Ireland v New Zealand - 8 November 2024

After a few beers with kiwi fans who are sure they're going to win it dawned on me how big a game this is for us.

We simply have to win as favourites v NZ and we've never done this before. Nz think they're going to win because of who they are but we're a better rugby team to this point this year.

If we want to stay in the echelon of one of the best rugby teams in the world, which is a huge benchmark for us wanting to break new ground and win a world cups, we have to defend home court.

Losing sets our status as a tough team to beat but nothing more. We can't afford that after last year.

We need to show we're fuckers even after Sexton, no one would put amything substantial on it (me included, we win tomorrow 10/10 times with him) but we simply have to prove it tomorrow. If we don't, 2031 should become the focus.

All that said, I have full faith in our lads to break new ground and make it look easy. Ireland by 12 and game out of sight by the hour.

FWIW I think we should/will win this one. Two pretty even teams and we haven't lost in the Aviva since god was a boy. When the management and squad say they're not out for revenge, I believe them, they don't really ever play into the emotions of a fixture.

I won't be too gutted if we lose though. Good yardstick for the squad either way.

Hope they win, but if a loss means we start transitioning away from some older players then that be okay with me.

Caleb Clarke loves Guinness and has a great great Irish granny or something.

Sorry, some useless info completely unrelated to you post.

Kiwi fans are going with their hearts instead of their heads, as usual.

Mainstream NZ media has set them up perfectly for unexpected failure and an angry backlash. Not good for Razor and his coaching staff.

Game of the month. Looking forward to this one but can't decide which side I am backing. Perhaps NZ as slight underdogs?

If NZ play like they did last week, then Ireland will win comfortably. If they tighten up on their ball handling and reduce the penalties then should be a good game.

New Zealand will win. Hopefully Robertson doesn't do that stupid dance. It is somehow worse than the Haka.
