Pah, all irrelevant. New Zealand have a player called Israel. That's not a person's name, it's a country (not even a good one). No one with that silly a name can be on the winning side at this level.

Looks like rain between now and sat in New Plymoth so, it looks like an up the jumper arm wrestle. Wonder how the S14 will prepare NZ for this. All those shitty nights in Galway may stand us in good stead!

You know where it doesn't rain much? Jerusalem.

New Zealand don't stand a chance.

Lads I'm actually getting more confident we will win.
I really think the Bull will perform steadily and our pack can hassle the All Blacks.

As mentioned we have a talented back line and Gaffney will have them wired for this.
I worry about Trimble but that just because I not a fan but Kearney will command his area and well on his day BOD can beat any team on his own. Also Leinster fans or anyone might not like that ROG is starting BUT if it due to be raining and well ROG is kicking right there is no better man to pin in to the corners and well Heaslip, Donnacha and co will be up for a forwards battle

I'm not sure who will win,
As it's been said over the past 11 pages, both sides are suffering from substantial losses from their starting XVs, so i'd say they're at an equal disadvantage, however i think all blacks at 100% is a stronger side than Ireland at 100%, so i'd still say NZ have the upper hand, especially considering it's at home.
I'll go with an All black win, but it won't be by a lot, and it'll be hard faught. I expect lots of kicked penalties by each side, as well (seems that kidney may be thinking the same starting ROG over Sexton)

New Zealand by 5

On what basis do you predict John Hayes playing well? He's never been a top class performer and if his displays in the 6n were anything to go by it's time he called it a day.

trimble is a good player, you seem to think it's some conspiracy to get an Ulster man in the team but he has played well at this level before and has had a very good season, worth a shot IMO.

On the ROG thing, I don't really think we should be playing a forward oriented game whatever the weather. Our strength is currently in the backs, it's where we're at our least depleated. Unlocking the outside backs should be our goal and I don't think ROG has been able to that in any capacity since 2007.

Regarding Irish rugby, in the 90's Ireland regularly won the wooden spoon in the 6 nations. We couldn't beat Scotland in the 90's. Rugby was played by few people who went to certain rugby playing schools and with the national team losing all the time the rest of the population didn't really care much about it.

Since 2000 professional rugby really took off and Irish teams started to do well. We had decent teams and now we've a decent squad too compared to before. The game is spreading and the next step is to give oppertunities to players outside non rugby schools. The higher standard of coaching and the greater numbers helps with this. The spread of the game really only started 10 years ago. We're begining to see better quality academy players all the time because of the coaching and the quality will rise further as the playing numbers increase.

So for the next world I doubt Ireland could win it, in 2015 we'll be more competitive with a much bigger and talented squad and by 2019 we should be capable of beating any team.

As for Heaslip, I'm afraid people who say he's the best 8 in the world are wearing green tinted glasses or mainly the blue tinted glasses of Leinster. He plays in a team with a dominant pack and was well overshadowed by Rocky Elsom last season. In fairness to him though he has come on a good bit this season. He's stepped up a gear but I'd wait to see how he performs against the AB's, SA and Australia before judging him.

I'm just sick of all these excuses, I like Warran Gatland's way of thinking, if you don't think you can win, I don't want you in my team. The 2007 RWC ****** me off, with Australia and New Zealand *****ing aswell. I'm just saying, you either win a game or lose it, your only as good as your backup players aswell, every team has problems and it seems a lot of the members on this forum think that every game should have an excuse riddled with it.

Personally, I don't like excuses either but it's hardly anything to get worked up over.

I think NZ will win by 10 but if it's close you never know. Declan Kidney is a master of winning tight games.

WHAT PACK HAVE YOU BEEN WATCHING.

I also disagree with the post that TOL has been underperfoming. He has been solid all year round and made a good impact aoming off the bench last week. In some games this season (Italy 6n and Northampton Hcup) He relly showed some international class.

The bull could well lose this game for us if he does put his ass into gear. He needs to be far more aggressive and actually contest at the breakdown he has had the abilit to do this but I don't know whether he presently does. If we can secure possition and be patient we could cause an upset.

Honestly, this thread got a hell of a lot better after I went to bed last night. It seems some realistic optimism came in like a breath of fresh air. As for durbutter earlier being a bit worried about referee interpretation, it's not a SH ref, it's Wayne Barnes. The guy who orchestrated a marvellous blind eye when New Zealand played France in the World Cup. So, interpretation will be our problem.

At the end of the day Ireland may go into the half at a score of 12-6 behind or something. If that happens, is that not going to be a contest? Is Ireland not going to be a tough prospect in the second half with a glorious result just 6 or 7 points away? Sure it could blow out, but it may not either.

There is always an outside chance of an early season knock over for the All Blacks and if it has to happen from any team in the world this season, then I hope it's Ireland. God knows those boys deserve it. If that miraculous result actually happened, I hope the All Black supporters on this forum don't get their nose rubbed in it. We've given Ireland a lot more respect than the Irish fans at times of late.

Despite us having a very small chance on paper, I have managed to convince myself we are going to win somehow, mainly through blind optimism.

Our tight 5 will be dicked, we know this, the AB's know this, the dogs on the street know this. All Black forward coach Hansen came out and said this, which will hopefully be pinned to our dressing room wall and will hopefully give the Irish front 5 the extra motivation needed to pull out the bst performance of the season (and In O'Driscoll's case the best of his career).

Back row, Heaslip wants to prove he is as good as the All Blacks backrow, Wallace wants to beat NZ before he retires, he has beaten everyone else. Muldoon is winning his first "real" cap, and Is representing Connacht. Blood, sweat and tears, 110% hard graft from our forwards to match the All Blacks trademark agression at the breakdown.

It's going to be a shitty day, and we have a 10 who is well capable of mastering these conditions.

I can't wait :D

Ireland will definitely win. The all blacks are infamously crap. C'MON O'DRISCOLL (Mick)

A team wouldn't have to be crap for Ireland to beat them though. Surely, can't a good team beat a great team once in a while? Oh I forgot, this is the internet, if one thing is good the other is utter crap, lol. :)

How can we lose? We have two O'Driscolls. You don't even have one.

Still think it's silly to play ROG with such a weak front 5 though. It also effectively removes Wally from the breakdown.

Feic I think Hayes will play well as he owes us 1 big game and I just have a feeling. But you are right I think it a conspiracy that Trimble is in because he has had plenty of chances at this level and wasn't up to it. Yea he performed with Ulster but he never brings that to Ireland.

Also I think if it a teritory game we are playin then ROG should start and well it seems that our game plan and well I think apart from the scrum we can take them up front

The two O'Driscolls are probably as similar as MunterMan and munstermuffin. The only difference is Man muffin which I'm sure both are familiar with!

Is there a prize for mocking two members at once about their members?
