Leinster v Munster

regardless of whether it was out of character and just frustration, that still doesn't excuse it, he'll probably be given a 6 week ban and he'll be back for the Autumn Internationals, at this stage of his career he doesn't need a club game to be ready for a test match.

I still don't know what I'm more surprised at; the fact that Hayes was sent off or that we nilled Munster.

It's going to be an Irish disciplinary panel, no? He'll probably get a token one or two week ban and be back well in time for the November internationals. Which actually is a convenient segway into a question of mine: Why are they called the Autumn internationals when they take place in winter? Always wondered that.

I the same and a crate of Magners hasn't got me any closer to answer <_<

But agree Hayes doesn't need gqmes if fit but he could do with bit more game time but who have we to come in will Buckley be the best option seen as we don't have much other choice

no idea, same question could be posed of the SH brigade who call them Spring tours even though they take place in their Summer!

Anyway the one thing that should come out of this is independent citing commissioners for the Magners League, it certainly would have led to a decent ban for Rhys Thomas and Hayes would more than likely get the ban he deserves, I know I'm pre-empting the judgement but I think it's a safe bet to assume he won't have the book thrown at him.

Well, not a very big book anyway. ^_^ The ML should really get it's arse in gear over this. The fact that there is not independent citing body is a complete joke. In the pro era if you can get away with it someone will probably do it. The best way to cut out this sort of behaviour is to make it impossible to get away with it then. It just shows how young the ML and I guess pro rugby in general is that stuff like this still hasn't been sorted out.

Now to go out and get drunk....life is good when one turns 18/[/b]

Getting served when your 17 is much better, and thankfully I went out at half time!
[/b][/quote]

Getting served is great. Getting ID'd for chips at your local is not. And getting booted out (as I have just been) because I said 'f*** you' to an off-duty barmaid after she sprayed me with some mr muscle is even more annoying.

Anyway, Munster just got destroyed. Leinster only just managed to scrape Edinburgh last week... doesn't bode well for Munster's season.

Dont make the mistake of comparing an away win to Edinburgh to a home match vs Munster. Two totally different Leinster performances.

Also on the Bull's case. Think he shouldn't be banned on basis he is a gentleman off field, rarely in trouble with a ref in all his time playing and he was not the only player comitting the foul.[/b]
I disagree entirely. Hayes had two goes at Healy's head. He looked down and knew precisely what he was doing. His previous record will count in his favour (unlike, say, Quinlan) but he deserves a ban.

Here's a clip of it:

I agree with what ye were saying and just think that the red card should be deemed enough or 3weeks max like I was just making point that the Bull was not the only player although he was only 1 who connected effectively. Like there was some incidents involving both players but none malicious like it was a derby and I just hope the Bull doesn't miss much especially not AI's as I feel it would end his international career and it not way a man who has given so much to game should bow out

WTF??

Yeah. Sometimes people don't read things before they post them. Can we all stop talking about this. It depresses me.

Ah that'd be why Munster got whooped then ;) :p
Here fishy fishy...

Saw the highlights on Scrum V, Leinster looked class and showed a huge signal of intent for the Heineken next week. What Hayes did was just disgusting, even if it was just one moment of madness from a gentleman of a rugby player, he still should have the book thrown at him because there's just no room in the game for what he did.

The stamp was that close to the eyes i'd be surprised to see a small 1-3week ban,
He's VERY lucky it didn't do some serious damage (i.e a stud in the eye).
His reputation, i think, won't really make a difference (like Parisse in the summer, one moment of madness in an otherwise sparkling record (that i'm aware of))
But then again, if it's not an independent citing panel, then they may do things differently

Of course they will. As the Welsh were able to let the Scarlets Prop off with "no case to answer" for his flying headbutt on Horgan, the Irish should be more than comfortable in returning the same verdict for Hayes.

To be fair, pretty much every Leinster player playing has said that they hope Hayes doesnt get hammered. Healy himself was in the Munster dressing room afterwards talking to the Bull about it, Jackman has come out and said his disciplinary record should be factored in

Hopefully he'll get off scot free so the governing body HAS to put an independent citing commissioner in place.

I think you will find that November is actually in Autumn.

Spring March 21-June 21
Summer June 21-September 21
Autumn September 21-December 21
Winter December 21-March 21

Off Aertel

http://www.rte.ie/aertel/241-01.html

but hearing is tomorrow at 4.

Also heard that Munster confident he will get off without ban.

Reasons given to me:
(Please note not agreeing or disagreeing, just passing on information told to me from member of Munster Union)
- Video evidence not accurate and how can it deem stamping when his direction of looking was not accurately shown to be facing down
- Excellent record in past regards discipline
- Recent precedent cases also they have highlighted(1 been from asia and 2 from SH where 1 week bans were all that was given for"worst, dangerous and malicious" stamps)

But on side note it was said that the IRFU know also if he isn't banned there won't be any major problems as Ireland NEED JOHN HAYES AND LEINSTER UNION WONT BE COMPLAINING THAT WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD. At end of day we're fans and may cri etc but Union know that'll happen whatever verdict yeah. and REVIEW is interesting word in statement.

Still think it should be sorted ASAP as let not forget the real Competition start Friday and can see it been a cracker in RDS although Leinster have way too much for L.Irish missing D.Armitage and Geraghty leaving was blow too.
Both Munster and Leinster have very tricky openers but feel we can win both. B)

Also heard week or 2 ago Alan Gaffney may take up position of Head Coach at end of season.
Although I sure Eddies name will be thrown around but doubt he'll leave US

"IRFU know also if he isn't banned there won't be any major problems as Ireland NEED JOHN HAYES AND LEINSTER UNION WONT BE COMPLAINING THAT WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD."

And that sums up just about every problem and every ounce of corruption in rugby today...

Oh, and Jeand de Who-lliers?[/b]

Please never ever ever ever ever use that damned "'insert name here' who" call again. Isn't it a bit harsh anyway, when JDV was marking 2 men and had to make a diving tackle on BOD?

Anyway, BOD did really well to score from there, so well done Leinster

Won't argue ... even though if i could pick any player to benefit and get off it'd be Bull.

But way I see it if rest of world is doing this why not join in. Like why should we discipline our guys when rest won't.

I all for cleaning up the game etc but want it done ...... everyone altogether and strict and mandatory sentences so each categor of offence has fixed penalty eg Gouging = Automatic 6 months, A year whatever but so that we all know.

So IRB instead of changing laws constantly (when our game is great just way it is) and doing lots of B'Sh*te experiments on new balls why not do something about dicipline procedures and sort it

Exactly like JDV will be great when he adapts like if BOD went playing S14  He'd be sh*te for first new games too as he adopts and blends in
