Ultimately this has become a story of what lasting damage it will do to the government rather than one of will cause a change to leadership structure (ie PM Cummings leaving). This is unless the police charge him for the Barnard Castle trip or other excursion are found to be true.

As I'm typing this Deputy PM Johnson has said he's forbidden from introducing anymore target and deadlines.....I'm still laughing.

Johnson says the "brutal reality is this country did not learn the lessons" of previous outbreaks, and "did not have a testing operation ready to go but we now have that".

Setting himself up to blame SAGE for their advice?

He just said he's fully reponsible.....so hes ****** that plan.

Bojo getting ****** in the arsehole by everyone here
Not an image I want in my subconscious. Or conscious.

BBC saying the Newsnight intro fell short of their standards of impartiality and have reminded staff of their responsibilities......so that's Maitlis off to GMB or somewhere then.

We had people assault rifles storming governor's mansions with no repercussions and George Floyd gets killed while unarmed and outnumbered by the police.

Our institutions so clearly believe in white supremacy and it just seems to be the way of life now in America.

Apparently Johnson called the Cummings issue a "political ding dong".

He really doesn't f*cking get it does he?

They are use to being in the 'right' side of public opinion if your doing what they want people will accept the lies and bullshit they might think it's that but it doesn't stop them supporting you. The problem is when your the 'wrong' side none of that is washing.

They erroneously think that they are convincing people the lies are true.

I can't see him going for a second full 5 year term to be honest...

A Sunak premiership or another very different face to Boris could distance themselves enough from bojo and Cummings to still win healthily

I can't see him completing a full first term TBH. Today's grilling was a train wreck. He came over as uninformed, bungling and unconvincing. He proved again that he's not a PM who is close to or familiar with the details.

I think she actually gets this kind of warning fairly often as does Kunnesberg, after Prince Andrew and other things her star is in ascendancy they'll keep her until she gets something massively wrong.

Newsnight tweeted this about the same time the BBC made thier statement https://twitter.com/BBCNewsnight/status/1265670915406401538?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet I suspect they don't give ****.
Well she's been canned from tonight's show. Wonder whose decision that was ?

God I'm in a punchy mood just written to the BBC to explain which part of her opening monologue was not factual and the suspension being a gross overreaction.

Tempted to do the same tbh

I'm enjoying how all the right-wing 'snowflakes' are really angry at how Matlis acted, but equally annoyed at those same people claiming it's the 'leftwing liberals who hate Brexit' who want to see Dominic Cummings sacked.

Remember when they said we needed to leave the EU because of unelected bureaucrats?

Also the fact that the Daily Mail, Farage and other Brexit supporters are calling for him to leave.

The irony.
