My God that interview is ****ing GLORIOUS!
I'm gutted there was only 11 days between announcement and fight, I could watch this for months.

Also I'm firmly in the 209 camp now

Second press conference was a cracker.
Getting bored of all McGregor's money talk. It's like he has PR writing his witty one liners but then when he's gotta come up with something on the spot he just starts saying how rich he is.
Diaz laying into Ido Portal was genuinely hilarious. "You're too busy playing touch butt in the park with that dork with the ponytail".

Bit of a scuffle at the face off - McGregor threw a hook into Diaz' hand and Nate looked to be holding it/massaging it in some discomfort after it all died down, hope he hasn't broken something, hands can be pretty fragile.
Nate did get a cheeky kick into McGregor round the side of Dana afterwards, though.
Great to see the scrap pack all charge on stage - Jake Shields pretending to break it up to get close to McGregor before security spotted him and shooed him away
Nick Diaz looked ready to snap someone in half - at one point he stole McGregor's belt from the guy holding it
I think the money talk actually works though. It's the one thing McGregor has over all of them, they all know that McGregor is the poster boy for the UFC and that they're getting the payday they are solely because of him. Diaz knows his claims that he brings money to this fight are bull**** as much as we do. Can't wait for the fight, really interested to see how McGregor does without having to cut weight, I can't see him losing either, no matter what he says I don't think he'd risk losing when he doesn't have to.

Fair points,

I just love Diaz' recations to McGregor's jabs, or should I say lack thereof. McGregor getting more riled and shouting and Nate just either ignores him or says "i don't give a ****".

"I'm a lion, I'm going to kill and devour you, you're a gazelle"
"I don't know what a gazelle is"

"Does it get in your head when he says he's going to bury you"
"....mhm...yep"
It's like he's not even listening to him, like Conor's a toddler having a tantrum.

Then ripping on stockton saying they're all snitches and canaries and how he'll demolish everyone....doesn't even get a raised eyebrow from Diaz.
Then Diaz comes in with "you're a rich kid" and he flips his lid. Same with the steroids comments. He knows exactly how to get a rise, even if he is just pulling things out of his ass.

I think that's why I prefer Diaz to McGregor in the press - McGregor has all these prewritten poetic slams, Diaz will just call you a ****.

I'm so hyped for the weigh in later, there's gonna be some major sparks flying.
I'm also gutted Nick's ban extends to not being allowed in Nate's corner, as well, because I could really see him dropping someone after the fight if he was in the octagon.

Yeah, Diaz is coming out with good and genuinely funny stuff. I can't see anyone dealing with McGregor as well as this for the rest of his career, most the top guys are far more disciplined which McGregor has managed to use against him. He perfectly manipulated Aldo because Aldo puts so much importance on respect, Diaz literally doesn't give a ****, genuinely moreso than McGregor whose image is everything.

I know now very little about the sport but the mind games are so fascinating and important when McGregor is involved.

Absolutely - I despise McGregor in the run up to a fight but love him the rest of the year. Seems like such a genuine and nice guy but I hate his press persona. It 100% works, though, and brings in the crowds and the cash, so fair play to him.

I'm really looking forward to this fight, though. So much.
I feel Diaz is being written off by a lot of people (especially as McGregor has a lot of fans really new to the sport).
It's a shame that he's only had an 11 day fight camp, but he should still be in good condition.

Battle of the boxing will be interesting - Conor obviously a great boxer but the Diaz brothers are arguably two of the best boxers in the UFC. They train, and spar, with Andre Ward and Ward is on record as saying that they could both sack in the UFC and go pro as boxers if they wanted (but they won't due to their love of MMA/BJJ).
Diaz's BJJ will blow Conor away if they go on the floor - he's got his black belt from some of the best trainers in the business, regularly rolls with the best in the business and travels around the world specifically to train and learn from masters of the sport.

Conor has more power and better movement, and his kicking game is better which will be important considering the reach advantage. His takedown defence is also very good, and Diaz isn't known for his takedowns.

This is worth a watch just to see Nate's BJJ at the end. Great movement:

It works, definitely, but i am very surprised and disappointed it does. I mean, it sounds as a very easy thing to counter, verbally i mean. He is talking about numbers that no one else has access to, and that no real fan gives a **** about. They are important in terms of business/awareness, etc, but from a fighting perspective, they are irrelevant. It'd be pretty easy to turn that against him. I mean, we all know Floyd has a similar style (about money) but i can't recall people like tyson, pacquiao, Chavez, Trinidad, JSP, Fedor or Silva talking about money on their press conferences. Do what Pacquiao did with Floyd: "lets both donate the purse to charity". Fans tend to side with whoever makes that sort of statement and there aren't many witty comebacks to that.

Don't get me wrong, McG is nothing short of phenomenal skillwise, but i think a few can take him. I have this feeling that after Aldo (won fair, but a tad lucky imo) his confidence just went through the roof and he bought into the hype he's selling.

He will beat Diaz tho. it won't even go to a decision.
Having said that, I think he is biting more than he can chew if he thinks people like Khabib will be a walk through the park. Khabib appears to be the kind of person that fights better when he is angry. He is respectful but doesn't take bull****. His PR persona's would complement nicely too. Just re-watched Dos Anjos vs Khabib again and i don't see how McG can counter that, other than a very early knock out. Then again, Khabib has been out for a while.
I want McG to fight a top tier wrestler/sambo guy who goes through a full camp.

Speaking of phenomenal skills, did you guys see Stephen Thompson? Out of this world. He literally destroyed Hendricks.

The only 'alleged sport' that makes Floyd Mayweather look classy.

In what way is it not a sport?

It's basically human cock fighting. People who could never make it in boxing, and are too violent/dumb to compete in real boxing/martial arts beating each other to a pulp within a cage (should be a hint).

Oh dear.

And I suppose rugby is just the fat lads who weren't good enough for football, so they opted for egg-chasing instead?

Can we not have this, it's pointless? It's clearly a sport that requires huge levels of skill, and also arguably safer than boxing without the 10 count.

If you don't like it, ignore it, no point riling fans for no reason.

How is it safer than boxing when you see flurries of punches thrown from point blank range on people already with concussions?

That describes boxing too... MMA rules don't let fighters who have been knocked out continue to fight if they can get back up within 10 seconds and a lot of the grapplers don't throw too many dangerous punches at all, add in that many of the strikes hit legs as well. It's evened out by the gloves but from what I've read there's little difference in how dangerous they are long term and a lot of people lean to MMA being safer, no hard evidence that I have found as of yet but I don't exactly go looking.

Anyway, nothing too interesting in the weigh in other than the fact you can't see every nook and cranny of McGregor's skull, he's probably at his optimum freighting weight.

Arguably one of the most ignorant posts i've read in a while.

I don't think it is safer than boxing, not sure to be honest, but there are some aspect that could make that argument. Clinching is a valid and legal way of defending yourself in mma, while it is not in boxing (ref will stop you and separate).
Then again, in boxing you cannot hit an opponent who is on the ground.

Hoping Diaz pulls off the win, always had a soft spot for the guy. The contrasts in styles and size should be most interesting. Diaz's boxing is world class, while McGregor has the power and the ''timing'' as he calls it.

Diaz by Stockton slap.
