Rugby2D - my retro rugby game

Hello, I thought I'd sign up and share my rugby game project I'm working on. Here's some pics to give you an example of where I'm at.






I'd love to hear your thoughts/suggestions. My aim is to get the full in game matches tied up pretty soon, then start working on tournaments and a season mode with clubs+management aspects etc.

This looks good! Are you trying to do something like Sunday Rivals? The game is ace with similar design approach. I'd suggest having a look at its gameplay and game modes, community rosters also is a plus. Totally fan of your vison here.

Looks good. Reminds me a lot of Retro Bowl.

Thanks! I am a big fan of Sunday Rivals and Retro Bowl. As well as Legend Bowl, they are all big influences on what I want to achieve with this game. Community rosters will be a thing, I will allow in game editing, possibly a separate out game editor, and the ability to export and import rosters!

Actually meant Legend Ball not Sunday Rvals indeed. Such a fun game, would be awesome to approach this with yours. I guess it's munumental work right?

Oh for sure, I would say Legend Bowl was the main inspiration for kick starting this game. And yes, I will be taking my time to get things right, like you said it's a pretty huge task which will probably take a lot of time to finish! Just got mauls, up and unders and drop goals in today though! So it's progressing nicely
