Exactly like JDV will be great when he adapts like if BOD went playing S14  He'd be sh*te for first new games too as he adopts and blends in[/b]
I dont think DeVilliers is the problem. Way to early for him to be questioned. I would question whether Mafi is capable of bringing any other players into the game around him. Not sure if he's a real 13. He certainly isnt playing like one at the moment.

Wellthat my line of thinking ... We signed De Villiers but with that Mafi is a 12 that all he is.
He probably most aggressive 12 in Europe and possibly the best but it like putting BOD on wing .... He not a winger. But on BOD he can link with backlines and his game is picking holes and laying off when suckimg defenders in creating the over-laps like 13's do etc. Mafi is old-school 12 where his game is picking holes but if he has to he'll go through you but it not that he greedy it just not his game sprating ball.

I just getting afraid that we sacrificing balance for getting all best players in.
Leinster did it before had world-class individuals but were crap as team but now have a unit and balance.

No 1 player will win you a game it has to be building viable and effective units where various styles complement each other

It's going to be an Irish disciplinary panel, no? He'll probably get a token one or two week ban and be back well in time for the November internationals. Which actually is a convenient segway into a question of mine: Why are they called the Autumn internationals when they take place in winter? Always wondered that.[/b]

I think you will find that November is actually in Autumn.

Spring March 21-June 21
Summer June 21-September 21
Autumn September 21-December 21
Winter December 21-March 21

we're taught differently here, Winter is November to the end of the January, Spring the next 3 months, Summer the following 3 and then Autumn.

Earls and De Villiers would be a better option as Earls certainly doesn't look like a full back and Hurley's place looks set for the pool stages on the wing. Warwick coming back at full back should improve the situation as well.

I'd actually say Earls and Mafi. DeVilliers has been trying but he looks off the pace at the moment. He hasnt been given time to bed himself in yet, its too early for him to perform.

It hard to see who'll make it but i think Warwick has to play as he is very good skillfully and using his head not to forget he has awsome DG rate if required.

It hard to slate Earls after 1 game in a very tricky RDS breeze at FB but I kinda would like to see it tried as an experiment of

9. O'Leary
10. O'Gara
11. De Villiers
12. Mafi
13. Earls
14. Howlett
15. Warick

20. Morland
21. Hurley
22. Dowling

JDV picked on wing because he can play there Mafi hasn't and I feel both are good enough to play.
Hurley isn't a bad bet either just think player ahead are worth bit more value.
But would anyone agree Mafi could possibly make great winger although his tackling would be a loss in centre.

DeVilliers isnt a winger[/b]

Well if you watched alot of SH rugby you'd recall he has played on wing for club and country.

But i know he is a natural centre but i was just trying to fit everyone in and picked JDV over Mafi on wing as JDV at least has experience on wing.

Oh, and Jeand de Who-lliers?[/b]

Please never ever ever ever ever use that damned "'insert name here' who" call again. Isn't it a bit harsh anyway, when JDV was marking 2 men and had to make a diving tackle on BOD?

Anyway, BOD did really well to score from there, so well done Leinster

I will use the "damned 'insert name here who' call" all night long. Didn't know you were so sensitive to a bit of Southern African directed criticism. Next time you log onto the forum make sure you take off your skirt and panties.

I'd pick Paul Warwick ahead of O'Gara for the upcoming game. He might be the man needed to give JdV and Mafi the space they need. Besides, the latter have only had two games together thus far. I assume O'Connell will be in the starting XV this time, so he might even the odds regarding physicality in the pack, and Wallace will add more flair in attack. Also, Denis Leamy should not play on the blindside... he's much more of an #8. Definitely.

Any news on Hayes? If he does get the 9-week ban everybody has been talking about, then he'll miss out the away game to Northampton and at home against Perpignan... and probably the whole lot of November internationals against South Africa, Australia and Fiji. Bummer. Who will replace Hayes -- Buckley?

It ok KZN he Ulster fan they just bit annoyed because the best back they had is now with Osprey and despite having buckets f potential they wont turn it in to Competitors :p

Although hope they do because input from 3 provinces in natinal team is better than 2. :)

C'mon Ireland Munster, Leinster & Ulster all to win over weekend :bravo:

Mafi's game is beating the first defender and offloading, he is not a 13, but he is still a very very effective player.

They stated on Scrum V last night he should get a 54-week ban, the maximum for stamping. The minmum is 5.

Has been said on various reports Hayes is looking at suspension but wth Ireland vs Austrailia on Sunday suspension could be up Sat night on 6week ban but he won't get more than 6 and is looking at maybe 2 - 4 weeks.

On Warwick/O'Gara issue I liked Warwick at FB and prefer him to at 10 as he gets around and sprays ball quicker but ROG is the better at tactical kicking so depends on game-plan but options are there. Anyway that argument is pointless because it extremely hard to see ROG been dropped.

Won't get longer than 8 week ban already been guaranteed that. As i stated earlier there still slim hope of no ban but at worst they think it will be 3-4 week max

And Munsterman agreed Mafi's game is at 12 and not just offensively but defensively too.

hearing is tomorrow at 4pm Irish time so we should know something a couple of hours later, seems like he's looking at anything between 4 and 8 weeks.

I secretly watch Ospreys with envy...ha ha ha.
However, I think this season Ulster will turn that potential into real competitiveness. Maybe...

If John Hayes gets banned won't it have to be Tony Buckley? Buckley (or T-Buck, as I affectionately call him in my mind) has so much potential. He scored a bruising try against Georgia in the Churchill Cup this summer. While I love Hayes, it would be good for Buckley to have the pressure on him to perform consistantly.

While we're on the subject of props, how 'bout the Cian Healy?

yeah he had another great game on Saturday but he really does play on the edge and another night another ref would have blown him off the park, definitely something he needs to improve upon before he ousts Horan for Ireland.
