 didn't, and if the intro is anything like rugby 2004 then please leave it out. If its like Rugby 2001, welcome.

those obviously aint intro movie screenshots man
whats so obvious they aint from an intro
- does it say it in text - NO
- have they told u - NO
- have u played it - NO
and the obvious answer to my question is...........what???
nothing is obvious here...everything is grey, and ur looking thru a stained glass.
what is obvious is the level of assuming going on in TRF

i wont be assuming anything until someone plays it

the amount of lies, and bullshit that has come out of HB is next to none

with cricket 2004, and rugby 2004

i feel sorry for the websites, that are fed all this info from HB, in which they relay to public as "assumed fact", all the fans read, and drule, and then the games comes out and its WTF..........where's this, where's that

seriously guys - anyone got a copy of this time 2 years ago, of the posts in TRF rugby 2004 thread.

Its like u have all copied and pasted ur own posts again only deleting the '4' and adding a '5'.

its the same excitement if not more, than 2004, definatley more than WCR (which was made by the benchmark JLR)

Sure FIFA2004 is the difference here.
But the one thing in common being HB studios, nullifies any FIFA2004 positive

ur all comparing it to FIFA2004, and putting 4 extra blokes and an oval ball as a substitute.

Seeing the brains behind it all is the same, only the tools are different - I dont care what anyone says "Handymen dont blame the tools"

HB have tried to emphasis this new game engine will be the difference this time around
That to me means they blamed to tools for 2004.

I hope and will be glad to eat these words, but until these guys make an impressive game on any platform their resume STINKS

I only know of 2 games they have made - Cricket and Rugby

Can anyone advise of a big hit they made to make their track record a little prettier..............or are we all hoping for these washed-up, no-hopers to produce a miracle, and defy history, and themselves to produce a quality rugby game.

Can someone with gaming experience - Mario and Trevor, advise if what they have seen or heard within the chinese walls of gaming, if this HB project will be a hit, and stiff competition.

Seeing what comes from Andrew 'A-hole' Wilson, is bullshit, and every gaming site has the same quote as Rugby 2004 - "We want to bring the true rugby experience into the gaming world.....blah, blah, plop, plop"

Half Baked studios are prolly smokin some raw A'grade canadian leaf (not maple).

Besides, GT4 will keep me occupied until this comes out

why cant any of the canadians in this forum, get in touch with these fools to come on here - surely atleast one Canuck, lives within the vecinity of the sceptic tank at HB, in which they can just rock up.

Atleast the FIFA2004 thingy keeps me interested..........if thats anything good to go by, considering pes1 shits on FIFA2005.

I guess the Lord Locks will be the key.
when he plays it we'll all know, exactly what we are doing come March
until then assuming needs to stop, especially seeing Rugby 2004 turned out the way it did.

Believe what you want to believe.

Trust me, those aren't Intro movie pics !!!

Why would they release screens from an intro movie? did they do it with rugby 2004 or cricket 2004? hmmmm nope.

btw fifa 2004? Fifa 2005 shits on PES4 IMHO

ak47 u gotta give these guys a chance man, if the only screens and vids they show us are taken from intro movies, ill f***ing su(how do u spell that?) the pricks myself, man those screens look exactly the same as the screens of fifa 2005 b4 it came out and that game is picture perfect, if u think those screens are from an intro(which is quite dumb im sorry to say), just imagine what the actual game graphics would look like lol

Theres no way those are from the intro... why? Because I doubt they'd make the intro worse than the Intro in Rugby 2004, which those screenshots are

for rugby 2004 - Any animated videos that werent from locksley were from the Rugby 2004 intro movie, from what i found anyway

i never found gameplay footage, that wasnt courtosy of locksley

any footage on 2004 came from the intro movie, TV and internet

the amount of time i saw Tana score under the posts at the very end is a dreaded nightmare - only coz it wasnt the game visuals i was expecting.

The very 1st footage of cricket 2004 was the intro movie aswell.

If u think FIFA2005 shits on PES4 - ur on ur own!

All the banners on HB's site last year showed the cricket 2004 intro, only freezeframed, to make a banner.

P.S - U FORGOT HALF THE REASON THEY RELEASED THE INTRO MOVIE 1ST WAS TO DO WITH PROMOTING THE INXS SONG

Thats true. Their was actually gameplay footage released by gamespot which locksley got for us - then we were all doomed. It was pitiful, i couldn't believe what i was seeing, that dive on the ball animation was so laughable! (wonder if they will pick the ball up in 2005, even the sliding pickup took 4 hours in 2004!)
