Australia vs England - 3 Tests - June 2016

Eddie was saying in the rugby paper Wade still needs to work on his defence.

And gave the impression that he will either be Saxons or Sevens.

I just don't see Wade making that step up to international rugby TBH.

If Ashton managed it with his defence, and get's at least a shot (which he may have blown) in an Eddie side, then I don't see what more Wade could do. I know I'd rather Wade than Ashton in defence, Wade is also less likely to give away a pen for a shoulder barge, a collar grab, or petulantly kicking the ball away.

Yes it's good to see what the lad thinks about playing for England.

The only problem is that he seems determined to fulfil his contract with Ospreys, which would exclude him moving to the AP in the next 2 years. Will Eddie still be able to play the 'exceptional circumstances' card?

However, it is understood that the clubs are likely to demand that the player at least gives an indication that his long-term future will be back in England, having joined the Ospreys last year after making two appearances for Gloucester.

The concern for the RFU is that if Underhill sees out his three-year contract with the Ospreys in conjunction with the Welsh region’s feeder club Bridgend Ravens, he would also become eligible for Wales under World Rugby’s three-year residency rule, as well as the United States, the country of his birth.

Ian Ritchie, the RFU’s chief *executive, said in January that *Underhill was “certainly on the *radarâ€, when asked if the player’s performances had convinced the governing body to attempt to *invoke the “exceptional circumstances†clause for the first time.

It is understood that the matter has not yet been raised with the clubs by the RFU but there is an expectancy that an agreement would need to be in place by May should Jones indicate that he wished to select Underhill for the tour of Australia in June.

The position could have become clearer by then if a Premiership club are able to sign the player from the Ospreys for the start of next *season.

This is the most recent link to an article on whether the "exceptional circumstances" clause will be exercised. It says all the Aviva clubs need to agree and this would need to be done before the end of May. Until now there does not appear any more news on this "agreement" unless anyone else has information/link with an update?

Ask Wales Online.
I feel like they're the only ones who have been touting it, but they've been banging on about it a lot

Was it ever really on the cards? Only here for education, and he plays in the one position we have a ridiculous amount of talent in

I'll be surprised to see him go on the Aus tour though, considering how stubborn the Aviva clubs can be.

He'll play for England soon enough though.

As soon as he completes his 3 years for Wales he would be eligible. He has potential to be a world class player and regardless of Wales riches in the back row, they surely wouldn't turn down a world class player, if he showed any inkling to play for Wales. I think there's also a desire to ensure he's not lost to Wales ala Tom Francis and Moriaty. Don't forget George North and Warburton could also have chosen to play for England.

Ructions would have been had ... in particular with North considering his schooling background.

I was at school with Josh Lewsy and he could have chosen to play for Wales despite going to school in England; as his mum is Welsh. In fact his younger brother Ed who was in my year chose to play for Wales under 18s.

You went to Watford Boys? That was my school. Met Josh Lewsey when he visited.

What... education?
