Probably Furbank, but Atkinson is in the squad so hopefully impresses and gets a shot at the bench spot - he's been in great form this season

Lol I assumed mark atkinson was in the squad, just realised everyone is talking about Charlie Atkinson.

As Paulo Odogwu and Alfie Barbeary are moving to play for clubs abroad does that make them ineligible to play for England?

No
Their club going bust counts as "exceptional circumstances" so for this one year, they're eligible for selection whilst playing overseas.
Post RWC, they'd need to be back in England

With Odogwu probably going to Italy, i fully expect him to make himself eligible for them...cant blame him.

Me neither. To be fair though, I doubt he would ever have been consistent enough to nail down a regular spot with England.

Yeah, he could barely nail down a spot at Wasps. Eddie does plenty wrong but IMO, letting Odogwu slip through the cracks is not one of those things.

If EJ had capped him people would be complaining about him wasting caps on a substandard player.

I have my issues with Eddie, but he is often damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

I don't know whether Odogwu is 'sub standard'. I think the talent is there, it's more that he hasn't really put together a sustained run of form since the purple patch that got him in to the England mix. Partly through injury and partly through loss of form he just not really on the radar right now.

He never really settled at Tigers or Sale and I thought that his breakthrough season with Wasps was the start of his career taking off, but it's sort of plateaued, so a new league and a new goal of making the Italian RWC squad could be exactly what he needs. Good luck to him.

I don't have a particularly strong view on whether he was good enough for Eng or not. Probably fringe player at best.

In this case Jones deserves some criticism though. OK it was COVID, but in no universe was it right to have him holding tackle bags for so long that he didn't play for something like 11 weeks in peak season, coming off the form of his life.

Series of injuries at wasps hasn't helped either - looked really good when he's strung a few games together
Really should've gotten capped that series he was called up and not used, but in hindsight it doesn't matter than much as he's been injured like 75% of the time since so wouldn't have been able to feature anyway

BBC are reporting that Odogwu and Vincent Koch have signed for Stade Francais.

The we are turning into football, nearly wet my red chinos brigade incoming...

Just England or every team?
If the latter I wonder if Amazon requested it
Just England, as a way of increasing appeal to the masses.

No harm in it, and it might result in a couple more shirts being sold, or a few more quid in profit from the name printing; but... drop in the ocean, and I don't see it reducing sales of anything, so might as well.
