England 6N 2016 - General Chit Chat

Look mate . You're coming in here with your sensible thinking and ruining our love for scrapping everything and playing loads of teenagers haha

Haha! Cheers! Nothing I'd love more than having moan, it took me days to get out of my team announcement depression last week, I've had to force myself to be positive... and the only way to do that if for me to maintain rational thinking... However, if its the same look in the summer i'll throw all my toys out the pram :)

Haha I'm definitely in the same boat as you ! After a decade of having non coaches in charge we finally have a coach with some pedigree . I'm not shooting him down too early . I'm happy to give him time because I think he will work wonders for us

One has to admire such optimism!!

I think he's just trying to see how the players react - if they can actually do what he tells them to - regardless of whether it makes sense.

Whether he's actually wanting them to obey blindly or not is another matter...

Goode, I want you to be slower and make more wrong decisions in a white shirt.

Haskell, tackling is good but you need to avoid more rucks. Also if your carry stats show you making more than 10metres in a game I'm going to ****ing do you in.

Farrell, be more obnoxious and work on your Nazi poster boy look
Burgess, be more back in Australia
Easter, be older
Ford, bounce further off your tackles.

I think I might bookmark this post ^_^

I'm going to bookmark this one.

I'm feeling a LOT less optimistic about EJ but I'm saving any real analysis until after the summer tour.
He's certainly making all the wrong noises and weird selections atm.

Why? I'm saying nothing in it

I mean, I don't think I like what's going on either. But we've really not got a lot of data going on for judgement and analysis. Anyone wanting to make big sweeping statements about Jones atm, they're giving hostages to fortune imo.

J'nuh gets to be prophet or fool. Good on him going balls to the wall, it keeps the place lively... said he preparing to take the wee out of him if it goes sour

If we're going balls out on predictions ...

Grand Slam in the next 4 years and a WC semi.

I'm not enamoured with a lot of decisions froM so far, but it's early days and I can see the reasoning (even if I disagree) in some of his weird decisions.

He'll be significantly better than Lancaster but not take us back to the glory years proper.

Could he be telling people to concentrate on what they are good at so they become exceptional at doing that rather than wasting time on what their deficiencies are.

I mean Wilkinson was no mug at attack but we remember him for his exceptional defence and kicking.

I wonder how many fully rounded players there are Jones is possibly just asking them to improve their strengths.

It's almost like saying Kvesic go away and become the next Hooper I'm not worried about the other stuff but if you exceptional at this I'll have to pick you.

Waldrom has been told to improve his cake eating speed.

Olyy I Would love to see a fully fit Fonua running at full speed at Ford unobstructed.

Shut up with your Logic

Roko has been told to remain invisible.

Callum Clarke has been asked to improve on his deliberate maiming.

I remember hearing Dillaglio saying that Jones is asking players to work on their strengths to see how they react.

This isn't a bad thing, it tests the metal of the players. Then you can weed out the ones that will never make it at the top level.

Burrell is an example, he is a confidence player and has no metal. So no point in ever having in the squad no matter how good his form because you know in a hard game he might just fall apart.

Furthermore anyone criticising haskells carrying must remember that he is as good as carrying in the premiership as kvesic. So you can't assume that kvesic would be any better in an international game.
