England vs Wales - 06/08/2011 - RWC Warm Up

My GOD Tuilagi sounds f!!k!n brain dead. He's got no charisma at all (as said by Cyril). Hope he never gets captain, Press conferences will last years!!

Sh*t just saw it too, all the best to him. Horrible.

Yuk!

Yea I guess 30-40 points isn;t quite accurate but you get my point!

I also really hate the England change strip. And the fact the team seems to be full of kiwi's. I mean who are they trying to be? They look like All Black Wannabe's - and a poor immitation I might add. As half English I find it embarassing to see them turned out in black full of Maoris with their tatoos and rat tail hair. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against Maori's, but in an England team? I mean whats going on? It does not look right at all.

As an Englishman I'm embarrassed to see four Englishmen turn out for Wales today, which is two times more than Kiwis turned out for England
Running out in a red shirt - red...the colour of the St Georges Cross!

For shame!

I guess its less obvious! But yea they should know better than to defect. They should be thrown in the Tower of London and hanged for treason.

You're gonna fight this to the hilt aren't you?!! :p

Also, 4? It was 3 last night. Who, since last night, has changed their place of birth from Builth Wells to Bracknell?

Till the death!

I actually don't care at all, just annoys me when people go on about England using England qualified players when you'd be hard pressed to find a country that doesn't play players who qualify under the same rules

I guess I'm starting to understand how All Blacks fans feel when people go on about them poaching :p

The fourth was Charteris - he came off the bench but didn't start, and I was on about starters before :p

Disappointed by the result but not going to argue the final score as I can't find enough good points for Wales today (I will start making them up soon) XD Also just saw Stoddart's injury, at first thought it was a head injury but much more serious unfortunatly :( Wish him all the best and look forward to seeing him return to the field.

Watching Tuilagi's interview, I couldn't help but feel pleased that Britian has been blessed with another bright, articulate young man.

For Wales, I felt Warburton was outstanding, while Priestland went very, very well, espechially considering the conditions underwhich he had to play. Both centres and Scott Williams made a positive impact, North finished well and Huw Bennett was slightly less useless the usual, though still not any good.

Tav must start next week. He was a huge, huge improvement. Unless the forward suddenly decided to produce quick ball around the 50 minute mark when he came on and the whole thing is a total coincidence. Llyod Burns was quite good, too, although I've seen some people with differing opinons. I don't think the team needs too much changing with for next week, although some tinkering must be done. I'mn tempted to try Priestland again. He looks a far better option than Biggar did when he got a chance.

I think Knoyle and Priestland for 9/10 next week??? I honestly wouldn't mind them being together. Gav at 12, with Roberts 13 (not that the centers didn't work well or anything just if their adamant of playing him, he needs game-time). In saying that, Stoddart's unfortunate injury could open up the door to number 15 for Gav, but it would be a waste of time imo (he should play 12).
Should be fun seeing team selection next week.

Completely argee with you there, I'm going up next week and would love to see Gav and Jamie play together seen as imo, they have the potential to be incredible together, creative in attacks and solid defenders. If Roberts can break the game line Gav should have that extra bit of pace to get to the try line :p

Oh, I was also impressed by Bevington. He could well have forced his way inwards. Onto the plane, perhaps not, but if (Heavens forbid) there's another front-row injury, he could be the man to fill in.

I'd go with next week-
Gethin, Burns (Assuming Hibbard & rees are out), Adam, Alun Wyn, Bradley, Delve, Warburton, Faletau; Tav, Priestland/Hook (Injury-dependant if Hook's 100%, I'd have him. If he's anything less than 98%, Priestland all the way); Shane, Henson, Roberts, North/Brew, Byrne

Martyn on the bench. If he goes to the World Cup, it'll be as an impact player, so let's try him as one. Part of me feels as if Shane should be wrapped in cotton wool from here on out, but I'm going to the game, so desperately want to see him play in what could possibly be Shane Williams' last game at the Millenium Stadium.

Thats a rather tasty team when you think of it :D :D I think Shane needs game-time, cause sometimes today his decision making was **** poor' then again thats Shane - he lost out on full marks in his Alevel PE practical back in the day for that exact reason :p :p If i was going next week, i'd certainly wanna see that team though, neis iawn :p

you're picking henson based on what? reputation? cos it certainly isn't on form.

north looked outstanding today. A hint for people who like big wingers - ones that look for work, hit the line at an angle and at pace are far more effective than ones who run straight, slowly, and attempt offloads that never work.

warburton is also a gem, but we knew that already. other than that, at the risk of sounding arrogant and English, Wales are a poor looking side who should really have been put away today.

I did not see Byrne playing well for the whole 6N (I do not know how he did with Ospreys). If Hook is Ok maybe he should be at fly-half and Priestland could move to fullback... although I really liked how he played today at 10.

Scott Williams should start, and Henson should be 21 or 22 on the bench (and only because Edwards said Henson will feature, I don't think he should - though as an England fan I'd like him to, because he's probably the worst option for Wales from their current crop of centres/flyhalves/fullbacks, on current form, not reputation)

Never would i put those two together ;) ;)

To be fair i thought the score did the game justice. Didn't think that England were that much better than us (only just seen we scored a try more than the Saes), when you have wilko at 10 u know he'll drop a goal if nothings on; the whole pub saw it coming a mile off on both occasions. Some call it boring, but its a test match and you need points, so i say fairplay to him for taking the game seriously. Onwards and upwards as they say :D

I wouldn't mind seeing -

9 - knoyle
10 - Priestland (Hook)
11 - shane (Halfpenny)
12 - Henson (Roberts)
13 - Scott williams
14 - North
15 - Roberts (Priestland)

Players in brackets would also be viable options for those positions.

Highlights on BBC 2 now, gonna have a second look :D :D
