Ireland v Argentina - 15/11/2024 - (20.10)

Definitely head contact but I hate the simulating/over egging it now - I mean I get it because they want the TMO to notice, but it's still gross to see
Rugby feels like it is going very football, over exaggerated on basically every foul play, wether its blocking access, head contact, anything at the ruck, perceived high tackles

Very damp squib ending, would love to see the replay on that. Ireland look very shaky, nothing like the team that was up there with the springboks.

Got dâmn the tv production for rugby is horrible. You guys don't have a snowball's chance in hell gaining traction here with this crap.

Amateur sport trying to compete against professional killers.

Show the knock on!!!

Phew... Think a few more changes are needed up front. 60 minute pack, gassed so badly.

Beirne into the row and Prendergast at 6 is how I'd go.

I think that was a lucky escape for Ireland.

Got away with a lot.

And hard luck Argentina. There's a saying in Ireland that you have to lose one to win one, that could have been that "one" in Dublin after a string of one sided tests here.

Ireland could play much better I think.
Tough first half, but I don't know why, I was falling asleep during second one...

Think Sheehan's loss has been understated. Probably time to move POM on.

Start him next week and get the international "retirement" rumours going.

Sub 9 is worrying, Casey was God awful.

That's still pretty mild tinkering at what looks like a larger problem.

Church and Rob Herring are combined over 70 years old. Herring hasn't played 1 minute this season before last week.
Where are the youngsters looking to push them out?

James Ryan has looked a yard off. Yet no one putting their hand up and in the kind of form to say to Andy Farrell - "I dare you not to pick me or drop me".

Turnovers have disappeared too. We are throwing bodies at the breakdown - but without being particularly effective.

Osborne in 20 minutes tonight showed a different level of energy compared to what we'd seen across every other back for the previous 60.

Think your question is the answer there. Gus is a couple years off and him or Kelleher need to move province with Sheehan owning the 2 jersey.

Ryan will come good again, he was great in 22 and 23 but I think he needs to go to the bench.

Yep, severe lack of dynamism in the pack.

Ah Ringer was class, emptying lads and made serious yards. Henshaw started well and faded. We look an old team, think @corny Said it last week, but it's not a case of getting anyone over 30 out. Over 34? Probably time to step aside.

I think there are a few cracks for Ireland that are a worry, and somewhat unavoidable with the pathway you run. Hooker and prop depth issues, then I think Farrell maybe needs to be called on his conservative selections, been very slow to start the turnover to the new generation. Cormac to me should have been starting last weekend at 6 for example imo.

Overall I think Ireland will remain very good and maybe this November will highlight the need to transition with next year being slightly painful but needed moving on from older generation.

This will probably come out wrong, so apologies in advance, but i have to ask: did anyone here saw the knock-on?

No excuses, you guys won. Congrats. I just didnt see it and the broadcast here showed no replay, which i found odd, hence my question.

No, they cut straight to post time hugs on the int. Feed.

To be fair - there aren't many ripping up trees with the provinces at the moment.

We're utter mince. Wig has just left Munster 'cos they can't get anyone in on injury cover as their academy kids aren't at the level and they've trawled the AIL finding nothing.
Connacht are actually 2nd best of the 4 right now, but they're flaky as.

Leaving only Leinster, as usual. But they don't look to be cruising the same as they have been in years gone by either.

There wasn't a knock-on, Ireland's football style appealing at every ruck swayed the officials. Argentina were absolutely robbed. Ireland are such a dislikeable side - off their feet at every ruck, constantly appealing for decisions, and kill opponents ball every time they defend in the red zone. I didn't know that putting your foot over the ball whilst coming in from the side was legal either. Ireland are just cheats, pure and simple. They have a different offside line to every other international team as well. You just knew Argentina would get screwed tonight, it was obvious.

My bigger worries are:
Hooker. Sheehan is world class. The players to push him and Ireland on are at Leinster. And being reserve there won't help push the pecking depth. They need to move but won't.

LHP. Again Porter was flogged a bit. And Healy being in reserve and noone crying for an alternative says alot really.

Lock. Ryan may come good again but he has declined alot in last6 months. And is now not near a top international. And he won't get near it for Leinster this season.

9. JGP and then Murray are by a good bit the best 1 & 2.

Lastly I don't think Frawley is an international 10 or 15. So I think we need to drop that hype but Osborne has consistently shown he belongs here and has versatility. I hope he is let nail a spot.
