June Internationals - South Africa vs. Samoa (22/06/2013)

Alesana Tuilagi is a murderer! a VERY dirty tackle on Peter De Villiers. Indiscipline is not improves to Samoa. They are very gross. Samoan Scrum is a mess, like their lines out.

Until they improve their indiscipline, they will lose against the best teams.

He stiff armed high late tackled Jean De Villiers... WWE wrestlers would have been proud of that clothesline...

Alice just set his shoulders a bit high, if it was a bit lower it would've been a big hit. If you watch some of his previous hits, most of it is the same, only on his previous ones he gets them below the shoulders. We've seen tackles like that in Super Rugby high and around the chest. It's not something only Samoa does.

Absolutely spot on! Hard hitting tackles are something that define the Pacific Island teams and something we all enjoy. He just got this one wrong is all :)

You're right, in Super Rugby are many high tackles but Samoa is characterized by them in the major important games. Historically indiscipline Samoa side will lose big games, if you had more intelligence and know where on the court and when to make a trap, you might have better results.

Yeah, it's something we all enjoy but do have to know when and when not. Can be negative for the team, as it was today for Samoa.

Hey hey calm down. No need to insult my countries way of playing Rugby. Its just a head high and by the looks of how the players involved (JDV & Tuilagi) shook hands and carried on, so should we. Perhaps should just get over it as they did. Playing Rugby in NZ personally, we come across that all the time and its not all Samoans, its anybody. We'll see something like that again in another game.

Thank you. Thats exactly what happened. Im sure JDV would say the same.

I'm not insulting your country, on the contrary I'm saying you have very good raw material. You have great players with great athletic ability, great technique and very strong individually. If you manage to play as a team can accomplish many things. I just spoke of intelligence in the game, knowing when and where to attack. You had a great chance in the last RWC and narrowly lost against Wales and Boks. If you were playing a smarter way those games, they could have eliminated one of those two teams.

It's just an opinion about the game, don't take it personally. I like many Samoans players and I feel great admiration for Samoa Rugby Team.

Greetings!

Great game from South Africa. I was impressed with Engelbrecht. That guy really stepped up this month. Overall, it's a good result, but there are still small things that need to change. I was actually hoping to see a bit more fresh blood in these 3 games, but with Kolisi, Nyakane, van Zyl, Engelbrecht, Serfontein en Le Roux we have a batch of players who have shown what can be expected of them.

I think the red card for Tuilagi was a bit harsh. Yes, it was a stiff arm, yes it was a bit late and high, but if you look at it closely, you see JdV loses the ball a split second before impact, plus, he keeps his head low. 2 things that, for me, nullify the high tackle and late tackle part. For me, a yellow card for the stiff arm was enough. What I was more concerned about, was what happened later on in the game when Oosthuizen got kicked in the groin (by, I think it was no. 17).

Happy with the result and the progress shown. I just hope this was enough to prepare for facing the All Blacks, Pumas and Wallabies next month.

Oh I see, forgive me as maybe I've jumped the gun.

I guess we could play a bit smarter. Pisi is runnin things and he's going ok but there are times where maybe we should look at other options other than just running it. I thought taking off Leiua was dumb, Tuilagi wasn't doing much other than that head high, Tuilagi should've been subbed.

I can't remember the other things that frustrated me during that game.

I think you might be talking about the disgraceful act from our fullback So'oialo.

No, there was a seperate incident, after the red card for Tuilagi. I think it was around the 60th minute. Oosthuizen tackled no. 17, who went to ground and while on his back, kicked upwards into Oosthuizen's groin. SA was awarded a penalty for that but it was on the camera-side of the pitch, not the far side where the Strauss incident happened.

For me worse that the high tackle. To me it looked like Alesana Tuilagi had his head down and was dedicated to the tackle prior to JdV fumbling it - and attempted a tackle that he just got wrong and it went high. The whole 'stiff arm' thing I think is a bit much, if it was four inches lower it would have just been a great hit in my opinion. A yellow would have been more appropreate than a red. However having someone grab your testicals in a match I'd totally want a red.

A few weeks ago I was playing a game of rugby against another team in a promotion match. We were destorying the team and I was humiliating the opposite prop in the scrums. Well anyway he was talking crap all game and always looking for a fight. He lined my up after I made a run and tried to tackle me. I offloaded the ball but he continued to try and tackle me for about three seconds later. Well eventually I thought "If I'm eventually ganna fall screw landing on my arse after I've offloaded and he's continuing - so I landed with my knees into his chest. Anyway he was angry and from the ground punched me in the nuts. Never have I been so close to just stomping a mans face in in my life - had half the sideline holding me back. So I know exactly how Andriaan feels and I think a referee needs to red card that sort of crap.

I will try to upload the incident I am referring to, tonight.

On a side note the South African commentator on Sky sports(Hugh Bladen I think his name is) is an utter disgrace....by far the most bias commentator I've had the misfortune of having to listen to over the last few weeks :( booooo

Bladen is the worst announcer I've heard during rugby, apart from Greg Martin (AUS). You cannot really blame Sky Sports since they just aired the SuperSport feed (SA channel). When I hear Bladen, I just get annoyed by his utter stupidity and work stumbling. Ref yells knock-on 3 times, and this smart ass says: I think the ball was turned over.

I prefer Andy Campostagno and Joel Stransky.

The ref gave the Red on a call made by the TMO, and in all fairness, I think the ref would've given a red regardless on the call. He warned the Samoans so many times. Stopped the game several times to talk to the samoan captain, and he tried his very best to keep the game flowing. The ref I thought, was brilliant, he made the right calls, kept the game flowing, and had good discussions with the players.

The samoans were rightfully punished for their ill discipline. The red card was warranted, as it was high, and they used that threshold appropriately.

how weird is that ballsack squeeze ?...why the hell would you do that unless you're a 7 yo retarded child...
