France vs Afrique du Sud

Barcella
Dupuy (will excuse the missed penalty because not experienced as the kicker yet)
Picamoles
David
Dusautoir

+
Trinh-duc

-
Traille (solid ball in hand but still afraid with some handling and kicking errors that could, and in the past have, cost a lot more)[/b]
Dupuy too slow at base of ruck - bad habit from the english premiership I guess. Picamoles and David are very strong, but they got turned a couple of times in contact by going in too high. TrinhDuc can't get his midfield attack steaming. Traille belongs in the team, but not at Medard's expense - although it is very tempting when he can smack the ball to touch 70m.

If France wins, then NZ will become the #1 ranked team in the world again. Just something to think about.

Don't really agree with you Sthove about Dupuy. At the opposite I found him very fast when he had to around the rucks. Maybe exept one or twice ain the last 15 min when it took his time to reorganize around them.

The turnover we lost in the rucks were more the mistake of the ball handler going the move too far or a late support

I actually hope we lose, or Italy comes close to winning against us, the coach as well as the players need a wake-up call, tonight's performance was disgusting.

They played like a highschool team, hell I've seen highschool teams play better.

Brussow is f***ing superhuman. Best player in the world, god knows what the score would have been if SA didn't have him tonight.

Barcella and Dusautoir were incredible too, great game, and Scary to think what the score line could have looked like if France had taken their kicks at goal and not gifted SA that try out of nothing.

George Hook was saying on RTE that if France can find a Flyhalf that control the game, there will be no stopping them, hard to argue with that IMO.

On a side note, well done to the organizers for rigging that match. Who the F*uck's idea was it to get that drunk black hobo to sing our anthem? It was horrific, and he didn't know the words. It was disgusting, and a very sneaky way to make sure we are not in any way motivated to play. How the hell are you supposed to show emotion when your anthem gets sung by a mountain goat? Seriously uncool.[/b]

I missed the anthems, but that excuse doesn't wash. Ireland have to listen to Ireland's Call, a shite anthem at the best of times, played at a ridiculously slow pace on most away trips, and the players look more embarrassed than anything else! :p

Yeah, I thought he was there and gone very quickly. He produced quicker ball and had a more polished game than Du Preez had to be honest. Oooh and I love the little barb against the GP with little evidence or foundation to back it up ;)

Absolutely cracking game though. Agree with Juan when he said Morne Steyn was a one trick pony. Saw more imagination from Johnny Wilkinson against Italy in 2008...

You just don't get it. Dupuy, Leicester, last 30 mins. That's all you need to know.

France could have destroyed SA tonight, but when the enemy was at its weakest Dupuy didn't stick the knife in. Good player, but not a great player. Lievremont replaced him at the right time.

what happened to SA?
did they finally get penalized for stuff they were getting away with in trinations?

Best excuse ever.

Also, I don't think I've ever heard a decent rendition of your national anthem...

And now I finally understand why the All Blacks have played so badly this year...

They played against a team with a forward pack.

France announce themselves as real contenders for the 2011 world cup. The best French side since 2003.

Awesome performance from the French pack. SA have bullied teams for the last couple years, but today they were absolutely slaughtered upfront. Besides Brussow, who seems to be able to turn over the ball against any number of men, the Springboks were outclassed man for man.

Barcella had a stormer. Dusautoir joins McCaw, Smith and Brussow as the world's best flankers. And the French backs showed proper flair, as you'd expect. They may not have the straight line speed of a Habana or a Monye, but they more than make up for this in terms of pure rugby skill.

The big thing about this match is that France should have won by more. They were that dominant. I've never seen a previously invincible side (like the Springboks) be so comfortably beaten.

Ireland must be licking their lips. This Springbok tour looks weary and unmotivated - such a contrast to their year so far. Their biggest test thus far will be regrouping for the rest of the tour and showing the world that they're worthy of the number 1 spot.

They're not as they slipped to 2nd unless Italy beats NZ.

Seems very simular 2 France's antics of the dark blue jersey and making us wear our silver one during the RWC. France do seem very good at getting into the heads of their opponents early on, and things like bad national anthem really do matter. That is one aspect of playing France where they seem to show really poor sportsmanship. It isn't really the players fault, but it is the organisors and anyone else involved fault.
That being said excuses aside, France played well and South Africa played poorly, and at the end of the day that is what matters.

Well played France. Outclassed SA everywhere in that game. John Smit needs to leave now or start playing hooker. HE CANT SCRUM! SA just didn't seem motivated and fired up as they were during the Tri Nations, not that that's any excuse.

France really competed well at the lineout, and in the scrums we were destroyed. That really hurt us in terms of possession and field position.

I'll be buggered if I could see why kankowski was sent off btw.

Contrary to the bandwagon that's forming that labels SA as a "one trick kicking side", I thought that when they were actually presented with opportunities, the backs looked quite dangerous. This is seriously becoming a case of everyone looking for the times when SA kick the ball and ignoring the times when there is some good running by the backs.

Also, Melhor Time is being a royal asshole in this thread.

Damn, what a shame New Zealand get the world number one spot on a technicality, typical really.

Well done to France though.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
Peter de Villiers says the FFR has disrespected the Springboks while several players have described the singing of their anthem as a “shocking jokeâ€.

The French rolled out a trio of reggae stars to sing Nkosi Sikelel iAfrika, and what followed was a complete mockery of South Africa’s national anthem. De Villiers didn’t say it cost the Boks the Test, but he was notably upset with what amounted to an insult.

‘We are most annoyed that they would disrespect our national anthem,’ the Bok coach told keo.co.za. ‘To get someone who doesn’t know the words or how to sing the anthem is not respectful.’

Captain John Smit was unavailable for comment on Friday night because of mandatory doping tests, but vice-captain Victor Matfield admitted the singer’s performance was disruptive.

‘It’s a special moment at the start of every test, and it’s when we really like to get fired up. But it was a joke [on Friday]. You couldn’t sing and even the crowd started to laugh.’

This website also caught up with Heinrich Brussow after the Test who spoke of the anthem situation as shocking. ‘You have to feel for a guy like Wian du Preez who was standing with the Springboks for the first time. Now he has to remember the anthem like that.’

Bok centre Jaque Fourie said France deserved to win on the day, but was also disturbed by the botching of the anthem.

‘Shocking,’ he offered. ‘I don’t know where they got that guy from, he didn’t even know the words.

‘We can’t really do anything about it, and I don’t know if anyone else will do something about it, but it was very disappointing to hear.’[/b]

Well done France very good display and not to suprised, as after they smashed NZ in NZ during the first test of this year it was clear that they are on the up.

KZN don't worry about the one trick pony jibes etc as I would buy any pony that wins me the Lion Series, WC, Tri-Nations. When you are the top its normal to take a ribbing

Viva Le Bleu I will be cheering you boys on come the Six Nations next year.
