Ireland v Samoa

if we offer hayes some farms would he quit rugby?
court played better last week at least he is capable of playing better
im happy with toner though

It's a shame Hayes didn't retire a few years ago,
A lot of younger fans are going to remember him for his crap performances now, rather than for his good stuff back in the day

I never want to see Ireland get beaten but Samoa deserve this. We're playing redundant rugby and half the team are passengers. Declan Kidney's a good coach but he needs to pull his finger out of his ass and sort this out. In truth Ireland have been poor for 18 months and are playing puke rugby- maybe boring rugby is what Kidney excels at but it's got no future the way the game is being refereed now.

As much as I believe Ireland do not deserve to win this match I have to say, the ref has failed to call Samoa on hands in the ruck so many times it's unbelievable

Every side that loses a match or wins by less than expected makes this call these days. Sometimes it's true, but it's only been called that way about 55 times in the last year around the world.

Utter **** that was the worst game of rugby i have seen in a very long time

Is it not worth watching later, then?
Was going to watch it to see how Paul Williams got on, but doesn't seem like I missed much!

Good to see John Hayes taken off after 60 minutes. He'll be nicely rested ahead of his start against NZ next weekend.................
F'n joke of a call to pick him. I'm no rugby expert but even I could all see that Hayes is passed it. Why can't respected coaches like Kidney and Smal notice that he's fit for the knacker's yard? It's glaringly obvious.

Firstly I think the officals poorly refereed the scrum and breakdown propally. He missed alot of Samoan infringements but Samoa used the ref well.

Positives:
-Fitzgerald played brilliantly, He managed to beat players every time he got the ball and his poitioning was great.
-Are ball security was much better than last week, the forwards got to carry the ball though the phases more.
-Toner won his first cap and played brilliantly.
-the lineout was great and cronin through well.
-Stringer played well
-our defence was good
-WE WON!!!

Negatives:
-The backs didn't execute any real threatning moves
-Ball is to slow at the breakdown
-to many handling errors and penalties conceeded
-The SCRUM. John Hayes was shite and shorely this game says to Kidney that he is not the player he used to be and never will be. Tom Court was far better a tight head an the scrum was better when Healy came on. We need to see Mike Ross.
-Why wasn't Earls used?

Well I for 1 am delighted today happened because we learnt alot.

- I for one was a critic of Toner but now believe he will be useful but still needs bit more work.
- Our prop issue is becoming a real issue and Snoop you are correct Hayes was replaced so he'd be ready for NZ which worrys me as Court and Healy don't fill me with confidence
- At the moment I think ROG and Stringer have to be our half-backs as they are clearly in the best form
- Luke Fitz seemed to slot in as if he was playing 15 for last few years and well hopefully that means Earls correctly wasn't used today because he will be starting against NZ in the 11 shirt with Luke at 15

Also credit must also be given to Samoa as they really were a great opposition and well I think if they could get a tour every Autumn then they could really be a more intimidating opposition because they have a superb base

Positives:
-Fitzgerald played brilliantly, He managed to beat players every time he got the ball and his poitioning was great. -He was grand, but not brilliant. He was certainly composed under pressure
-Are ball security was much better than last week, the forwards got to carry the ball though the phases more. -We were playing against a worse pack though
-Toner won his first cap and played brilliantly. -Yeah he was quite good. Very good in the lineout
-the lineout was great and cronin through well. -Lineout was good. If it was great we'd have won more of theirs. Cronin was good alright
-Stringer played well -Don't really agree with this. He had his moments but was very clumsy imo and didn't deal with the pressure well.
-our defence was good -Nope. See Tuilagi try plus several other occasions where Samoa gained yards at their leisure
-WE WON!!! -Meh

Negatives:

Further negatives:

- Handling was awful again, particularly Trimble I'm sad to say.
- No leadership.
- Everyone looked panicked and flustered.
- Another empty stadium with no atmosphere

This looks like the start of a bad stage for Irish rugby...

King D'Arcy I agree about the leadership issue and well that scares me - As I know BOD is a great captain but it seemed like Paul O'Connells injury is starting to creep in now and we are missing him, but at least he is due back for Heineken Cup battle with Ospreys.

And I glad you mentioned Trimble because I didn't want to put him down :D But he was poor AGAIN for Ireland and well the quicker Deccie snaps out of it and gives a few of that team a 'thanks and bye' the better. Reality is loyalty is grand but he's been too loyal to John Hayes and well a few others just simply won't last until the World Cup and I for 1 would be quite happy if we used 6Nations etc to have a go at winning it but also getting Mike Ross/Buckley and Court/Healy tandems working
