Leinster v Munster

given im only watching it now and 30 mins into it but just from what ive seen the JDV and Mafi need to switch i dont think Mafi is a very good 13 hes more of a crash ball player and a bit selfish.

Switching them might not be a good idea. The inside centre is far more responsible for the distrubution of the ball than the outside centre. Having Mafi at #12 (and JdV at 13# for that matter) would relegate JdV and the right winger to just watching the game, neglecting them from partaking in open play. JdV isn't a kicker, but a crasher as well. Having a centre pairing that avoids kicking can be afforded when your fly-half is efficient in his kicking game, something O'Gara has not been able to deliver properly. It happened to the All Blacks until Carter came back. Donald is not a natural fly-half, and his incapability of unfolding a kicking game had the AB's pinned down to their own 22 trying to run the ball past the Boks.

O'Gara plays a key role on JdV - Mafi combination.

On Munster. There were runours this week (pre-match) of some "unrest in the camp" which is all a bit weird. Granted the rumours were started by David Corkery, but its something that has never been suggested of Munster for a long long time.

The Mafi / JDV combination is only two games in.

I really enjoyed this game, and I love the Leinster style of play. It's an even bigger credit to them that they smashed Munster up front, which enabled the backs to steal the show. The crowd was class as well. I particularly enjoyed the 'campeones, campoenes, ole, ole, ole'.

In the prediction thread I guessed the score as 777-0 to Leinster. I was half right!

McLaughlin, Fitzgerald, Hines, Jennings and Healy were immense. Ahead of the Heineken Cup next week, I doubt Michael Cheika will make a single change to that team. What impresses me hugely though is that if some of that XV don't perform, Leinster have ample impact subs in Jackman, Ross, Van Der Linde, O'Kelly, O'Brien, McFadden and Kearney who are good enough to start for most teams in Europe.

As an aside, John Hayes should be ashamed of what he did.

Seeing Munster lose is the greatest thing ever. I didn't actually see it, but you know what I mean.

They'll still most likely win their European pool though.

Leinster out-classed Munster on all parts. I was surprised how much stronger Leinster looked on all fronts. The forwards and the backs dominate the match. I've seen the John Hayes clip a few times. No excuses for stamping the head/face. I think he meant to stamp, but I don't think he was aware that it was his head. I'm giving Hayes credit for the fact that he's always been a standup guy.

Oh, and Jeand de Who-lliers?

Now to go out and get drunk....life is good when one turns 18/[/b]

Getting served when your 17 is much better, and thankfully I went out at half time!

Lads just back from Dublin bit worst for wear but well cant complain with result we collapsed but as monkey did last night n I did also, went out in Dublin wearing Red jersey with pride because Leinster are on top-form now but over past 10/11/12 years we've always been at business end of things.

On match I think Leinster were far better all over ant think what Rocky Elsom did for them last year made them all (even likes of Heaslip Cullen etc) go to a new level and set bigger and better foundations. ROG was poor and isn't functioning greatly since that famous 2nd Test.

Still have sneaky feeling we could be like Leinster last year and need these type of results to kick us back down to earth and raise the bar again.

But well in AI's if we're serious about using Sexton etc (although still think O'Leary far better than Reddan) then throw these guys in against Austrailia and S.Africa and not just against Fiji.

Also on the Bull's case. Think he shouldn't be banned on basis he is a gentleman off field, rarely in trouble with a ref in all his time playing and he was not the only player comitting the foul.

LMAO! Yeah I'm sure you are sitting there in your rocking chair as a withered, 18-year-old veteran wondering why you wasted your former years.

Sorry pal, that's absolute ****. What he did was a f***ing disgrace and should get a 20 week ban.

This is the Magners league, If we follow the WRU's prededent he won't get a ban, the red card will be deemed sufficient punishment. BTW I still haven't seen the incident, but I heard it was a stamp on Healy's head?

I disagree entirely. Hayes had two goes at Healy's head. He looked down and knew precisely what he was doing. His previous record will count in his favour (unlike, say, Quinlan) but he deserves a ban.

Here's a clip of it:

Yeah, he deserves a ban. It was reckless though not a malicious attempt to get him in the face. He couldn't see where he was kicking. Not defending the idea of just closing your eyes and kicking so you get a less ban. Just that he wasn't trying to kick him in the head.

Kick in the midriff is what he was going for. I'm convinced of it.

5-10 Week ban.

The incident happened right in front of me (I was about 10 rows back, directly in line sitting in the Grandstand). Hayes looked down and knew what he was doing.

Sorry, didn't see your above post (with clip) till after I'd posted mine. Still don't think he could see through people but I know I'm in denial here because it's John Hayes.
